Waiting between cycles

Hi all, we just had a failed FET earlier this week and are now in the dreaded limbo stage until we can start our next cycle. Anyone else in a similar position and wanted to chat? X

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip did your clinic say when you could start the meds again? Totally agree it’s rubbish thinking about this process all the time!

@duckhouse am afraid I didn’t ask about this at our consultation. But would be interested to know what your clinic says

AFM we’ve had our consultation and will be going for next FET with same protocol. Consultant is happy for us to go with back to back cycles so am starting downreg again in 2.5 weeks. They’ve recommended we go for double embryo transfer as our remaining frosties are less good quality. They were of the opinion that whilst twins are more likely than with SET, that probability of twins was still v low but chances of success were about 10% higher so will go with their advice. X

@Lemongrass1

It’s great that you’ve had your consultation.
I think everything is always better once you’ve talked it through. I called them earlier but I didn’t get to find out exact dates. It’ll probably be at least 2 weeks as I need to wait for period to begin. I have some prognova left over anyway so I’m ready if it arrives early.
Interesting what they said about the double. I’d read something about the quality of embryo. I think if one is really different quality to the other then that’s not so good.
But like you say just go with the experts!
Ooooh how exciting! How do you feel? Xx

@UncleBrynsfishingtrip I did ask the clinic about this as I remember seeing in the news about a study which showed chances of success being lower if two embryos of different quality are transferred (particularly as we will be transferring two embryos of differing quality!). He said that this was based on one small study, and that this data had not been reproduced anywhere else. They went back themselves and audited their previous cycles at the clinic and found no evidence for this. So I’m happy with this explanation. I also asked about PGS and he wasn’t keen on this at all as he believes there is a high probability of discarding viable embryos.

Overall v happy that all questions were answered and we have a new start date & plans for another roll of the dice 😁
