Anyone else starting investigations this month?

Hiya just wondering if there are any ladies on here who have been TTC 1yr+ and are seeking help from GP this month as I've just requested a call from my gp to discuss and would like someone to buddy up with as I'm scared! 😂

@acaciabluebell I’m annoyed for you!! That all sounds a bit ridiculous! Did you mention your CP in the end?

I went to two different GPs within the same practice and they both gave me totally different advice and would have sent my referral off at different times. One said that I had to have ALL tests done before the form was even sent off but the other one said she would send it off whilst those tests were pending. So if I went with the first GP, our referral wouldn’t even be in the system yet because of the issue with DP’s SA!

@paintfairy I’m glad you had a slightly better experience! Can you let us know how the HSG goes? I think that might be the first step for us after the initial consultation.

I called the fertility clinic this week and left a message but still waiting to hear back from them.

Also in the TWW and driving myself mad as usual...just fed up of spending two weeks of every month feeling like this, I’m mentally drained 😭

@Riviera90 See that's insane! My GP was like the first one you described and said we had to have all the tests and results back before we could even get referred. So annoying, it meant that we had to wait 3 extra months. Thankfully I went to my GP a bit early as I had a feeling this would happen, and we've just passed the 12 month mark now and have been referred.

I didn't mention the CP, I was so annoyed with her during the phonecall that I forgot 😂

Btw did you guys get confirmation of your referral? I'm not sure how it works. Do you get a letter in the post?

@Riviera90 i don't know- i rang the GP originally in July and only got the referral in January! Purely because they couldn't take a blood test. 🤣 So not ideal. But after that it's gone fast!
Yes I'll let you know how the HSG goes! Dreading it! But had a negative test this morning at 12dpo - so no hiding from it!

😂😂 like you say though it may have worked against you so probably best you didn’t!

I haven’t got anything at all yet and it’s been four months. I was expecting a letter but who knows!

@paintfairy sorry to hear it’s another BFN today. Good luck for the HSG!! Think about the positives after it in that you’ll know where you stand and you’re supposed to be more fertile afterwards 😊

hey all so i had my internal scan last week and i have my blue dye test today, getting nervous now lol, hopefully getting the results sometime next week. How has everyone been and what`s your progress

No real updates...had one of my lowest days of this journey on Sunday with it being Mother’s Day and then AF arrived 3 days early 😔 so now I’m worrying about how short my LP is on top of everything else!

I’m still waiting to hear back from the clinic

hey both, didn't go to well they couldn't get the tube into my cervix tried 5 times and only got 6ml into it, they are going to send the images to the consultant of what they could get, in a lot of pain at the moment even though I didn't feel much there but guessing that's because they had to try so much. Hopefully you will be seen too and have it done this month. Mothers day was really hard for me this year as well as going through this it was my mothers birthday too (shes passed) so decided to stay in bed and watch netflix all day lol

@nadeelia oh no. That doesn't sound pleasant. I'm sorry about your mum. Those days are always hard. Definitely nothing wrong with watching netflix all day!

I've got my HSG booked now for next Thursday. I'm really not looking forward to it......

@paintfairy it was because she had to try so many times and said my cervix wasnt paying a fair game, the actual procedure was fine just uncomfortable, take some painkillers before you go to the appointment though.

yeah May seems like ages away but just have to wait and see

@nadeelia I'm so sorry about your experience, that sounds horrible. I was actually watching this YouTube video earlier where this woman experienced the same thing and she also couldn't do her IUI because of it. I hope you get some clarification from your appointment with the consultant.

@Riviera90 I'm so sorry that AF got you hun. My LP is slightly on the shorter side too, it's 11 days. How long is yours?

I've just entered my TWW now I think. I'm not sure I have even ovulated because I didn't get my regular ovulation symptoms, although I did get a positive OPK. So I guess I'll have to wait and see but I'm not hopeful this month unfortunately. Although I want it so so bad after my chemical pregnancy last month

I have been tryung for 10 years. I went to the gp this week who has given me a slip to take the hospital for blood tests but he hasn't mentioned a specific day to go. I've read above about day 2 or 21, can someone explain please

Hi @Lisaamy06,

Day 3 tests should be taken between day 2-5 of your cycle, so that's during your period. They include:

FSH
LH
AMH (if requested)
Serum testosterone
TSH, Thyroid checks
Estradiol

The day 21 test is for:

Serum progesterone only.

Note about the day 21 test: These are not strictly for day 21. They have to be taken in the middle of your luteal phase, that means half way between ovulation and your expected period day. If you have a textbook 28 day cycle, with 14 days luteal phase, then you would take the test on day 21. But most people don't have textbook cycles, so you have to calculate the date based on when you ovulate.

Let's say you normally have a 14 day luteal phase. Your best bet is to track ovulation using OPKs/BBT, then on the day you ovulate, call up the hospital and book a test for 7 days later. If you have a shorter luteal phase you will need to do the test earlier.

The day 3 tests are to check your hormone levels at their baseline which is right at the start of your menstrual cycle. The 'day 21' progesterone test is to check if you have successfully ovulated or not. Hope that helps.

@acaciabluebell my LP is usually 11 days but last month it was only 9! Have you tried anything to extend yours?

Oh thank you so much for the replies. I'm new here and am so glad to have something to educate and prepare myself. Yes it is the first time I've been to gp as I just kept telling myself it would happen naturally. I already have 1 child. He's 13 and I've never been on any contraception since having him. My partner is 40 now and I'm 33 so I thought I'd better do something soon as age can affect it. He hasn't mentioned any days to go just give me a slip and said ring and book blood test. Unless he is going to send me on certain days after the first one. Thanks for the replies and good luck to you all who are trying x

I’ve just had a call from the clinic and they said I could go in on Monday! 😮

They said I would ideally have my partner with me but I know he won’t be able to come.

What do you think they will do? I was hoping for maybe a scan and I think I’ll be ovulating Sunday/ Monday so that might be good timing.
