We've just booked for our second round to start August 2nd with egg collection September 8th.

I was on the Jan/Feb thread earlier this year.

I’ve been very quiet on this thread. Glad it’s kept going.

How is everyone today?

Great news about your eggs @Hansoo will you find out tomorrow about fertilisation? Your EC sounds similar to my first one.

Had my down reg scan today and start stims tomorrow with EC on the 8/9 - all being well and transfer on 13/9 - all being well. Trying not to think about it being an unlucky number ha!

@beachbum85 my scan went ok, 12 follicles so they are thinking of upping my meds. I had OHSS last time and was really sick so I would probably rather they didn’t!
Another scan on Friday to check progress.

@Gensola 12 follicles sounds great already! Are they thinking of upping your meds because they know you can recruit more based on last time? I really hope you don't develop OHSS... Fingers crossed for more good news on Fri :)

Thanks @2mumsandason and @Hansoo! Yes, it's not as many as others get, but I'd be extremely happy if we get around the 9 we got last time, but either way I'm more worried about the quality of eggs and development of embryos.

Hoping for good news for you and an EC date @Nerdalert - isolation is tough indeed! Let us know xx

@beachbum85 yes, last time I got 25 eggs but then only 11 fertilised and only 2 made it to blasts. Neither embryo stuck, so I’m a good example of quantity not being as important as quality. My eggs were apparently quite resistant to being fertilised (they have hard shells!!) which is a bit random.

@Gensola oh wow I'd not heard this issue of having hard shells before! Will you have ICSI then, or doesn't that help? It seems like most clinics push for highest numbers possible to increase our chances but I'm sure they know what they're doing in balancing maximum eggs with the risk of OHSS. I hope you get a better fertilisation and blast rate this time xx

So scan done, they have grown but to give me the best chance they want me to carry on with stims, another increase in dose til Friday, another scan booked and then hopefully trigger Saturday. EC Monday now! More isolation and now all the dates for transfer and test day are put back too! I know its for a very good reason, but this week is just not going to plan x

@Nerdalert that’s so frustrating, but hopefully it will increase your numbers?

@beachbum85 yeah I’ve googled it and it is called thickened zona pellucida and can be caused by age, over stimulation with IVF drugs (I think this is what happened to me) or smoking/passive smoking. It causes real issues with fertilisation and also implantation as the poor embryos get stuck inside the shell! Fingers crossed it won’t happen again.
We are having ISCI anyway as the whole reason we need IVF is because DH had a vasectomy, so he had to have his sperm surgically removed. If this cycle fails we will look into a reversal, but odds on that working are poor.

Hello ladies I hope you are all ok, it is inspiring but also sad to read what people have and are going through, you have all helped me a lot today as I was having a down day probably due to the medication, so thank you to everyone on here for sharing 😊 after 2x failed IVF and a natural miracle pregnancy that unfortunately ended at 17 weeks 😔 we are currently going through our 3rd IVF, my natural pregnancy ended 1x year ago and previous IVF treatment was 8x months previous so a while ago since our last IVF cycle, it has taken that length of time to be ready, string and confident to try again, we have 3 frozen egg embryo's left and have decided this will be our last attempt due to the emotional rollercoaster for us both and the drain on me due to the medication, we really wanted 2x eggs implanted this time however our clinic would not support this due to my age & risk etc.... we are due for the egg to be implanted next Tuesday and lots of different emotions from excited, happy, sad, worried etc.....we are trying our best to stay positive, we decided not to tell anyone to eliminate the additional pressure, I work from home so have managed to juggle work and any appointments, I have a week's holiday next week, I am on a cocktail of medication Buserlin, Clexane, prognova, prednisone, lubion, cyclogest and asprin, we asked the clinic if the treatment didn't work this time what additional medication would they recommend next time, so we asked if I could be prescribed it all this time as it's are last try, the luckily agreed 😊 ....We have everything crossed 3rd time lucky this one is the one, good luck to you all 😘 xx

It's strange how different clinics do egg collection. I was totally sedated, didn't feel anything and can't remember a thing. Out of my 7 eggs, 6 were mature and 3 fertilised. I'm OK with that, better than last time when 2 out of 8 fertilised. In on Sunday for transfer all being well 🤞🤞

Now a new ordeal. Pessaries. I have lubion injection instead

@Gensola - 12 follicles sounds really good. I guess they know what they are doing with the meds and think they will still steer you clear of OHSS. I can understand that you'd be concerned if you've been ill with it before. Hope things continue to progress well for the next scan

@Hansoo - in line with my tradition of messing up all meds the first time I take them, I managed to shoot the first pessary I opened like a bullet out the pack across the room and onto the floor 😩. Second one opened is now safely in place

@Bluebonnet3 is your EC on for tomorrow? Hope it goes well!

Feeling impatient for my scan tomorrow! They didn’t up my meds in the end, they don’t want to risk the OHSS again.

I notice I still have 5 more syringes of Fyremadel left, I hope I don’t have to stim for 5 more days
