Couldn't see a thread for May so I thought I'd start one!

Anyone else doing their cycle in May? I just got my calendar through and all the injections look extremely Not Fun (this is my first time doing it) 😕

@JesHope345 I know right. Where's the fast forward button...? How is yours and @mowglika pelvis/ovaries feeling?

2mumlife · 25/04/2021 19:17

@notyetamumbuttrying No worries :) In trying not to read too much into it yet as hoping this little embryo sticks about. This one has been beating the odds whole time (they first weren't sure it was fertilised, didn't think it looked great quality at day 3, and then little beauty was a 4AA on day 5). In oddly super attached it this one already which I know I shouldn't be as I feel I'm just setting myself up for heartbreak

@TinyPaws that seems a crazy increase! I didn't think AMH scores should change so rapidly, and not upwards!

Nothing much to report here other than I started buserelin yesterday - my husband was brilliant, he did the injection and I didn't feel a thing! (I did ice the area 5 minutes beforehand) - hopefully the stims will be as much of a doddle as these appear to be!

Had my first stims scan:

11 follicles on right
8 follicles on left

9 of the follicles are over 10mm

My left ovary is annoyingly sitting on top of my uterus. She said she hopes it moves before EC 🙏🤞

JesHope345 · 26/04/2021 12:45

I had my scan today. It was a bit deflating, not much going on. I have more follicles developing but not much growing going on. They may up my stims depending on my blood test but if I don’t get a call this afternoon it means I remain on the same dosage. Hoping the follicles start to grow.

Crazydoglady123 · 26/04/2021 13:01

@JesHope345 try not to stress too much yet. I've seen quite a few people in your position and they've changed the dose and by the next scan they've grown loads

mowglika · 26/04/2021 13:04

@JesHope345 it was your first scan so still early days? Did they tell you how many follicles there were? Fingers crossed the follicles grow, when is your next scan?

@Crazydoglady123 sounds good Smile - what will happen if the ovary doesn’t move? Does it just make it harder to get to?

So I had my first scan too, I forgot to take note of the sizes but I had 21 follicles - 9 on the left and 12 on the right. Quite similar to what I had in my last cycle, and I didn’t get eggs from every follicle so fc I get that 1 good embryo out of it.

mowglika · 26/04/2021 13:05

Also @JesHope345 are you eating well to encourage the follicles to grow? A lot of clinics seem to recommend 1 pint of milk a day so that’s an easy thing to do, see if it makes a difference

Crazydoglady123 · 26/04/2021 13:08

@mowglika ah amazing! Yours sounds similar to me. I'm hoping the smaller ones catch up, still early days. Yeah from what I can imagine there's be a risk the wouldn't be able to get to it for egg collection so praying it moves 🙏

mowglika · 26/04/2021 13:19

You’ll probably get more come through over the next few days. I have a couple of front runners at 15mm but I guess those will be sacrificed to allow the smaller ones to develop depending on what size they are.

From my reading the slower developing eggs are more likely to be higher quality/mature on collection.

I’m going back in 2 days for the next scan

notyetamumbuttrying · 26/04/2021 13:30

@2mumlife aww I can see why you are though! How comes you can't transfer until the end of May?
@clolo yay honey!! No idea what one of those is but I'm sure these lovely ladies do. When's your first scan then?
@TheSnufflet thanks for the latest update. Glad the first injection went ok. Not sure if I'll do it or Dh yet. Probs me I reckon tho, I think he'll be too nervous and then make me feel nervous.
@Crazydoglady123 great results hun!
@JesHope345 sounds like they will grow with the higher dose then! 🤞🏾
@mowglika lots of scans today then! Great results too! Good luck for the next one x

Crazydoglady123 · 26/04/2021 13:34

@mowglika one of mine is bigger but we're not sure if it's my cyst or a collapsed follicle or they'd cleared up and just a bigger but new follicle. Mines on weds too. Everything crossed for us all 🤞

JesHope345 · 26/04/2021 14:19

Thanks for the encouragement ladies.

I have 30 follicles in total, I was put on a low dose because I’m at risk of OHSS. I’m guess it was best to safe, hopefully I will start to see growth with higher dose 🤞

notyetamumbuttrying · 26/04/2021 14:55

@clolo ooh yeah it is!! Nope not been told that yet but I wonder if I will once I go for my first/last scan before stimming starts.

@JesHope345 fingers crossed my lovely ☺️

Tarsette · 26/04/2021 14:55

@JesHope345 I had a very similar situation to yours during my EC in March. I was on Gonal F 250 as i had a high number of follicles (25 or so) but as my follicles were growing a bit slowly, they ended up adding in some Menopur. They also made me stim for around 15 days!

Nix49816 · 26/04/2021 15:01

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining in this thread? Had a look through trying to see where people are up to. We had a failed round of IVF in Feb/March and am now on with my first FET cycle. Got a scan Thursday to see if my lining is thick enough to start pessaries, if so hopefully transfer one of my 5 freezer fish next week 😬 How are you all getting on?

StrongEagle · 26/04/2021 16:22

Hello again!

I need to learn how to tag people in posts 😂 I used to think I was good with tech!

Thank you for the advice on vitamins, I have been taking the recommended ones for a while, and thanks so much for the food recommendations. I just read about drinking lots of milk as well.

I should be getting my dates this week ready to start my stims next week. I feel like I have watched every YouTube vlog going and know what to expect. But from those of you who have been through this before do the injections make you feel sick?

I am loving reading all your updates and excited to have found a bunch of people to go through this with xx

mowglika · 26/04/2021 16:51

@StrongEagle depends what injections you are on, I’m on menopur and fyremedal, been feeling a bit tired on the menopur and felt queasy for the first time today on fyremedal but it’s all manageable so far.

@clolo I think the embryoscope is particularly recommended if you have fewer embryos, it just means they are disturbed less and they can also watch how division etc occurs so they can pinpoint any abnormalities thag would normally be missed. They can use an algorithm as well to rate the embryos potential success rate. Is it included for you or are you paying extra for it?

Thanks @notyetamumbuttrying Smile

Also asked my clinic about bank holidays and they said they do work on holidays and bank holidays so that’s a worry averted!

StrongEagle · 26/04/2021 16:59

Thanks @mowglika (yay! Worked out how to tag someone). Do you have to take them at a certain time of day? How have you found the injections? X

Has anyone else exhausted the YouTube library of IVF journeys? I have been addicted, it's really helped me understand what to expect. I am really considering making my own to help others going through it, not sure I am brave enough but I really want to Smile

TinyPaws · 26/04/2021 17:35

@Colo cost is the only reason I wouldn't choose the embryoscope. There might not be a huge amount of high quality evidence for it's benefits but clinically it has no downsides. My clinic includes it in the cost of their cycles.

@TheSnufflet Congrats on your first injection

@Crazydoglady123 @mowglika That sounds like a great results for your first scans!

@JesHope345 Sorry the scan showed disappointing follice growth, fingers crossed they start to grow a bit more

My meds got delivered this morning and the document with my protocol instructions arrived today too. We just need to iron out one little technical issue with our online consents and then we are all set! I start norethisterone tomorrow!

TeaAndCrumpets1 · 26/04/2021 17:57

I had my first stims scan today. I had 24 follicles in total (way more on my right), of which 15 are 10mm+. I’ve got a couple at 15mm already. I’m a low-AMH’er and my AFC for this cycle was 13 so I’m a bit shocked at where all those follicles have come from! I’m on 450 of Meriofert which might explain things, as I think that’s about max dose! I’m concerned though now that they’ll be bad quality as they’ve grown so quickly... Hmm

@TheSnufflet thank you lovely 💓 it seems to have come round so quick!

@Crazydoglady123 that’s great, so pleased that your first scan went well for you, and fingers crossed stims keep doing their job over the next few days for you. Hopefully that left ovary moves for you!

@JesHope345 I’m so sorry you weren’t happy with your scan. Hopefully the stims start to take effect over the next few days for you. Have you heard anything from your clinic about possibly increasing your dose? xx

@clolo We're lucky embryoscope comes as standard at our clinic. Good luck!

@notyetamumbuttrying We decided to sit out this current April cycle to give us some more time after failed transfer and also because I'm really busy with work. Didn't expect my last cycle last month to last so long, but oh well.

@Nix49816 Hi! I was also on the Feb/March thread. I'll be doing my first FET end of May hopefully. Good luck!

@StrongEagle I felt nothing on downregulation (Prostap), a bit bloated on stims (Menopur), and cyclogest gave me sore boobs and toilet issues (bowel cramps, urgent need to go, not the constipation everyone else seems to get...) Good luck!

Sounds like lots of follies coming along nicely! @JesHope345 I wouldn't worry about slow growers, my first scan I had a couple of really big lead follicules and my E2 was high so had to trigger that night earlier than expected, and without time for all my smaller follicules to get the chance to catch up, and got a poor outcome. Slow and steady wins the race I feel now.
