Waiting between cycles

Hi all, we just had a failed FET earlier this week and are now in the dreaded limbo stage until we can start our next cycle. Anyone else in a similar position and wanted to chat? X

Hi @lemongrass1 sorry to hear about your failed FET. Sending you a big hug.

I had a failed fresh transfer in June, our fourth attempt. We've switched to a new clinic now and I'm re-running some bloods plus a few extras for immune issues. I'm hoping, all being well to start a new cycle in September. What are your plans? Do you have any more frozen?

Lemongrass1 · 23/07/2020 07:15

@HJF84 So sorry to hear your latest fresh cycle didn’t work out ☹️ A change of clinic for a new perspective sounds like a good idea though. I hope you are getting along well with your new place.

We are fortunate to still have 7 frosties left although they aren’t great quality. I think I have the stamina for two further transfer attempts before we draw a line under things. Waiting for our follow up on Monday to see when we can try again and if we make any changes. X

Hi @Lemongrass1 sorry to hear that. Sending a big hug your way. We're in the same boat. Found out our FET failed on Tuesday. This was the second attempt. I'm feeling pretty low.

Ijustlikefood · 23/07/2020 20:55

June FET failed, hoping to get meds in time for next week to start on my next cycle have an appointment tomorrow

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 23/07/2020 21:02

Hi guys 👋

Good idea to start this thread @Lemongrass1
I’ll join you all as my first FET failed this week. Sorry to hear you are all also in this boat. Initially I was ok but definitely felt low some days this week. But we can do this ladies. Sending you so much love 💗

We think we’ll try once more but wondered how soon we can have a transfer? Do any of you know?

Lemongrass1 · 23/07/2020 21:40

@MsRun sending hugs to you too, sorry you’re feeling down. That was the same OTD as is, this all sucks doesn’t it!

@Ijustlikefood good luck for your appointment tomorrow, hope you get to start on your next cycle.

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip Last time I was told to wait for at least one natural cycle before starting again. I don’t really get this though given the cycles are fully medicated. I’ve also found that lots of people have done back to back FETs so I’ll see what they say on Mon and let you know. Otherwise I’ll have to wait to start down reg to at earliest mid Sept to start down reg and would rather just get going otherwise I’ll start over thinking things and ruminating.

BTW does anyone know when bleed should start after stopping progesterone? I stopped Tues am and nothing yet.

OP posts:
UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 23/07/2020 21:45

@Lemongrass1 My clinic said to expect a heavyish bleed 1-2 weeks after stopping the meds. I also had my last progesterone on Tues. it’s nice to have a rest from the meds at the mo.
Plus I am having a few cocktails at the weekend with friends as I need to chill out!! Xx

Ijustlikefood · 23/07/2020 21:46

I stopped on the Thursday and came on my period the Wednesday cycle is around 28 days, I had a really light period that only lasted 2 days but had very bad cramps !

Lemongrass1 · 23/07/2020 21:50

Thanks all, hopefully it will come after the weekend as we are going away for a few days to take our mind off things. @UncleBrynsfishingtrip I have also been enjoying a few drinks, and a break off healthy eating, and blue cheese, rare steak and sushi 🤣🤣

@Lemongrass1 Enjoy your break away! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Hi,

I had a failed FET in June and am still waiting to hear from my clinic regarding a follow up appointment. I’ve chased them and they said ‘sorry you haven’t heard, will get the doctor to contact you’ - that was at the beginning of the week and still haven’t heard anything so starting to get concerned. I know they are probably a lot busier now but last time my cycle failed, I had one month of a natural cycle and then started again the following month. Definitely won’t be happening this time as I haven’t even got an appointment date yet. I’d feel a lot better if they gave me a date, even if it was in a couple of months time... it’s the being in limbo part which is hard!

duckhouse · 24/07/2020 09:35

I just had a failed FET too... biochemical or early m/c after BFP in 7th week... the clinic is still not clear as to what it is exactly and i am waiting on doctors review. I am hoping to do a fresh cycle next as i have had 3 failures with FET so far...

wondering if you ladies are doing some detox to cleanse your bodies of all the hormones !! Please share

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 24/07/2020 12:35

Hi ladies 👋

Hope you are all ok? I had been feeling low and pretty rubbish so I called the counsellor at my fertility clinic. She was amazing!! 🌟 I thought I’d share as I’m sure most clinics have support available.
She gave me some advice and good things to think about. Look after yourself ladies and remember it’s good to talk xxxx

YogaPants4 · 24/07/2020 12:54

Hello girls...Just finished failed fresh cycle#2, nothing in the freezer for a plan b so deciding on a new clinic for 3rd and final cycle. Didnt feel like my clinic gave a shit about me in the last cycle, their one size fitsall approach didnt suit me at all and i feel they have cut a lot of corners to save money. I didnt even get a baseline scan before starting downreg or stims. Moan / rant over 🙈👋🏼

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 24/07/2020 13:35

@YogaPants4
Sorry that things haven’t happened for you yet. A new clinic might be a good idea. I’m with CARE and they have been great.

Has anyone had a double transfer? Xx

MsRun · 24/07/2020 14:38

@Lemongrass1 they told me 5-7 days after stopping the progesterone but mine came 2 days later! Does that mean there is something wrong with me?

Have fun on your weekend away!

YogaPants4 · 24/07/2020 14:44

Thanks @UncleBrynsfishingtrip :) hope we all have some better luck next time🤞🏽 Im in ireland so my options are more limited unless i want to travel....and i think that would feel more stressful for me.
Ive had 2 double transfers....1st one we got pregnant but lost before the 8 week scan (ended up a pregnancy of unknown location) the 2nd one there was negative test.
But im old im 40!

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 24/07/2020 15:39

They have said I can choose a single or double next time however I’m unsure of what to do.

  • This will be our last FET
  • Will it be more risky to have a double?
  • Do we have to pay more for double?

Sorry for the questions but if anyone has any advice then I’d be sooo grateful 💗

The single the transfer we had didn’t work and as this is out last attempt I think what is there to loose! Xx

Lemongrass1 · 25/07/2020 11:46

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip I believe that a double embryo transfer will increase your chances of a BFP versus single but not by a huge percentage and definitely not double. The main thing is that there is an increased possibility of multiples. I think our clinic gave us stats of 1% twins with SET and 14% with DET. There are more risks associated with a twin pregnancy. That said, plenty of people successfully give birth to twins and either way you are still more likely to have a singleton pregnancy than a twin pregnancy even if you transfer two. There is no extra charge at our clinic for transferring two. X

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 25/07/2020 11:50

@Lemongrass1
Thanks for the info.
It’ll be our last transfer however we’ve looked at pros and cons and we decided to transfer one.

How is everyone doing today? I’m having a chilled out afternoon with friends. Ahhhhh. Not seen them for ages.

duckhouse · 25/07/2020 19:51

I am also contemplating if i should go for a single or double transfer for my next cycle. This will be my 4th ivf for first child - 2 BFN and 1 early miscarriage. Double might increase the chance but i am also worried about the cons both physically and financially..but i am also too desperate now for child..

Anyways how are you all coping up with the loss ..i am finding it really tough this time.

UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 25/07/2020 20:41

@duckhouse
Wow - 4th IVF. You are amazing. Do you have people looking after you? This will be our second time and our last. It’s hard in every way isn’t it.
TMI- I’ve been bleeding lots today but the clinic said to expect this after my BFN a few days ago. Xx

Lemongrass1 · 27/07/2020 09:50

@duckhouse this one versus two embryos is also our dilemma. Am aware of pros and cons but really don’t know what to do!

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip Funny that, also started bleeding at same time as you. But I think we both stopped our meds at same time. Typical AF, always turns up when you don’t want it and absent when you need it to come!

How’s everyone else doing? We have our consultation later today so hopefully we will have a plan moving forwards. X

OP posts:
UncleBrynsfishingtrip · 27/07/2020 09:58

I’ve got a consultation in a few weeks but are going to begin out next FET before the meeting.
I’ve had to call them as I’m unsure whether I need to start my meds again this week.
They said the first bleed is a withdrawal bleed. Then my period will arrive.

I just wish I could think about something other than IVF as it’s all consuming at the mo 😫 xx

duckhouse · 27/07/2020 16:45

@Lemongrass1 about twins i also have a question.. like in worse case if one embryo fails to survive after implantation.. does it also pull the second one ? I read something like this in one of mumnet post and it really worries me specially after an early m/c with 1 embryo.

I plan to ask this question to my consultant in next appointment
