Anyone else awaiting fertility referral?

Hi all,

Been ttc (unsuccessfully!) for over a year and just found out there's a problem with DH sperm (low mobility and zero normal forms), so awaiting referral to fertility clinic to seek further help/advice.

Just wondered if there's anyone else in a similar situation about to embark on this journey too?

Also similar success stories welcome :) x

I called my clinic yesterday on 12dpo (negative) and they said to wait and do another test tomorrow on 14dpo And then call them if that’s still negative. They will then discuss meds for another ovulation induction.

I also had my work consultation yesterday, just basically running through the redundancy thing, I should know by next week if it’s me going or the guy I work with- assume it’s me, and anything else is a bonus. I’ll get paid off which isn’t too bad, but the stress of finding another job is too much, so many redundancies everywhere!

Also a call from private hospital regarding MS, Iv got to have lumber puncture in 4 weeks. Yesterday was pretty full on 😂😂

@Chochaw I got my blood result, prolactin came down, so I can proceed with my IVF! Yipee!

So many hurdles to get through, but at least I'm getting closer to treatment.

@Morpho123, I hope work will have the answer you want next week. Sorry to know about the MS, will the lumber puncture interfere with your fertility treatment?

@limeflower2 that’s so good your prolactin has come down and you can proceed! When is CD1 due? So happy you are able to proceed now! 🤞🏽

Well lumbar puncture looks safe in pregnancy so assume it’s fine for fertility treatment too. I did tell the doc we were ttc. I’m nervous about it as I heard it really hurts!
If it’s in 4 weeks it will be around AF anyway, so I should know either way.

Af due tomorrow/ Thursday for me, I take my last pessary tonight, they have been interesting. The leaking isn’t so good, and the irritation they are causing me too 😂 I’ll do another test tomorrow but I know it will be negative! Onto the next cycle! X

@morpho123 don't give up just yet. It sometimes rakes a while for the HSG to build up in system. Hopefully the lumbar puncture is ok. My mum had ones and said it was sore. If AF does srrive are you going to use clomid again or try another drug?

I managed to order clomid so I'll do one more cycle before IUI. X

@Morpho123 I'm starting my nose spray on CD21 which is next week. Then when my AF arrived I will have to go for baseline scan to check if I can start the injections.

Erm I don’t know actually i want to try something else because my lining was so thin early on last cycle.... but then it thickened so they may want me on clomid again... who knows, I’ll wait and see what they say in a few days.

I feel like I’m have AF feelings on the way today, so I’m totally expecting a negative And I’m okay with that, I allowed myself my sad day yesterday where I cried it out, 😭
I’m more looking forward to a new cycle and trying again. I’m sure we didn’t dtd enough this time, as my husband was struggling so we will defo stick to every other day- it just works better mentally for us too.

@morpho123. I used Gonal F for OI with IUI and i found it to be good. I had no side effects whilst taking it(no hot flushes) but did develop OHSS mildly after and cyst which meant a month off treatment. The injections were painless and easy to take. Any sign of AF?x

@chochaw I expect they may want to try me on Gonal f- can I ask the cost? Or was it a normal Prescription cost for you?
If it was, I’m tempted to ask if they can give me a prescription so I can get it cheaper than private, looking into it, Gonal f appears quite expensive!!

No sign on AF, but negative tests, I did the last pessary last night so assume af will come as soon as the progesterone is out of my system?? My felt like my right ovary ached yesterday but Iv had nothing since!

@morpho123 I got it included on NHS and we don't pay for prescriptions here in Scotland so I can't help unfortunately. Would you do 1 more cycle of clomid to try the 3 cycles? If that doesn't work then try the gonal F?

I'm doing ok. I have a 32 day cycle so just waiting on AF to come. Last month I had spotting a week before but I've not had any this time. I need to go into work next week to get classroon ready for returning in August. It is going to be a wierd situation. Parents are not going to be happy when they realise their kids will only be in school 2 days a week.x

@chochaw I’ll see what they say when they call me back, as I had a thin lining at the first scan they were a bit worried so I’ll see what they say xx I can’t believe you don’t pay for prescriptions, that’s so good!

Have you tested? What dpo are you today? I know you had a bad neck but you never know 🤷🏽‍♀️

No prescription charges is brilliant. It has benefitted me no end up here.

I'm 11DPO and not tested. I haven't even had the urge to test which is strange for me. I guess I just got so deflated last month when I thought I was that I have just given up now 🤣.x

@chochaw it’s definitely the best way, next month I’m going to hold off until AF.
When you do an early test and get a negative you get so deflated but then hope comes back in.
I tested today 13/14dpo with a cheap easy@home test and it was negative, I wanted to check it later but my husband threw it out so couldn’t 😂
At the end of the day, if I’m pregnant my period won’t come will it 🤷🏽‍♀️ But I know I’m not, excited to start the next cycle! X

Hi girls, so after much discussion with my husband we aren’t going to do ovulation induction this cycle. Iv got such a stressful time coming up in the next couple of weeks with losing my job, and potentially having to reinterview, we feel like we couldn’t give our all, especially when it’s going to be costing so much more with Gonal f.

So my question is, I have one last round of clomid at home, do I take it with opks at home? I have pessaries too, and now I know how to do them etc I could do them too. So effectively a free go, or do I do a completely natural cycle?

My lining on clomid was thin last month but doubled by day 12.... so I think I could thicken it again, but obviously I couldn’t confirm it?

We just can’t afford to spend the money when we don’t know if I’ll have a job or not, and with it being so stressful at the moment whilst I wait in limbo it seems like money down the drain....

Do I clomid/ or see if I’ll ovulate naturally... answers on a postcard please 😂 xx

@Chochaw Not going well here unfortunately. I suffered a miscarriage at 8 weeks. I'm absolutely devasted. Taking it one day at a time atm. I have made it into school once since finding out I was pregnant so that was hard. We are preparing for return in a few weeks. Fingers crossed for this month for you.

I have taken myself off mumsnet for a few weeks so haven't checked in. How are you all getting on?

@Morpho123 You have so much going on. I can't help with the Clomid but I really hope things turn around for you and you won't be facing redundancy.

@Morpho123 Sorry I never seen your post last night. I say go for Clomid this cycle with OPKs. They say if its going to work with clomid then it will withjn 3 cycles. I haven't received my prescription yet so I don't know if i'll manage to join you this cycle. Did AF come? X

I’m feeling so nauseous today, I stopped the cyclogest, so I assume that’s making me feel sick, no sign of AF yet and defo a BFN. I hope it comes soon!

@Chochaw oh man! When is af due? Do you normally start clomid day 2 or 3?
I start day 2 as I ovulate early like day 13ish.
No sign of AF yet, no cramps or anything. When I googled about cyclogest I think it says it can come anytime between 2-7 days after last pessary!!! That’s potentially a week ffs lol x

AF due Sunday for me. So I could really start taking it Monday/Tuesday if it comes. They have charged me and I have a confirmation email but it is not showing in my order history. I cant get through to them.

That sucks. It is prolonging things and getting your hopes up for longer. X

@chochaw that’s frustrating ! I hope you get them soon, you still have a few days, keep trying to contact and maybe email them? Or twitter? I don’t have a Twitter but I know some people complain on there?

I know I’m not pregnant I’m 14/15dpo and bfn today so I’m not getting hopes up, I just want to start the next cycle xxx

@chochaw that’s early? Mine still isn’t showing any sign of arriving. I think the progesterone has really delayed it which is annoying!! I’ll give it until Monday and do another test if it hasn’t shown. I’m sure it will be here by then!

Frustrating your clomid hasn’t arrived, did you get an answer from them? If I had a spare round I’d have posted to you! But if only got one round left 😭 xx

It's 2 days early. I knew it was coming but I am so emotional. I can't stop crying. I had an argument with my husband earlier because he asked me to cut his hair. I did it and made it a bit short so he shouted at me and I threw my hairdryer at him and it smashed into hundreds of pieces. So bloody childish of me but I needed to do it. Now I feel rubbish and just keep crying. We are supposed to be eating healthy but I just want chinese food, wine and ice cream.x

I've tried contacting instant ecare via email, live chat, phone and social media and no response.

@Chochaw bless you, I always allow myself a day to be sad and eat what I want. I mean I’m gonna go mc Donald’s in a minute because tbh I’m fed up, I eat healthy all the time so I’m allowed it. I’m gonna stop beating myself up, I’m not over weight or unhealthy. When af comes I’m defo having a gin! I want af to just Arrive already I know I’m not pregnant. @morpho123. Chinese is phoned and wine in hand. I am also a healthy weight. I have a little bit of weight I would love to lose after having my daughter but prolapse prevents lots of exercise or I can't walk. I've been so good the last month so I deserve a treat. We had a whole staff zoom call today and still don't know which class I will have. HT also dropped it in that new guidance from HR says we need to notify her as soon as we get positive test. She then blurted out that another staff member was pregnant and she didn't want people to know yet and then said to me and a few others by name 'anything you want to tell me?'. I was raging!

Thanks for your support. Just needed a rant! Poor DH has had the brunt of my moods today! X
