Starting this thread early!

We've just booked for our second round to start August 2nd with egg collection September 8th.

I was on the Jan/Feb thread earlier this year.

Good luck @Misty84

Good luck @Misty84! xx

Hi @Ems2021 - how did yesterday's test go? 🤞for you

Hi @Gensola - that's a big decision, do you know what you're going to do?

I'm now on day 4 of my first ivf cycle- short protocol, so this evening will be my third stims injection. I was surprised to find inserting the needle very easy, but the first injection I managed to lose quite a bit of the liquid and felt pretty stressed out by that. Yesterday I found quite a lot of resistance when depressing the plunger so felt like I had the needle in for ages, which wasn't much fun

@Misty84 Thinking of you today! 🤞👏😘

Hansoo · 16/08/2021 10:07

@KatRee
I totally understand where you are coming from. As a newbie too I'm finding it to be an awkward process. I managed to hold the pen straight today. My 4th injection day will be with syringe and needle and injection.

Every step seems to come with new anxieties.

KatRee · 16/08/2021 12:06

@Hansoo I feel like it would have helped a lot to be able to do the first one at the clinic with a nurse. Demos and videos are good, but seems like I need a little bit of actual practice too.

ngy21 · 16/08/2021 12:18

@Lotusflower1990000 yes hoping our bodies will adjust! I had to do mine in the car yesterday... just thinking to myself if i want to continue to have a social life i need to be able to do my injections in a lot of different settings! I didn't get nauseous but a small headache this time. Either way, still better results. I think i'm getting the hang of this injection thing now, but will see what happens when it comes to multiple injections! The needles for the stims and trigger seem to be a lot smaller than the buserelin shots?! So i'm confident it should be "easier".

@Gensola so sorry that the first round didn't work out, good luck for your next one! Do you think you would want to go through with transferring 2 embryos?

ngy21 · 16/08/2021 12:19

@Misty84 good luck!!!

Hansoo · 16/08/2021 14:05

@KatRee
Yeah I agree. The nurse rushed through it like it was easy. But she has done it a million times and it's probably very easy for her to sit and explain. I am dreading the proper needle and syringe. I have found the pen a little easier today. I'm not sure if I should just do one after the other. My hospital didn't give me a medication schedule as such. They just recommended same time each day.

Misty84 · 16/08/2021 16:35

Thanks so much for the support everyone.

4 eggs retrieved from 4 follicles which is the best I could’ve hoped for! I cried with relief.

We have to convert to ICSI so now it’s just a waiting game to see what happens…

ngy21 · 16/08/2021 20:15

@Misty84 so glad you got your best outcome!

I've had a bit of a doh moment... just today prepping my buserelin injections and realised i have been measuring the dosage from the wrong black line!!!! Angry bit annoyed with myself... i don't know if i have been doing it the same all the time but i had just noticed today... means i've been giving myself .43ml instead of the full .5ml...

Should i be worried? (face palm moment)

Hansoo · 16/08/2021 22:52

@misty84
Congratulations. So pleased for you.

@ngy21
Will your clinic advise you of what to do.

I have put a reminder to give them a call tomorrow and double check. Very annoyed at myself. I just hope the DR has worked so the little dosages that I may or may not have missed out on doesn't cause an issue.

Waiting on AF at the moment so all I can do is keep injecting buserelin!

Ems2021 · 17/08/2021 07:42

@KatRee thanks for asking.....yesterday and todays tests. The FRER had a barely there squinter on 4dpt, definite by 5dpt. But digitals negative until this morning at 8dpt. Internet cheapies still not showing anything

wow seem to have missed a lot! Forget how quickly these threads can move sometimes. I got my drug delivery yesterday ready to start norethisterone on Sunday.

@Lotusflower1990000 @ngy21 @KatRee All clinics are different. My clinic is one of the very 'hands off' in terms of appointments - I wont have any bloods or scans or appointments of any kind until day 8 of stims if it makes anyone feel better!

ngy21 · 17/08/2021 10:01

@Ems2021Congratulations!

@2mumlife Are you on the short protocol? I think if I went on the short one, they would have only wanted to see me from day 8, 10 and 12 and no bloods. I'm glad we have these forums so we can feel less alone lol

Hansoo · 17/08/2021 10:27

Congratulations @Ems2021

I made a mistake this morning of not pinching myself to inject. Ouch!! Sad

Bluebonnet3 · 17/08/2021 11:07

@Misty84 hope you are recovering well after ec. How did you find it? Fingers crossed for the 4! Do you know if you will get daily updates from the clinic?

@Ems2021 congrats! Must be reassuring to be getting lines on a variety of tests! When is your official test day? Will your clinic do a blood test?

beachbum85 · 17/08/2021 15:31

Hi again everyone! I was away for a few days and just catching up on everything...

@Misty84 congrats on getting all 4 eggs - that's great and I'm so happy for you :) best of luck with fertilisation and over the next few days xx

@Bluebonnet3 @Hansoo and @KatRee great to hear that your baseline scans went well and you've started! That sounds like a totally crazy Friday, @Bluebonnet3!!
How was yesterday's scan @Hansoo? I've had some bruising too and I think it may be the angle of the needle going in? We were told to do Buserelin in the morning and then stims in the evening after 7pm, but I think it's our clinic's preference in case they need to update us to change doses or anything like that.

@Nerdalert how has it been on Gonal F?

@ngy21 hope your side effects haven't been too bad xx I do think the Gonal F injections are easier than Buserelin, since it's a pen, so multiple injections shouldn't be much worse than just the one. As for the dose... the first couple of days of the first round on Buserelin, we were having trouble with the syringes and got a bit less in than we should have, and the nurse said not to worry, they keep that in mind. But I would definitely check if it's been less all throughout...

@KatRee I was just telling my partner this weekend: if it doesn't work, it'll be shitty and disappointing even if I had tried to prepare myself for it, so might as well stay positive in the meantime! Easier said than done, of course :)

@Gensola hello! I hope this cycle leads to a better outcome for you :) we have always been open to transferring 2 but our clinic hasn't given us that opportunity (I'm also 35 with 1 failed transfer of a not-so-great embryo) and then the thought of twins is quite overwhelming... totally personal decision of course and hopefully you'll know what to do when the time comes to decide xx

@Ems2021 congratulations!!

I had my baseline scan today... all was fine, Buserelin has been working and I start stims this evening :) there were 9 follicles they could see, down from 11 last baseline, but I'm trying not to worry too much about the numbers and just hope for a good response!

Fingers crossed for everyone and I hope you're well xx

Hansoo · 17/08/2021 15:49

Hi @beachbum85
Scan was Saturday and my lining was sufficient that they said I could start meds. They didn't say much more than that. Just had the training for injections.

I'm not doing burserelin. They gave me rekovelle and another injection that I will need to prepare and mix before injecting.

I'm back at work tomorrow so just trying to work a system for taking it to work as I will need to inject while I'm there.

beachbum85 · 17/08/2021 16:23

@Hansoo oh sorry, I misread and thought you had another scan - good luck for next Monday's then :)
Sorry, no experience with those injections here so I really don't know about timing but since the clinic didn't give you a schedule, I guess the time you take them is flexible as long as it stays the same.
Best of luck with the preparation and the neddle/syringes - like everything else, it gets better once you get the hang of it xx

2mumlife · 17/08/2021 16:33

@ngy21 Yup on short protocol this time, but last time did a long protocol with downregulation, and was only seen on day 8 of stims (no baseline scan etc).

@beachbum85 Enjoy getting started on stims!

@Hansoo That must be a pain doing it at work. I'm kind of glad I've been doing all my cycles during lockdown - makes it easier with injection and particularly when it comes to progesterone suppositories in the middle of the day!

KatRee · 17/08/2021 17:50

@Ems2021 looks like congratulations are in order! You're getting nice progression on those tests! Did they tell you the official test day?

@beachbum85 Glad your baseline scan went well, sounds like you are off to a promising start

@2mumlife That does make me feel better thanks. I think I went for my baseline scan a bit too early and was a bit concerned about that, so it's good to know some places don't do baseline scans at all

Ems2021 · 17/08/2021 17:52

@KatRee thank you. ODT not until Saturday, very naughty of me I know 🤣

KatRee · 17/08/2021 18:11

@Ems2021 Aaah, I don't blame you not being able to wait- exciting times! 🤞for a sticky little bean

Gensola · 17/08/2021 20:20

Thanks for the welcome Smile
@KatRee and @ngy21
I am conflicted on putting 2 back, but I’d rather have twins than no baby so I am tempted to go for it. My mum had my little brother via IVF and she had two back but only he stuck.
Just waiting for AF to arrive so I can start injecting, I’m on a short protocol too.
