Starting this thread early!

We've just booked for our second round to start August 2nd with egg collection September 8th.

I was on the Jan/Feb thread earlier this year.

Come join me :)

@itsmschanandlerbong @beachbum85 my AF is also late now, also on buserelin! Need it to hurry so I can start Stims too at the weekend, cannot deal with anymore delays 🤦🏽‍♀️ its positive to know its kinda normal to be late during this phase! Im so happy with this chat, I would normally just be sat here stressing about it. Hope everyone is having a good week x

dreamersdown · 10/08/2021 10:41

How are people finding the buserelin? Am getting extremely bad headaches/ nausea - anyone found a way to feel any better?

Nerdalert · 10/08/2021 10:56

@dreamersdown I find i get a little headache straight after the shot and I have a loss of appetite and if I do eat more than normal I feel nauseous then! My stomach is a little sore late at night too. Totally worth it though 😁

beachbum85 · 10/08/2021 11:31

I've had a couple of bad headaches towards the end of the day too - I know it's fine to take paracetamol but I've just been having a nap if/when I can. No nausea here, so far at least, but a little bit of indigestion that I'm not doing much about really.

@Nerdalert I hope your period arrives soon! My notes from the clinic say 'you may or may not have a period during this time' so maybe you can start stims either way? Not sure how that works tbh...

@dreamersdown I hope you feel better soon... how much longer till your first scan/stims?

Nerdalert · 10/08/2021 11:55

@beachbum85 my notes just say to contact the clinic if I haven't had AF by Friday but I am hoping I will have

Nerdalert · 10/08/2021 12:00

@dreamersdown I have found napping and just relaxing are helping with the headaches and nausea. I also prefer to get the majority of work, cleaning, cooking etc all done before I have to jab in the evening then I can just relax!

beachbum85 · 10/08/2021 16:13

@Nerdalert still quite a few days till Friday so I'm sure it'll be here by then :) I don't know if this helps in any way, but I also noticed that, on Buserelin, I didn't have the 2-3 days of spotting before my period that I usually do, it just started full on.

Hansoo · 10/08/2021 19:45

Still no sign of AF..I have rang the clinic today and the plan is wait for 5 more days then book in for a scan and they will have a look and see what's going on.
I asked them what my AMH was. They said it was 15.8. It was taken on day 21.
I cant find out whether that is good or bad for my age and ivf prospects. I am 38 and a half.

KatRee · 10/08/2021 20:05

@Bluebonnet3 well done on injection! I was so relieved when I realised the big needle is just for drawing up and the one for jabbing is pretty small! Any sign of AF yet?

@Misty84 Sounds promising! How are you feeling with the meds so far?

@itsmschanandlerbong I am normally regular as clockwork with 24 day cycle, but think all the supplements I've been taking have lengthened mine so now not sure exactly when it will show up. Any sign of it for you yet?

@Nerdalert weekend is still a while away, so hopefully you'll have progress by then 🤞

@dreamersdown lovely to hear a success story. First time for me, but also trying to be pragmatic, manage my own expectations, etc, but keep finding myself daydreaming about a positive outcome and how wonderful it will be- good luck to you this time around

@Hansoo Hope you get to start soon too! I have found it very difficult to find consistent info about what is consider 'good' AMH, but 15.8 at 38 sounds good from what I've seen. Mine is 11.5 at 37, which my clinic said was low but not very low - they told me they consider 17.5 average.

Hansoo · 10/08/2021 20:17

Thank you. Yes I was struggling to understand what the score meant. The clinic weren't unduly worried and had never heard of sevenseas ttc causing delays in AF

dreamersdown · 10/08/2021 21:46

Thanks all, helpful to hear your experience of buserelin. I’m on the nasal spray 4 times a day which is a weird one - it’s hard to make myself want to take medicine which I know is going to make myself feel bad!

@beachbum85 Bleed came today so scan tomorrow. Fingers and toes crossed that my lining is thin enough to go on with.

What really helped me when I did a fresh transfer was not letting myself get too far ahead of myself - literally just thinking about the next hurdle - do I have follicles, is my lining right, was my egg collection successful. I keep trying to do that but it’s really struck me that the frozen embryos I’m going to use are technically the twins of my child and… finding it hard to keep the calm perspective!

Bluebonnet3 · 10/08/2021 23:09

I haven't noticed any side effects of buserelin (injections) other than a delayed period. I think I'll also call the clinic tomorrow and find out what to do if af doesn't arrive in the next few days.

beachbum85 · 11/08/2021 10:42

@Hansoo AMH of 15.8 at 38 sounds good to me too! Mine is 11.3 at 35 and like @KatRee I was told it was low but now tooooo low... My clinic doesn't seem to care about AMH much anyway, and they go by AFC, so who knows?! I'm glad you have a backup plan but hope your period shows before then!

@Bluebonnet3 glad to hear you have no other side effects! How delayed are you? Hope the clinic gives you a backup plan too :)

@dreamersdown good luck for your scan today! let us know how it goes xx

@Misty84 do you have another scan today too?

Tomorrow my partner has an appointment at the time I usually take Buserelin so I did a trial run of injecting myself this morning... I couldn't bear to push it in at first, but it was fine in the end! Feeling quite proud of myself hehe

Dizzyhedgehog · 11/08/2021 10:43

I hope it's OK if I tentatively join. We are still at the beginning and currently waiting for our ivf plan to be approved by our insurance. If all goes well and they are quick with the paperwork, we could apparently start with our first cycle by the end of this month. My gynaecologist was very positive about it when I saw her today and the clinic seem to have us down as a pretty straightforward case. Let's hope it's going to go relatively smoothly.
I've had 5 losses so far due to my tubes not working properly. The left one was removed after the last ectopic, which also led to our referral. Fingers crossed. :)

Misty84 · 11/08/2021 11:38

Hi @beachbum85 Yeah it’s not going well to be honest. Second scan today and I’m down to 3 follicles responding. Feels hopeless and I feel devastated already- cried on the bus home in front of many strangers! Can’t believe how much money we are having to spend on such low odds. AMH basically ruining my life.

beachbum85 · 11/08/2021 11:53

@Misty84 oh I'm so sorry and I can totally understand you're feeling upset! Don't worry about the strangers though... I've cried in public places many more times than I care to admit and it has always ended there. Huge hug xx
Did they give any explanation as to what happened to the other follicles they saw last time? Have they proposed a change in dose or anything like that? I'm keeping everything crossed that things will improve for you by the time you get to EC but I will say that someone in the July/Aug thread had only 2 eggs collected, 1 fertilised, and she just got her BFP, so it's definitely not hopeless yet!

beachbum85 · 11/08/2021 11:55

@Dizzyhedgehog welcome and sorry to hear about your previous losses... I hope your paperwork gets sorted quickly so you can start soon. A straightforward case sounds like a good starting point... fingers crossed for you :)

Misty84 · 11/08/2021 12:00

@beachbum85 Thank you, I definitely need to hear positive stories like that! They didn’t give me an explanation and I was too afraid to ask (and was trying not to cry so unable to talk). I’m adding in a second injection (Fyremadel) from tonight. Next scan on Friday which I’m already dreading! x

beachbum85 · 11/08/2021 12:07

@Misty84 fingers crossed that the second injections helps :) sending you lots of love and keeping my fingers crossed for better news on Friday. Good luck xx

KatRee · 11/08/2021 13:25

@Misty84 I'm so sorry it's not the news we hope for. I know it's a billion times easier said than done, but all is not lost, it only takes one good egg, and whatever happens it's all progress as they'll be learning so much from these observations about how your body responds to different meds and dosages. Look after yourself xx

Goldilocks2528 · 11/08/2021 14:12

Hey @dreamersdown, make sure you are drinking a lot of water. I drank at least 3 litres a day, usually 3.5, and it helped a lot. I had a few buserelin headaches last time, but they were defiantly manageable.

Goldilocks2528 · 11/08/2021 14:30

Hey ladies, sorry been offline for a few days. Next week my first jab will be done and dusted and I'll be on my way again. Cycle 2 here we come.. exciting.

@Coops0406 I am so sorry to read about the delay and the cyst. It must be incredibly frustrating, sending you a hug.

Hi @2mumlife, great news that you got the go ahead. We will be fairly close date-wise, I start jabbing buserelin on the 18th. Think e/c will be around the 15/16/17 if I get that far in the process.

Well done on injecting yourself @beachbum85. I am so worried about having to do that as other half has always done it for me. I'm going to ty and be brave and give it a go, maybe.... I'm worried about pushing it in too.

@Misty84 don't give up hope. In my first cycle I had 4 follicles (have very low AMH so wasn't expecting many at all), got 3 eggs and 2 fertilised. Bother went to day 5, one put back and it worked. Just need one x

Goldilocks2528 · 11/08/2021 14:31

Hi @Dizzyhedgehog I am so sorry to hear about your previous losses. Have everything crossed for you.

itsmschanandlerbong · 11/08/2021 18:34

AF was 6 days late but is finally here 🙌 bringing the worst cramp but anyways I won't complain. I am always so regular so was getting worried, but it came this morning and I phoned to book in for cycle 2. I have a scan on Friday then I'll start stims (short protocol) the same day. Feeling anxious but excited about starting again.

Dizzyhedgehog · 11/08/2021 18:51

@beachbum85 @Goldilocks2528
Thanks. :) All good so far here. We've been ttc for the past 10 years and have one DS (conceived naturally after a laparoscopy where they cleared my tubes), so I'm probably luckier than most people.
I got my paperwork back today and we've been approved for 3 cycles and 100% of the costs will be reimbursed, which is great. We do have to pay separately for blastos to be used or any spare ones to be frozen, but that's fine. (We moved abroad three years ago and never got to the ivf stage in the UK, so I'm not sure how different it is.)
I've called the clinic but they are fully booked for the dates I'd need, so I've now been given an appointment for early September. Let's see what happens next...

How do they decide whether you are getting one or two put back in?
