Hi,

Just wondering if any one has been given norethisterone for delaying period before IVF for longer than 10 days? I know it can be taken up to 17..

Yes I had it for 19 days before I started stimming so that the clinic could schedule the timings

Pipsqueak224 · 30/11/2020 07:40

Thanks for your reply and good to know. I'm really worried that I'll have to wait even longer cause I feel my period will be sooner than expected, but of I can just take norethisterone for a few extra days then I can delay it

@Pipsqueak224 how did it go with the norethisterone? and with the rest of your journey since? I was told to start day 21 but feel my period might be early too..my cycle is pretty irregular..the clinic is closed for holidays so dont know if i should start it a couple of days early? Tomorrow is my day 19...I have been waiting for a year since my first scan because of covid and dont want to have any further delays! Hope all is going well for you!

Pipsqueak224 · 30/12/2020 08:05

Hey, I had to delay starting due to Christmas holidays. I was so upset as I was kinda told different things and was under the impression that I would ok to start norethisterone mid Dec. I am now starting it on the 2nd Jan. I know not a huge difference but because I'm off work it would have worked out well. Just can't wait to bloody start! Where are you based? x

I understand fully!! Its gutting isnt it! I have been cancelled twice, just as I thought all was well. Its such a rollercoaster! Looks like we should be going through this at the same time now! I have done a wee bit of reading and decided to start the norethisterone today.. Just really hoping all goes to plan this time!! Im in scotland..my clinic is in aberdeen..where are you? Keeping my fingers crossed for you..2021 will be our year!! :) xx

jam43 · 30/12/2020 12:33

@Pipsqueak224..I always forget Im meant to tag you when writing to you..posted earlier and hope you got it?xx

Pipsqueak224 · 30/12/2020 13:17

Oh that sucks. At least you're starting now and fingers crossed everything goes ahead. It's so frustrating isn't it. We've been trying for nearly 3 years. 2021 has to be our year! I'm based it Cheshire (England) xx

Hi @pipsqueak224 & @jam43, I hope you don’t mind me joining. I’m on day 2 of Norethisterone, I have a 10 day prescription. Been waiting a full year to get started but so many delays because of COVID. We may be all going through it all around the same time. I’m based in South Wales. Are either of you worried that it may be delayed further due to the COVID numbers increasing again? How are you both feeling about it all?
I glad something is happening but there is that constant dread that it may be delayed because of COVID.
Much love x

Pipsqueak224 · 02/01/2021 09:36

@Jaqattack not at all, the more the better. It's nice having people go through the same thing at the same time. I'm really hoping COVID won't delay it again. Clinics seem to have procedures in place now. I just started NET this morning. Have you had any side effects from it? x

OP posts:
jam43 · 02/01/2021 16:03

Hey @jaqattack! Good to hear from you and to have another person to go through this with! I am on day 4 of NET now and have my baseline scan on 13th. Trying to keep myself positive and very much hoping for no more delays! Its so tough though as all the covid news is so hard to avoid! I decided to try to stay away from the TV and social media and keep busy with other things..otherwise I just worry all the time! Hoping for all of us that this is the time! How are you feeling with the NET? I have had no major side effects..pretty bloated and burpy..lol, but other than that all good! Its the injections I am not looking forward to..Im hoping people are right when they say it doesnt really hurt!! Hmm

jam43 · 02/01/2021 16:05

@Pipsqueak224 so good so far..NET not having any major side effects..a bit bloated and gasy but all good otherwise! Hoping all goes well for you too!

Jaqattack · 14/01/2021 21:43

Hey girls, how you all doing? I’ve moved over to Meriofert yesterday and just had my second injection. Are you both having any side effects? I’m not having anything apart from a little pain on the injection. Maybe the side effects are happening when I’m sleeping?

Pipsqueak224 · 14/01/2021 22:35

Hey, I just finished norethisterone on Monday and just started my breakthrough bleed today. Will wait for baseline scan to start injections. I'm on Gonal to start x

OP posts:
jam43 · 14/01/2021 23:02

Hey Ladies! I had my baseline scan on yesterday..all was well and i had my first Gonal injection tonight. Was feeling pretty rotten at end of norethisterone..My stomach was so bloated, but back to normal now and hoping no major side effects from injections..was pretty nervous doing first shot but was actually no problem and just a little nip :) Good luck to you both..keep me posted as to how youre getting on..thinking of you both! Xx

Pipsqueak224 · 20/01/2021 21:31

How you girls going? I'm on my 5th day of Gonal f and starting fyremadel tomorrow. Anyone else on fyremadel starting day 6? I've just had bad headaches, but nothing else so far x

OP posts:
Jaqattack · 20/01/2021 22:14

I’m on neither but I have had constant headaches on meriofert, I’m trying to chug loads of water to help reduce the need for painkillers .Cetrotide is horrible - like having stingy nettles rubbed on your belly 🤮, packs of ice to reduce the soreness helps but it just makes me feel cold. I got my second scan in Friday to determine if I’m getting my trigger on the weekend. Potential egg collection on Monday. I feel like there’s lights at the end of the injection tunnel. How you both finding the constant needles?

jam43 · 20/01/2021 22:42

So seems Im on a combination of both of your meds! The gonal injections are all good, but yeah the cetrotide is a bit sorer! Im getting used to it, but really not a big fan of injections, let alone injecting myself! Thankfully not having any other side effects. The clinic cancelled my 7 day scan as they want to reduce footfall to the clinic..so I have one on friday instead which is my day 9...hoping all goes well and I find out when my next scans and egg collection date. @Pipsqueak224 I hope your fyremadel goes well and your headaches clear soon. @Jaqattack good luck on Friday and keep us posted how things go!

willithappen · 21/01/2021 10:44

Hey @jam43
Sneaking in here to keep an eye on your journey if that's okay? I'm at Aberdeen also and due to start northisterone on 1st Feb and my protocol sounds exactly like you are going through just not :)

How are you feeling with it all and how's the experience at Aberdeen?

jam43 · 21/01/2021 14:31

Hey @willithappen ! Nice to hear from you and yes, more than welcome to share journeys with each other! I think you are the first person I have spoken with who is also at Aberdeen! Shame times are as they are, as we probably would have met at the clinic open evenings! I have found all the ladies at the clinic really nice and feel at ease with them now that things are rolling! Its been a long wait and I think a lot of the online consultations felt a little impersonal, but its just the unfortunate part of treatment during covid I guess! Once I started getting my consultations in person it felt so much different! What about yourself? Is this your first round too?(its my first) Have you had a long wait? It starts to feel real once all the dates get rolled out huh! Good luck with the norethisterone, it wasnt too kind on my stomach but I returned to normal pretty quickly and could certainly have been worse! Wish you the best of luck with it all.xx

willithappen · 21/01/2021 17:50

@jam43 aw you should pop over to the thread in this forum for Scotland as there are another couple girls in there currently at Aberdeen also and are on the same schedule as myself! Can't believe we managed to find each other haha. @pixelflower and @LabradorMum are both just away to start and a couple days ahead of me

I went to GP back in Oct 2019, first fertility appointment Jan 2020 and then had HyCoSY and a wait for it to be three months since partner stopped socially smoking, March appointment cancelled then an appointment in April where we were put on the waiting list. This is my first time doing it yeah. A mix of super nervous and super excited also haha.

If you don't mind me asking, do you know your reasoning for having IVF? We're down as unexplained, although my partner had 1% morphology but they same the count overrules that as it's well above average. He had only had one SA though.

Pipsqueak224 · 28/01/2021 12:03

Hey girls, how did everyone go? Have you had egg collection? I had 36 eggs collected with 29 fertilised. I'm very grateful for that number but obviously at risk of OHSS and have to wait for a frozen transfer sadly x

OP posts:
willithappen · 28/01/2021 16:20

Oh wow @Pipsqueak224 that's a lot! Well done! I have heard chances can be higher with frozen as it gives your body time to recover :)

Jaqattack · 01/02/2021 22:12

Wow! 36 with 29 fertilised, that’s amazing. You must be so happy with that? If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? Are they doing embryo transfer on day 3 or 5?
I had 11 after egg collection - 2 immature with 3 making it to day 5, all a grade A. I had my embryo transfer on Saturday. The hospital said they would be pleased with 8 eggs at collection so I was chuffed with 11. 72% didn’t make it. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Just a waiting game now I guess. I’ve had sore boobs all day.......must not over analyse every little thing. opens google and rechecks pregnancy symptoms for the 5th time this hour 😂

willithappen · 01/02/2021 22:27

Oohhh congrats @Jaqattack ! When are you testing?

Starting norethisterone tomorrow! 😬
