ERA testing after multiple implantation failures. Anyone had it done?

I've had four transfers so far (first 3 from 1 batch, fourth from a second egg collection) and 4 BFNs. I have a naturally conceived 4 1/2 year old and had a natural pregnancy with early miscarriage a bit over 3 years ago. My lining struggles to get to thickness, I have polycystic ovaries (on sukkarto), a fibroid, slightly high thyroid thingy (on levothyroxine), high bp (on meds) and a midline septum (ridge/divide in the uterus). I had surgery to unblock a tube 2 years ago. I'm in the healthy weight range.

My clinic have suggested PGS testing (we have 5 embryos in the freezer) but I'm really not keen on it as I've read about actually fine embryos being shown as poor and therefore being disposed of.

They also suggested ERA (endometrial receptor assessment). Has anyone had that done and found it useful? I just hate anything that delays the next FET but I think maybe it will be worth it?

Any other suggestions? Last FET I was on lots of estrogen, extra progesterone injections, clexane, neupogen infusion, aspirin and probably a whole load of other stuff I've forgotten.

I am so fed up with it all!

@ForeverAintEnough12 that looks good, a preconception vitamin with good bacteria added Smile I don't think enough importance is given to the microflora when TTC.

That's interesting that it doesn't seem to have a triple lining appearance this time. I wonder why, if you've always has it before.

I saw my mock cycle as an opportunity to learn so things could be adapted for the next FET too. So hopefully these things can be sorted before the next cycle. What day are they going to do your biopsy on?

ForeverAintEnough12 · 24/05/2021 13:27

@Gardenlady543 agreed. I think microflora and general guy health is important and not considered enough. The reason I went with that pre conception vitamin over a normal one plus probiotic is there’s so little info out there on them. I did initially get the optibac I see you mentioned but decided to move to that multi vitamin.

Previous lining scans were all when doing a fresh round of ivf so on Stims this is my first time doing a FET protocol so I wonder if it’s the type of meds. This then puts me in position of deciding to do a fresh type protocol to get triple layer and transferring frozen embryo or doing FET protocol with no triple layer but an idea of when I am receptive. So another not clear cut situation.

How are you getting on? Ive been reading your progress on this thread. Will you go for another transfer soon?

bluepixie · 24/05/2021 13:44

@ForeverAintEnough12 thanks for your wishes. Time is passing slowly!

I am obsessed with triple stripe! As I have ashermans and I lost my triple stripe so I’m forever researching and reading. For me I always had it in natural cycle my FeT and stim cycles and then it went after my son so that was a sign something was wrong as it was a change. But some women just don’t have them / or only get them with low dose stims / or only naturally. I would wait and see what your lining does at the end of this ERa before your progesterone it just might take a bit longer to become triple. It’s the ideal to have triple (as means it’s receptive) but not the be all and end all. If u def get triple on stims then maybe a FEt with low dose stims is way forward. I’ve had a small bit (maybe 20 percent) of my triple reappear post surgery but it’s not great. I also got some more signs of my triple stripe once my microbiome was treated which my specialist says he sees.

Gardenlady543 · 24/05/2021 13:50

@ForeverAintEnough12
I have always been told I've had a triple layer when I've been on the estradiol but then it was gone on the day of FET transfer and ERA biopsy, I'm hoping it might be there this time now the microflora is improved.

I think you'll need to see what the endometrium looks like on the day of the biopsy and see what the results show and decide what to do for the next transfer.

I am day 4 of my FET, first scan is a week today :)

bluepixie · 24/05/2021 14:25

@Gardenlady543 once ur lining gets any progesterone the triple is meant to go and becomes homogenous (no ones is triple after ovulation as progesterone causes the change) . It’s ideal to have it pre ovulation / pre introducing progesterone. So urs is behaving perfectly!

Gardenlady543 · 24/05/2021 14:36

@Cream123 Oh that's interesting because when my specialist was telling me about the patchiness, she said it's supposed to look white with a triple lining on the transfer day.

bluepixie · 24/05/2021 14:37

No - the patchiness prob isn’t ideal...mine is also patchy but coz of scarring..But def not meant to be triple on transfer day / biopsy day I’ve no idea why she said that Hmm

Gardenlady543 · 24/05/2021 20:12

@Cream123 I don't either, well thats reassuringly one less thing to deal with!

Today is day 4 of my FET, the nausea is here Sad it usually starts at day 7 but in my 1st FET and mock cycle I was on much lower doses of estradiol.

bluepixie · 25/05/2021 07:26

@Gardenlady543 sorry your feeling sick. Mine settled about 2.5 weeks into the oestrogen mainly coz I started eating loads more carbs I think. It’s not been great for the waistline but at least I’m not struggling everyday! Do u think it would help if u ate more and often?

I’m not sure how I’m going to last till sat. I’m sure I’m Out :(
But I also don’t want to test and then think
Oh maybe it’s too early I’ll try again tmrw coz I hate that even more! Plus I would rather know I have the day with DH to mope around eat cake and get wasted. Sigh. It’s only Tuesday!

Gardenlady543 · 25/05/2021 08:21

@Cream123 people seem to get BFPs from 4dp5dt, so you could technically test tomo. I would cave, but obviously then you could get a false negative or pick up a chemical. My OTD is 16dt this time which is weird.

bluepixie · 25/05/2021 08:28

I think I mentioned what happened with
My son? HCG of 10 - 7dp5dt and the line that am was not visible on frer (maybe with the eye of faith it was so so so light) so I really don’t want to test before then as I know u can be negative till then from my Own exp! And I hate the stupid hope and the Googling of chances of having a postive if negative in x y z. I’m just going to wait. Then if it’s a bfn on sat and Sunday 7 and 8 days post I know I’m out.

bluepixie · 25/05/2021 08:33

I will keep going mad till then though! Yeah care always do very late OtD at mine too

Gardenlady543 · 25/05/2021 08:42

@Cream123 oh looks like you're going to have to hold out until Saturday then Smile

bluepixie · 27/05/2021 13:40

Hi guys how is everyone
@Gardenlady543 hope ur not feeling sick still? Are u still doing vaginal and oral probiotics? Good luck for ur scan on Monday

I’m still Going mad slowly!

Gardenlady543 · 27/05/2021 16:45

Hi @Cream123 the nausea started earlier this cycle, I'm on 2mg three times a day orally and 2mg three times a day vaginally. I saw the acupuncture person on Tuesday.

I've been feeling really anxious which is quite out of character for me. I guess now I know the receptive window, I have the heparin for the first time, the microflora has been treated and I know I'm using a euploid embryo. I've convinced myself that this will work and if all this doesn't work, then I don't know what else I can do. I called up to book in with the counsellor but they don't have any appointments until around the time of the transfer but have put me on a cancellation list.

How are you getting on? not long to go until you can do a test now!

My OTD is 16 days post transfer which seems so long.

bluepixie · 27/05/2021 21:40

@Gardenlady543 It’s natural to feel anxious.a lot riding on this transfer. But don’t be thinking about next steps now. Take each thing as it comes. For now it’s your scan on Monday . Then it’s the transfer etc. You can’t predict what it happen so just go with it. It’s so shit I know :( I vividly rem how I felt trying for my first it’s really exquisitely stressful. You have done a lot to get this one to stick and hopefully everything will align up and it will be fine....I’ll be keeping eveything crossed for you. There is always something more to do if it comes to it , the more u look the more u find and you wonder how the hell anyone ever manages a pregnancy!

I had a counsellor when trying for first she was amazing and it really Helped to have my space to talk about my fears and worries and just a good old cry! Def give her a go if she gets a slot.

I’m going mad. May test tmrw.....

Gardenlady543 · 28/05/2021 07:47

Thanks @Cream123 Thanks hopefully the scan will go fine on Monday and I can relax a bit.

Argh not long until you can test, 1 more sleep!!

bluepixie · 28/05/2021 08:20

@Gardenlady543 thanks. I actually broke early and tested - It’s positive.
Its my 8th pregnancy so not getting excited but grateful mr lower did his job to get me to this place.
Good luck for scan, keep us posted
Xx

Gardenlady543 · 28/05/2021 09:15

@Cream123 Omg congratulations!!

seven201 · 28/05/2021 14:39

I haven't been on here this week as I've been snowed under but just seen your positive @Cream123! Oh my goodness, that's amazing. I know you don't want to get too excited understandably but it's super that the embryo has been able to implant. Fingers crossed for you!

@Gardenlady543 how are you doing? I see you have a scan on Monday. What cd will that be?

@ForeverAintEnough12 how are you doing?

@Gardenlady543 and @seven201 thanks for ur kind words.

@seven201 do u know when you might get going with ur cycle? May it tie in with your summer holidays - ur a teacher right?

@garden hope your feeling a bit better today x

Gardenlady543 · 28/05/2021 17:21

@Cream123 I hope everything keeps going well, for the stage you’re at right now you’ve got the best outcome possible! Which is great news.

@seven201 I’ll be CD11 on Monday with the scan in the morning, I’m now worrying about my ovaries producing follicles and having to convert to a natural cycle which might be cancelled if it falls on a weekend. In my first letter my specialist said this can happen in 10% of cases, which seems really high. Also a bit apprehensive to see how the lining is.

I have not been feeling well, feeling fatigued and just generally run down. I will try and have a bit of a rest of the weekend. Will try and focus on spending some time outside, it’s so nice in my garden right now, I must mention the garden with it being in my username and yet I never talk about it! I have a great tit that has set itself up in a bird box. I can watch it all day long, it goes in and out of the box and when it flies off you can hear the babies chirping.

bluepixie · 28/05/2021 18:41

@Gardenlady543 wow that’s a lot?! I thought it was 1 percent . Ur on very high doses of oestrogen and if it’s not happened before I think u will be fine. I took 2mg tds for 7 days then added in a patch and I didn’t ovulaye through that and I also started on day 3 of cycle. It’s natural to worry at every step though: fingers crossed for a nice thick triple lining :)

bluepixie · 29/05/2021 07:56

Dunno why but I did another frer
The line isn’t darker
I’m gutted :( think I’m having a chemical not sure I can handle all this again. Was ivf cycle 8 :( and I’m so worn out :(
