Starting this thread early!

We've just booked for our second round to start August 2nd with egg collection September 8th.

I was on the Jan/Feb thread earlier this year.

Come join me :)

@KatRee if you are triggering tonight, doesn't that mean your EC is Wed? I thought triggers were 36 hours before EC, but maybe there are different ones. Are you on gonasi or something else?

@Hansoo you have your trigger tonight as well, exciting!

My clinic finally called after this morning's scan, and they said my EC will be Thursday. They will get back to me tomorrow with the actual appointment, and @beachbum85 trigger time I think will be tomorrow night. Tonight they lowered my meriofert dose, and I continue the cetrotide tomorrow morning. I don't know how many follicles they are hoping to get, but several measured over 15mm (or whatever the units are for follicles).

@Nerdalert so you might be triggering Wed, exciting stuff! Last time I had 12 days of stims
before trigger.

@Goldilocks2528 My first round was with nhs, and I wasn't offered any extras. But I did take part in a clinical trial for the embryoscope. I don't know if I was in the control group with a regular incubator or if I got the embryoscope. I was only eligible for one round with nhs, so I'm at a private clinic now. After talking with them about it, they seemed to recommend the ones with HFEA amber ratings, such as embryo glue and embryoscope, and then said the rest wouldn't hurt but may help and that one way of looking at it is: would you rather use the extras money towards another cycle (if this cycle doesn't work out) or maybe increase chances this cycle?

@SerendipitySunshine welcome! I hope we can distract you a little from your 2ww. Like like this group has lots going on in the next 2 weeks and beyond.

Hansoo · 23/08/2021 22:14

@katree
I will be preparing my trigger in next 25 minutes. I get the feeling it's quite a thick solution. I am doing 2 powder to one water.

I'm terrified for the EC. I get fentanyl and gas and air. But I'm terrible with the speculum. I'm kinda glad there are only 6 follicles to draw from.

KatRee · 23/08/2021 22:16

@Bluebonnet3 You're right- EC is Wednesday morning, don't know why I said Friday- just lose track of days when I'm not working I think! Trigger is all done now - it was Gonasi- also did my last cetrotide and meriofert this evening so tomorrow is a jab-free day!

Hansoo · 23/08/2021 22:34

Does any one have any tips for how to deal with the idea of not eating after midnight.
I always eat breakfast as soon as I get up. And I am generally always hungry first thing in a morning.

KatRee · 23/08/2021 22:59

Sorry @Hansoo must have posted same time and I missed yours- have you done the trigger now? I thought it was about the same consistency as the cetrotide but the powder dissolved a lot more quickly.
I'm also not looking forward to missing breakfast- as well as being hungry for me it's a bit of a ritual thing to set me up for the day and I miss the routine when I dint have it for some reason (which doesn't happen very often!)

itsmschanandlerbong · 23/08/2021 22:59

@KatRee best of luck for Wednesday!

I triggered last night so am in tomorrow (Tuesday) for EC! Feeling all sorts of emotions, mainly fear 🤣 keeping everything crossed 🤞🏻🤞🏻

KatRee · 23/08/2021 23:02

@Hansoo I'm nervous about the EC too. I don't know exactly how this kind of sedation works as it's not something I've had before. The info the clinic says it's not general anaesthetic, but I'm not likely to remember anything afterwards. I always focus on taking long deep breaths with anything like this - that's the only coping mechanism I have

KatRee · 23/08/2021 23:04

@itsmschanandlerbong Thank you and good luck to you for tomorrow! I really hope everything goes well 🤞😘

Hansoo · 23/08/2021 23:07

Trigger shot completed..yes I thought same consistency but I don't think I had the mixing needle on right so I lost the odd drop water. Also I found it stung and burned. I'm fine now. No bleeding.

Hansoo · 23/08/2021 23:11

@katree
I have to go to hospital at 8.30 on Wednesday. The procedure is at 10.45. They will give me temazepam and then fentanyl and gas and air. I do expect to feel something. I expect to be out by 1pm.

I'm finding the journey so hard to have positive thoughts when the odds are so low of this being successful..

The injections have been quite a challenge and being honest I'm not sure I could do all this again.

beachbum85 · 23/08/2021 23:19

@itsmschanandlerbong good luck for tomorrow!! Sending you positive thoughts and let us know how you get on xx

@Hansoo and @Katree Glad the trigger is done! Enjoy your jab-free day and very best of luck for EC on Wed - I'll be thinking of you both xx
I was really worried about EC the first time round, but it was really easy... I was sedated, so I can't speak to gas and air, but it was painless and it was over really quickly. I know it's impossible not to worry about what happens next, but one step at a time - you should be proud of yourself for getting this far xx

@Bluebonnet3 very exciting that you've got your EC date and several over 15mm sounds great :) Yes, I think the trigger is always 36h before, so your trigger should be tomorrow!
This sounds like the same clinical trial they've asked us to participate in - TILT right? Any advice on that? We've leaning towards saying yes, but I'm going to speak to the rep on Wed when I go in for the scan and go through some questions.

@ChasingRainbow, as @Katree said, it's fine but use protection just in case. I must admit I'm a bit envious as I feel so unsexy that DTD is the very last thing on my mind Grin

Thanks @Katree - I'll update after Wed scan for sure. @SerendipitySunshine nice to see you here as well! @Bluebonnet3 is right, plenty of updates coming up over the next few days if you need a distraction from your 2ww :)

KatRee · 23/08/2021 23:31

@Hansoo - I also lost a couple of drops of this one- there was a line on the syringe that I thought was the liquid and pressed to get it to the top- but it already was at the top! 😩. I thought it stung a bit too
I understand what you mean- to be honest I have felt a bit despairing today, like I'm readying myself for bad news. I started this round expecting and prepared to do more than one, but we'll see...
I do think we are all amazing for putting ourselves through this, and it has worked for lots of women including those given very low odds. I'm really hoping it works for you and me and everyone here too xx

KatRee · 23/08/2021 23:36

Thanks @beachbum85.

ngy21 · 24/08/2021 10:01

Wow so many things going on this week!

@Hansoo @KatRee @Bluebonnet3 @itsmschanandlerbong good luck with your EC's!

Can't wait for everyones updates :)

@SerendipitySunshine welcome!!

Gensola · 24/08/2021 11:10

My drugs are starting to have an effect now - boobs are sore and larger, and I feel tired and a bit sick. First progress scan tomorrow at 1130. Last time I was on stims for 10 days, so hoping for EC early next week.

Bluebonnet3 · 24/08/2021 11:25

Good luck for EC today @itsmschanandlerbong !

Goldilocks2528 · 24/08/2021 11:42

Hi @ChasingRainbow
Sorry not been on that drug, hopefully others can help.
I'd say yes to dtd, we did and all was fine. Was told after transfer we could as soon as I felt ready, which didn't sit right with me so we left it about 2 weeks, and that was fine too. I asked right after the transfer and the nurse said nobody had ever asked that before, and had to go off to find out. Surely I cant have been the first?! Funny.

Bluebonnet3 · 24/08/2021 11:57

My clinic called this morning with the plan for EC on Thursday. This evening at 10:30pm is the trigger (3x gonasi, they are really going for it). No further stims today and nothing at all tomorrow (except for the tablets they put me on for high prolactin and my usual thyroid medicine). Fasting from Wed midnight, no water from 4am. Arrive at 10am with DH, when he will do his bit and I will get prepped for 10:30 EC. I completely forgot to ask what sedation they will use. Apparently DH can sit with me in the recovery room and then take me home after 1-2 hours.

Last time (nhs clinic in hospital) I had general anaesthetic, which was great during the procedure as I was completely out and didn't feel a thing. But afterwards my blood pressure was quite low with low heart rate (below 40 bpm!) Eventually i had some tea and biscuits and was out of the recovery room after about 2 hours. I did need extra painkillers while I was in the recovery room, and for the next couple of days found it hard to sit or sleep comfortably. (Lying flat was quite painful.) I found one position on the couch where I was mostly ok, so I sat and watched lots of Netflix.

Gensola · 24/08/2021 13:38

@Hansoo don't worry about EC, I remember literally nothing from mine! It was completely pain free as far as I am aware.

2mumsandason · 24/08/2021 14:06

Wow, there is loads going on this week!!

@Hansoo @KatRee @Bluebonnet3 and @itsmschanandlerbong good luck for your EC's - I'm sure they will all go well. I guess you just have to try and relax as best you can (I know that's a lot easier said than done!!). It will be over before you know it.

@beachbum85 and @Nerdalert good luck for your scans - I hope the follicles have grown some more for you 😊

It's a very exciting time for you all - I've got everything crossed for you xx

beachbum85 · 24/08/2021 14:56

Thank you @2mumsandason :)

@Bluebonnet3 great to hear that you've got the time and the plan. Very best of luck with the trigger tonight and I hope you have an equally smooth EC on Thurs, and an even easier recovery than last time!

@itsmschanandlerbong I hope everything went well today and you're feeling OK xx

Good luck for tomorrow @Gensola - let us know how it goes and I hope those side effects don't get too bad!

@Goldilocks2528 @ngy21 how are you doing?

Hansoo · 24/08/2021 15:30

@itsmschanandlerbong

Hope all went well today

Goldilocks2528 · 24/08/2021 15:39

Gosh it's all go ladies!! Exciting!!!!

@Hansoo @KatRee @Bluebonnet3 @itsmschanandlerbong good luck with your egg collections. I am the biggest wuss in the entire universe. My clinic give you 4 local injections in your cervix and then gas and air.... I was beyond terrified but honestly it was fine. If I was ok, you most defiantly will be! x

@beachbum85 and @Nerdalert please let us know how you get on with your scans x

I'm ok thanks @beachbum85. 1 week down, and I stop the norethisterone tablets after today. My down reg scan is 2nd Sept, and I have a very large work event I am running that day. Terrible timing. Scan is 0815am, and the appointment takes an hour as it is consent forms too. I have to drive 30 mins to the venue after that, guests will arrive from 0945am. I'm going to have to get a work collage to try and cover my arse.... haven't told the boss so need to think up some excuse for turning up late for the set up before guests arrive. Stress I could do without to be honest, but cant be helped!

Goldilocks2528 · 24/08/2021 15:40

@itsmschanandlerbong hope you are feeling ok and all went well.

ngy21 · 24/08/2021 16:15

Hey @beachbum85 doing well thanks! Down reg scan booked for 31st and hoping to start stims on or day after the scan. How are you feeling? Good luck with your scan!!

@Goldilocks2528 it seems we may have very close timings for stims, once your DR has been confirmed i assume you will also be starting stims??? I have my scan 2 days before yours!
