Hi...I was just wondering has anyone had IVF at Belfast fertility recently? Thanks

OP posts:

@Notyoungnotwealthy hi, I've just had a FET done with In-ovo in June and got a positive result. I would definitely recommend them. I found the hycosy fine. No more invasive than the rest of IVF in general.

Notyoungnotwealthy · 16/07/2022 23:17

@Lilyduke thanks for posting. Congrats on your positive result, that's lovely news.

Lilyduke · 17/07/2022 01:17

@Notyoungnotwealthy do you have any frozen embryos? Are you able to request your notes for any tests you had done? This might help reduce costs at other clinics

Notyoungnotwealthy · 17/07/2022 01:29

@Lilyduke unfortunately no frozen embryos. Thanks for the suggestion to request notes to try and keep the costs down. If you don't mind me asking how many times did you have to do ivf/cycles before you got a positive result?

Lilyduke · 17/07/2022 07:31

@Notyoungnotwealthy this was my first cycle and first FET. I feel like it's too good to be true. Going for the first scan on Wednesday so really hoping there will be a heartbeat. I've just had the NHS initial appointment letter through but I was struggling too much with how long the process was taking which was why we went privately to start with. How many weeks did you have the miscarriage at? Sorry that you had to go through that. How many eggs did they retrieve? x

Notyoungnotwealthy · 17/07/2022 11:44

@Lilyduke that's amazing and try to enjoy it. I know it's easier said than done but don't be worrying. I only had 2 eggs so ended up with nothing to freeze. Was told all was not well at my 1st appointment after testing positive and miscarried soon after. That's why I want to go private and give it another go.

Hey, has anyone undergone a frozen embryo transfer at the regional fertility centre Belfast recently? Just wondering how long the whole process takes from starting your medication for down regulation until transfer day?

BoPeepNoSheep · 10/04/2023 00:59

Yeah regional Fertility Centre centre did that to me too. Wait list for clomid was longer than that for IVF

BoPeepNoSheep · 10/04/2023 01:07

Or how long it takes from review appt after failed fresh cycle. I waited 15 weeks on my review appt and now being told another 3-4 months for FET - I’m 6 weeks into that time.

Hi, sorry for jumping on an old post but was wondering if anyone is currently with or has experience of TFP Belfast or Dr Roberts? Hopefully starting our IVF/ICSI journey very soon and think of going with them. Thanks in advance!

MoonlightDreamer · 14/08/2023 19:44

Would love to hear an update from you ladies. I know this is an old post but it would be nice to hear how you got on since.

im awaiting ivf ( icsi) with RFC. Weve had our initial and review consultation with them in June. I guess it's just a waiting game now to be called.
The waiting is really dreadful. I started the referral process with my GP over 4 years ago . By the time I start treatment I'll be 38

Sunshine180 · 14/08/2023 20:09

Hey @MoonlightDreamer, can I ask how long you waited between your actually referral to fertility after the investigations and your initial consultation please?

my husband and I have been referred to RFC but think we’re going to go private due to the wait time. I was told we would probably be waiting about 18 months for treatment at the minute.

MoonlightDreamer · 14/08/2023 21:15

@Sunshine180
We were referred in Aug 22 and offered first appointment in Jan 23.

We had to reschedule our first appointment which meant we had our first consultation in Feb. From then, they said it would be 2 months until review, which ended up being 4 months as all April appointments had apparently already been booked up by time we phoned. Our review appointment was in June and he said it would be approximately 4 months until treatment starts but who knows

Sunshine180 · 14/08/2023 21:18

@MoonlightDreamer thanks for your response! It feels like such a long process doesn’t it, especially in NI. just want everything done asap!

MR788 · 14/08/2023 22:17

I found it all very quick at the rfc i have just had ivf isci just had my transfer last week. Waiting lists are not long anymore hopefully you wont have to wait long.

MimiArm · 15/08/2023 22:18

Also jumping on here -

If you search my previous posts we had bad experiences with both Belfast Fertility and In-Ovo.

We ended up going to Waterstone Clinic in Kildare. They were excellent. Worked out a plan on first visit and was pregnant at age 41 within two months after years of infertility and a miscarriage from previous treatment. I received prescriptions for all the extras (progesterone, blood thinner injections) and now have a 12 month old boy.

Happy to answer any questions.

Sunshine180 · 16/08/2023 07:30

Hi @MimiArm, sorry to hear about your bad experiences but that’s great that you now have your son!

can I ask when people say Belfast Fertility is that the same as TFP?

MimiArm · 16/08/2023 09:52

@Sunshine180 Thank you 😊 Yes, TFP is the same as Belfast Fertility (I think they've rebranded a few times).

The only three places in NI are (I believe) In-OVO, TFP/Belfast Fertility and Mid Ulster Women's Clinic. The later doesn't do IVF but does ovulation induction.

I sound like I'm being paid to promote Waterstone (I'm not!) but it really was excellent and actually cheaper - just a hassle running up and down the road.

MoonlightDreamer · 16/08/2023 11:13

@MR788 how long roughly does it take until starting treatment after they set you up on their portal ? We received our letter this morning to say were top of list and to forward our details to get set up on portal. We weren't expecting to hear from them for another 2 months as we were told approximately 4 months

MR788 · 16/08/2023 14:17

@MoonlightDreamer i got my letter to say at top of list end of april had to wait on consent forms done them in may then i got my checks and all done in june my injections i started them on the 20th july its all very quick. I thought it would of been much longer.

MR788 · 16/08/2023 14:19

@MoonlightDreamer i got my 1st injection on 24th june because i got my prostap then you have a few weeks break inbetween waiting before you start stims.

KJ00 · 16/08/2023 15:08

@MR788 was everything done online up until your scans or did you have any appointments with them between consent and starting stims?
Did they give you the prostap or you give it to yourself?
I know you have to give stims yourself.
I think im on short protocol so after collection I have to wait for fet. No idea how long that will add for me as consultation was quite fast

MR788 · 16/08/2023 16:46

@KJ00 Wel looking back was start of may i got my letter to say at top of list. I had 2 appointments before scans 1st was my bmi check and blood tests and got my medication that day all the injections. Then was 3 days later i went back up for my prostap injection they do that for you.

KJ00 · 16/08/2023 17:08

@MR788 were the bloods an bmi in June aswell?
Or earlier as in same month as letter ?

I got my letter start of this month and work are fine with taking time off for ivf next month and beyond but I have to finish my training first which won't be until end of this month.
Worried they will call me this month and I won't be able to attend.

MR788 · 16/08/2023 17:22

@KJ00 wel i got called for bmi checks and bloods on 21st june so will probs be nxt month you be called time they set u up on portal they will then give you dates off all appointments on your calender to view .
