Ttc after miscarriage with under active thyroid

Hi Ladies
I’m super new around here so was hoping there would be more experienced people to help me out.
I had a missed miscarriage back last March, ended badly and had to be rushed into hospital due to having a hemorhage. Anyway fast forward a few months and my periods still hadn’t returned to normal (used to be regular like clockwork), ended up going to the docs in august and had blood tests done to which they found I had an under active thyroid (never known of this until then), was placed on medication but still no luck with regulating periods. Went back in October and had more bloods and tests was told all my other tests seem normal but my thyroid levels dropped from 4 - 0.7 (not sure what that means) anyway she tweaked the dosage of my medication again and have to go back for more bloods on a few weeks, I’ve done ovulation tests but they never seem to get really dark, the photo I attached is the latest ones I’ve done which was a week ago one day after another, I did more each evening after and as u can see they have just got lighter and lighter Sad all I want is my rainbow baby as it’s nearly a year since we lost Sad has anyone ever had any issues or been in similar situations?

@Tinkers123 I'm a bit rubbish at interpreting results but looks like September was a crazy month for you with your results being so high and then it did the complete opposite in December and went the complete other way. Hopefully this next result is somewhere in the middle for you x

Tinkers123 · 24/01/2021 11:26

Oh god I hope so 🤞🏼😣. Hopefully 2021 brings us all joy and happiness 💖

Hey ladies! Last weeks bloods have come back and my levels are now at 2.2! Doctor has said that’s a great level so to carryon with the dose of thyroxine I’m on now. 2.2 is good right?! X

OP posts:
Danni2020 · 25/01/2021 12:17

@Tinkers123 yea 2.2 is perfect. All that I have read says under 2.5 is ideal level for trying to conceive let's hope we both get some good news soon. I'm out this cycle but feel like I have a bit of hope going into the next cycle 🤞 x

Cons33 · 25/01/2021 14:11

Yes that's a great place to be! Good luck ladies. I'm now at 5 weeks 3 days. Waiting for the 6 week mark to call my gp because part of me is still not accepting it's for real! But so far so good! Although the only symptom I've got is having an extremely short fuse haha x

Tinkers123 · 25/01/2021 15:15

@Danni2020 aww definitely I have everything crossed for us both for our road to be able to finally and hopefully conceive 🤞🏼
@Cons33 oh bless you take it as easy as possible but I really hope everything goes well for you hun 🤗 xz

Hey ladies!
More results have come back! Apparently my b12 is really low too! So have been told to start taking 100mg Methylcobalamin daily! Has any of you had this or take this? She did say that’s playing a part of why things could not be working properly too so with that also being picked up will hopefully get me on the road to recovery. Hope you guys are well?!x

Hi Op, I have an under-active thyroid and been TTC for 10 months since a miscarriage. My levels were checked recently at 2.5 and my GP has increased my dose on my request. Ideal range for TSH is 1-2 when TTC. They are going to refer me to an endocrinologist in April if still not pregnant by then so maybe push for that. Have you been tested for hashimotos? That can cause you to be deficient in lots of vitamin important to TTC. Have a look on healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk there is so much good info on there. You need to advocate for yourself, GPs know not a lot about a lot!

Tinkers123 · 27/01/2021 00:19

Hi @Justbecause88 😊
Sorry to hear about your loss!
I have had tons of bloods done, what is the hashimotos test? I am with a gynaecologist at the moment, she said ideal level is anything 2-2.5 for ttc so I thought my levels at 2.2 was great as that’s what she told me, I was at 4 which results had come back as normal on first lot of bloods but she said she still wanted to get them down to between 2-2.5.
I’m on the Premom app and am testing once a day for ovulation results at the moment (still have a week before having to test twice a day) my gynaecologist has said she isn’t concerned with anything else just my b12 and thyroid, I have had tons of bloods done but they are all under different odd names 😂. What is an endocrinologist?x

@Tinkers123 it seems like a couple of times in your cycle that your surge is trying to rise. I would say day 21 is your darkest and might have been when you had your peak. I know with mine it is pretty much stark white until I get my peak about day 12 or 13 then goes back white again. For you I see almost lines a few times in your cycle. I haven't ever tracked the whole cycle though usually just before and a little after peak to see it has gone white again. Everyone is different though but maybe your body is trying to surge a couple of times in your cycle as I read it can do that. Your body tries to ovulate then doesn't so tries again later in the cycle? How long are your cycles as is day 21 normal for you to ovulate? X

Tinkers123 · 03/02/2021 21:42

So my cycles vary each month as my periods have been irregular since the mc last March, so each month it’s difficult to pin point exactly when I’m due to ovulate, that’s why I thought I would try to do the ovulation tests from the day I finish my period to see if I could see a peak, day 21 is today’s, the one I have uploaded with this photo is this evenings one compared to this mornings day 21. One app says I’m due to ovulate today and another says tomorrow, I know they are just rough estimates as they go off regular cycles and mine are irregular so it’s difficult and will never be accurate, I have done the cervix check and the past week it has been high. Is it a bad thing that my body seems to be trying to but not clear to see if it is possibly ovulating?

@Tinkers123 I'm not sure to be honest if it's a bad thing it may just be your body trying to regulate itself if your cycles are not regular it definitely doesn't mean your not ovulating. I would say your peak is on its way if not there already. I would do another one in the morning to compare and see if it gets lighter. Sometimes your surge can be so short that it's hard to catch the darkest line. I know mine doesn't always get to the darkest but definitely dark enough to be a peak coming and then usually back to light again the next morning. By your OPKs I would say your surge has either just happened or is just about to happen on day 21 so get busy DTD especially today and tomorrow x

Tinkers123 · 03/02/2021 22:13

I’m hoping your right 😣🤞🏼. I suppose I will definitely find out next week if I am ovulating or not when I have my progesterone bloods. Thanks for replying hun I hope you are getting on ok 🤗 x

So here is last nights and this mornings tests, 1 app says technically should have ovulated yesterday, other apps say today 🤷🏼‍♀️. I have heard a few people say these tests are rubbish but what do you think?

Danni2020 · 06/02/2021 20:24

@Tinkers123 I would definitely say you had your peak on the evening of the 3rd as on the 4th in the morning it has gone lighter. I would say you could have ovulated on the 4th or 5th. Hopefully your blood tests show that to be accurate. You don't always catch the OPK at the darkest line as it is really hard to know exactly when your peak will come and for some it is so short the surge to pick up on an OPK. I would say if it starts to get darker and it is pretty much there on the 3rd then that should be a good sign x

Tinkers123 · 06/02/2021 20:30

I’m so nervous I would love to fall this month as it’s a yesr next month since I lost ☹️. I’ve been checking my cervix too and it’s still high but seems firm ☹️ How are you getting on xx

OP posts:
Danni2020 · 06/02/2021 22:43

@Tinkers123 fingers crossed for you. I'm doing ok will probably start OPKs tomorrow as some months I use them some I don't but now that my thyroid levels are back to normal feel like maybe I might stand a chance. Should ovulate maybe on Wednesday. If I don't fall this month I feel better knowing I also have my fertility clinic appointment this month too so at least will be able to find out my next steps x

Tinkers123 · 06/02/2021 22:45

Fingers crossed everything is ok for you with the fertility clinic 🤞🏼. Keep positive and remain hopeful atleast you are one step closer than you was last month xx

OPK's have always been really accurate for me, but I drove myself crazy more than once wondering if the test was positive or not. I found that digital tests were much, much easier to read. They're also more expensive but if you can afford it, give it a shot ? When I looked at the test strips they didn't look positive, but the test still gave me a static smiley and it was accurate (I know for sure because I got scans afterwards).

Other than that, the only thing that can confirm whether you ovulated would be a day 21 blood test.

Best of luck !

Danni2020 · 07/02/2021 10:06

Yea I feel the same as @Marty13 I just don't find these stick OPKs very accurate to interpret and have used the more expensive ones in the past with the smiley face and had a static face. I just never seem to catch the darkest line on these sticks but it definitely gets darker . Just can't afford the other ones every cycle x

Tinkers123 · 07/02/2021 12:08

Yeah I have been told by lots of people these tests are rubbish! They have said to either go digital or get the easy@home ones as they are clearer at reading. I have a blood test next week to see if I’m ovulating or not because my periods are so irregular so we are going off last months cycle which was 35 days meaning I should have ovulated around day 21/22 I’m trying to cover every day after that and before incase my period starts earlier or later if that makes sense. I do feel like this month I’ve got a bit of an obsession because I can’t read the results properly 😬🤦🏼‍♀️ X

Hi ladies just thought I’d pop on here to update, had my progesterone bloods done and has come back at the range of 1 😔 meaning I’m not ovulating 😔 just when I thought things we’re picking up with thyroid levels being at the right range and taking vitamins for low b12 I’m hit with this 😔. Having UAT makes it ten times harder to try and shift the weight as it is and the gynaecologist wants me to try and get my bmi from 33-30 before they consider giving me any progesterone medication 😔 feel like giving up

OP posts:
Danni2020 · 15/02/2021 19:24

@tinkers I'm so sorry you didn't get good news with your bloods. Please don't give up hope it will happen for you it's just going to take a little longer. Annoying that the doctors won't just give you some hormone tablets. Could you get these privately if the NHS won't provide not sure how much that would cost though. Losing weight just now is hard especially in a lockdown and finding the motivation is hard too

. I could really do with losing some weight myself but find it very difficult. Sending you some virtual love anyway xx

Tinkers123 · 15/02/2021 20:29

Thank you 😣 🤗. I don’t know what I would have to buy or where to buy it from or where to even start with regards to buying more progesterone medication, I’ve looked online and seen things like conceive plus etc and that clomid is the first lot of medication they will offer but not until the weight is down, which is so frustrating because it’s so hard to lose anything with an UAT 😔 xx
