Good luck @Kitekat81 !

florafoxtrot · 10/06/2021 08:51

Hope all goes well today @Kitekat81.

Kitekat81 · 10/06/2021 09:44

Glad it's not just me @Kamiros!

Thanks @Scirocco @florafoxtrot 😊

itsmschanandlerbong · 10/06/2021 19:05

@Kitekat81 how did your scan go today?

@itsmschanandlerbong not good unfortunately. I had one huge follicle and a few tiny ones, and it looks like it's a fluid-filled cyst. They've cancelled my cycle. They want to put me on the pill for three weeks and then try again.

Scirocco · 10/06/2021 19:45

Oh no, @Kitekat81, that's rotten news. I'm sorry. 😿

Comiston34 · 10/06/2021 19:59

@Kitekat81 I hope your scan went well today, it's very nerve wracking but you are really in good hands. Keeping everything crossed for you you. Are you planning a fresh transfer or back to back cycles?

I'm starting stims around 19th with GCRM and first scan 25th in Edin feeling good - I'm on noretherisone for 10days no side effects so far - it's used to time you for the clinic schedule.

Comiston34 · 10/06/2021 20:02

@Kitekat81 - My refresh didn't work - I am so sorry to hear about your cancelled cycle. It's heart-breaking but completely the right thing to do. I had planned to go on B.C for the next cycle as I had similar issues but they kept me going until day 13 which was hard.

Have you got a refund policy on the accommodation? I booked via Airbnb and was able to cancel my unused without penalty.

itsmschanandlerbong · 10/06/2021 20:14

@Kitekat81 I'm so sorry to hear this, it just constantly feels like set backs during this. Hopefully the cyst will go with being on the pill. Hope you're ok ❤️

@Kitekat81 I'm so sorry to hear this. Big hugs x

Kitekat81 · 10/06/2021 20:33

Thanks ladies. @Comiston34 I'll get a little bit back on the AirBnB but will lose most of it. Will probably get about £100 back and lose about £500. Am feeling a bit lost, I had everything planned for the next 10 days. I've got the whole of next week booked off as annual leave. Not sure whether to take it anyway, or cancel it as I'll need it for the other cycles.

GemmTryTTC · 10/06/2021 20:44

I’m so sorry @Kitekat81, sending a big hug your way.
We have the second monitoring tomorrow at the GCRM, fingers crossed things are looking up!

Kitekat81 · 10/06/2021 21:14

Thanks @GemmTryTTC. Good luck for your scan tomorrow!

Comiston34 · 10/06/2021 23:56

@Kitekat81this journey is not for the feight hearted.

I arranged to 'work from home' while I was away then took a week sick leave when it was cancelled. I point blank refused to use any holidays for a medical procedure. Work weren't happy but accepted the situation.

I'm WFH this cycle when I start stimms. My 1st cycle stress made me realise logistics and my crappy eggs are too uncertain for distance ivf, if only they were closer! I'd probably use them if we need DE and it's more flexible.

I figured I'd need my holidays as recovery either way but do not accept using it for IVF. I'm staying strong on that until HR say no!

Comiston34 · 10/06/2021 23:58

Good luck tomorrow @GemmTryTTC

Scirocco · 11/06/2021 00:20

Good luck @GemmTryTTC

Kitekat81 · 11/06/2021 10:26

@Comiston34 well done you for staying strong with your HR! I've checked our "family friendly" policy and we are entitled to two days off for fertility treatment. Two days! It's not worth the hassle of telling my employers my personal business for that. I'm on a long journey with this three cycle package so I'll have to manage it with annual leave. Luckily there aren't many other exciting things to do with annual leave at the moment!

Well I'll be heading back to Edinburgh with my tail between my legs this afternoon. Will take a couple of days to lick my wounds, then start planning for next time.

Comiston34 · 11/06/2021 11:07

@Kitekat81 Have a safe trip home and take some time for self-care.

My work have zero 'family friendly' policies or IVF policies, which a complete joke! I've found being open and honest (too honest) with my workplace has worked in my favour as they have adjusted my workload to accommodate the need for WFH occasionally or time off at short notice. It was either that of I threatened to have GP sign me off for duration of each cycle which they would do, but I hate being off and would prefer to have the distraction of work.

I'm an AHP in Social work so it's usually complex front facing work so not really flexible unless they know. So lots of boring paperwork/telephone reviews etc.

It might worth having a frank chat with them especially as it really is the long haul. I started this journey in Nov 2020 and it's been a rollercoaster and I'm only on the start of cycle 2 due to TSH levels being all over the place - it's been very slow going!

Just waiting for a phone call to see if egg collection is scheduled for Monday now! Had the second monitoring appointment, the GCRM doesn’t say much regarding follicles and sizes, apparently I had 10 in one side and 6 in the other, and the nurse today said things are progressing “very good” with 3 good size ones (which doesn’t sound like a lot to me). Most probably will trigger tonight. I’m scared they won’t get enough eggs at egg collection! This is nerve racking!!

GemmTryTTC · 11/06/2021 15:36

Well, I checked the portal (I hope GCRM calls me soon 😂 loosing my marbles here) and I’ve seen that egg collection is scheduled for Tuesday morning, menopur tonight and tomorrow night along with fyremadel tomorrow am and Sunday am, and trigger Sunday evening!
Very nervous now!

2mumlife · 11/06/2021 15:39

Just catching up as been away on a short stay-cation this week.

@ally99101 Hope everything goes well for you think cycle

@GemmTryTTC You never now what you'll get until EC day. I was with GCRM and had expected to get 7 eggs at EC, but my eggs didn't mature properly to trigger and only got 4, 2 mature. But both mature eggs made it to day 5. Sometimes quality over quantity is the way things go. p.s. may have seen you in the carpark as I was in earlier today too!

@Kitekat81 Sorry to hear about cycle being cancelled, hopefully next time will be better.

So I had my FET today Grin. Clinic must not have been busy as things were a lot calmer today than usual - I had my favourite consultant (who I just find so much gentler with procedures) and he took a lot of time explaining things and points things out on the ultrasound which was nice. Done 3 lots of mindfulness today to try to keep myself in a positive mindset for next 10 days

GemmTryTTC · 11/06/2021 16:20

@2mumlife I was there around 11:30 today, you probably saw me. Well, fingers crossed this next 2 menopur doses do their jobs, but I think we won’t get a lot of eggs. As long as we have enough to try one or two FET and not paying the difference between egg sharing and full IVF price would be awesome as we have enough money to pay for it but it would be a pain in the backside. If we get 9 or less we keep them all and to be honest I do believe we will get way less than 9. I can only keep calm and distract myself this weekend until Tuesday!

GemmTryTTC · 11/06/2021 16:21

@2mumlife forgot to cross my fingers for you!!! Lots of mindfulness and meditation the next 10 days. I have everything crossed for you!

2mumlife · 11/06/2021 18:04

@GemmTryTTC I would have been coming out just about the time you went in. That's interesting about egg sharer programme, I looked at it before and I'd thought if you had low numbers they all went to the recipient so interesting to hear actually what happens (I didn't look into it in massive detail at the time). If you get 9 or less, does that stop you being an egg sharer in the future if you were to ever be doing this again? Fingers crossed you get as close to 9 as you can!

Scirocco · 11/06/2021 18:47

@GemmTryTTC that sounds really stressful - did they explain their rationale for the timings? Fingers crossed you get good numbers!

And @2mumlife congratulations on the FET and being PUPO!
