Anyone else awaiting fertility referral?

Hi all,

Been ttc (unsuccessfully!) for over a year and just found out there's a problem with DH sperm (low mobility and zero normal forms), so awaiting referral to fertility clinic to seek further help/advice.

Just wondered if there's anyone else in a similar situation about to embark on this journey too?

Also similar success stories welcome :) x

Hi @Morpho123 no my neck was really playing up from my fall so I could hardly move so I think I am out this month. Also had a phone call from GP. The labs are still closed so we can't have updated sperm analysis and they contacted my consultant at fertility clinic and they said they do not recommend clomid for me as I ovulate on my own anyway so that os not an issue. Even if they wanted to try it they said they would strongly advise against it due to complications of taking it without monitoring. I didn't tell her I had bought it online for 2 months. I'll order another month of it and then that's me done. I think it might be me dine altogether. I can't handle the pressure of TTC anymore. X

iRawra · 01/06/2020 20:22

@Chochaw I'm so sorry you're feeling the pressure so much. It really is so hard to deal with. But we are here with you.

@Morpho123 thanks for the message. I've had a pretty crappy day. Not done anything and needed to cancel my midwife appointment and scan scheduled for Wednesday but couldn't bring myself to it. By HCG has gone from 537 to 404 to 264 to 202 so now they don't want me to go for the next one until Sunday. Quite a relief that I don't need to go every 48 hours but so scared as I could still rupture :( how are you getting on?

Morpho123 · 01/06/2020 20:32

@Chochaw you poor thing, that literally is the worst especially when you took clomid too. I hope your neck gets better asap. That’s annoying they won’t prescribe it- maybe do the next month and see how you get on.
I totally understand how you feel, it’s so much pressure and it takes over your whole life. It runs through my mind throughout the day and I find it hard to not think about it! Maybe have a break if you need it. You have to look after yourself xx

@irawra oh bless you, sorry to hear you have had a bad day. It sounds like it’s sorting itself. I haven’t got anything to say to cheer you up 😔 I really hope you are okay, thinking of you xxx

I’m okay finding the tww the worst, this probably is the hardest part of ttc for me. The waiting and not knowing. I’m sure it won’t be positive this time but I’m willing to give it another go at the private clinic, so I’m trying to stay positive that we may be lucky on if this medicated cycles!

Sending love girls 💕💕

Delectable · 01/06/2020 22:07

@Morpho123 thanks for sharing. I have him on those perhaps more as he's also sing fertilaid, Countboost & Motilityboost. How did you arrive on those? You've one your research; these are really good choices you settled on. They're backed by research and generally agreed to be good to improve SA.

Delectable · 01/06/2020 22:37

Apologies, horrid typos.

Morpho123 · 01/06/2020 22:37

@delectable I am quite the researcher as I didn’t want anything that would impact negatively. I read it starts with the egg and googled a lot of information! It seemed to work for us, and we are really lucky! He couldn’t believe it worked. I am lucky he does take whatever I put in front of him, he never questions or argues lol!

Girls 😂 I literally put my pessaries in and sneezed it out 😂😂😂😂 I didn’t know you could do that ffs. How embarrassing!

Delectable · 01/06/2020 22:51

@Morpho123 I have the book as well. It's quite a good one for TTC. I feel so sorry for my DH. I give him so many supplements!

Narwhal88 · 01/06/2020 23:14

Welcome @Delectable 🙂 I want to give my DH even more supplements but I don't think he'll let me 🤣

@Morpho123 maybe you're just one of the lucky (?) ones with no side effects and no symptoms! You never know! I just ignore any 'symptoms' now anyway as they clearly mean nothing since I've never actually been pregnant even when I've thought I've had them! Are you going to test or just wait it out? Got my fingers crossed for you!

@Chochaw hope your neck is better now? sorry you're feeling like this today 🙁 it's a lot of pressure and stress. It does sound like you need a break. My hospital hasn't opened up SA testing yet either which we are waiting on. It's all a waiting game currently which is so frustrating. Think of not needing clomid as a positive thing, it's great you ovulate and they don't think you need it. Why do you think you need it? So there are more eggs = more chances? Just curious as I have heard they prescribe it for that sometimes.

@iRawra it's good it seems to be passing on its own and hopefully won't rupture. Sending love your way, must be very difficult and scary 💕

Morpho123 · 01/06/2020 23:14

@delectable keep going and I hope there are some changes soon!! Does he have low count/motility or morphology??
The supplements my husband took improved all factors, so fingers crossed they work for you xx

Chochaw · 02/06/2020 07:48

@Narwhal88 My neck is still sore. It is not as bad today and I slept last night for the first time in 5 days so I am feeling a bit calmer now. I think i was overtired yesterday and feeling sorry for myself after call with GP. I just wanted to try clomid to try ovulate more and hopefully boost my chances but it hasnt worked yet. I'll do one more month of it. It says 80% of people conceive in 1st 3 months with clomid so if it's going to work it will.

@Morpho123 TWW is the worst. Try not to worry about symptoms. I have had all the symptoms and not preganant and then had no symptoms and I was pregant. I always have something in my head reminding me about TTC. It is tiresome now. I want to switch off and not think about it.

@irawra I've been thinking of you.x

Morpho123 · 02/06/2020 08:17

@Narwhal88
Morning hun, sorry I didn’t see your message yesterday! I’m going to wait, I don’t see any point in testing out the trigger... I think if anything it’s going to make me too stressed. I’m almost half way through the wait so no point starting now! I’m probably test from 11dpo. Then if there is a line see if it gets darker. I’m just not feeling confident this month!
I was told I ovulate naturally, but was prescribed clomid for get more eggs, but actually I only got one this month so it doesn’t always boost 😔
@chochaw defo do another month and see how you get on, then you have done 3. Then maybe take some time out.

Ttc is so much more stressful than I ever thought! I honestly thought you have unprotected sex and fall pregnant straight away 😭 xx

Saski87 · 03/06/2020 15:02

Hi guys, hope you’re all doing ok. I had my follow up appointment (ended up being a phone consultation) today and we are being referred for ivf which is what we expected. She said that although there was some endometriosis when I had my laparoscopy 6 months ago she didn’t think it was bad enough to affect my fertility so we have a diagnosis of ‘unexplained’ which I suppose is good in that it could happen but also frustrating to not know if there’s a specific treatment we could try/anything we can work on to increase our chances of success.
@iRawra I’m so sorry to read what you’re going through, I can’t imagine how you’re feeling. If you end up having a laparoscopy and have any questions about what to expect then do let me know as I had one not too long ago

Chochaw · 05/06/2020 10:48

@Saski87 great news you are now on the waiting list. It sucks to get 'unexplained' diagnosis though. I'm in the same boat.

Slight problem ordering clomid for me. I just tried to order as AF due next Sunday and the pharmacy has stopped taking orders as they are short staffed. Maybe this is fate telling me I need to stop? I'll try source it somewhere else. X

Morpho123 · 05/06/2020 11:13

Hi girl, well it’s been a shit couple of days for me. Iv been told I’m up for redundancy and it’s between me and another. If anything the other person is more likely to get it I think, but we are trying to propose a job share. I earned such good money, I’ll struggle to find the same elsewhere. Also this puts all our ivf stuff on hold.... because we had the money for ivf, but now I may need it if I’m jobless! My husband thankfully earns enough to support us both, he still wants to continue with ovulation induction, as do i. However obviously if I get pregnant I’ll go no maternity pay now either.... so that’s always worried me, but my savings can cover that. If we need ivf then we just think it’s not do-able to outlay so much money whilst I’m not working.
I feel like my whole world is upside down. Iv been crying constantly. I’m 9dpo today, spotting hasn’t started yet so I’m hoping the progesterone is doing the trick! No signs or symptoms at all so I’ll wait for AF.

I hope you girls are all okay and more positive than me! Xx

Chochaw · 05/06/2020 11:39

@morpho123 That's awful. You need to prioritise yourself. I'm sure the other person is good and a friend but you need to try to look out for your interests. No spotting is good. I was wondering about you yesterday and if it had happened this month. Hopefully this is your month and work will sort itself out.x

Morpho123 · 05/06/2020 15:50

@Chochaw I know it’s so hard to almost throw others under the bus when we are such a tight knit team. But it is what it is, there isn’t much I can do and I’m almost sure the decision is already made.

I hope this is my month, we always said it would come at the worst time, and if I’m jobless than what better time 😂
Yes very happy with not spotting, assuming I did suffer with low progesterone then!

How are you getting on? Have you found anywhere you can get clomid online??

@Saski87 great news your on the list! Well done! Unexplained is so frustrating isn’t it, technically we are unexplained now we have improved morphology! Xx

Chochaw · 05/06/2020 18:53

@morpho123
No luck with clomid. I'll keep checking everyday till AF arrives.
I received a letter from my consultant today. He has said that they are working to get clinic open ASAP and has said he has secured funding for 4 rounds of IUI on NHS rather than the 2 we expected but no IVF as we have a child now. I called and spoke to his secretary to ask about my request for notes and she said someone else dealt with it because she had been off sick so she would process it. She said to think carefully about shelling out for tests/treatment privately as they would be contacting people in the next few weeks to get treatments started 1st week in July so I think i'll hang off private for a wee bit.x

willithappen · 05/06/2020 19:59

@Morpho123 I'm sorry to hear that! I have everything crossed for you though and really hoping that this month is your month!

Morpho123 · 06/06/2020 17:40

@Chochaw I would defiantly wait a little longer it sounds positive like they are going to be ready in a few weeks!!! If I were you I’d defo try and wait because the fact they are giving you 4 rounds of iui is brilliant!!! I get absolutely nothing where I live, it’s ridiculous! The only thing I was offered on nhs was clomid/trigger - so I’ll give them a call when AF comes to see if they are starting scans again.... at least then I’ll get a free go with them rather than private clinic. Although I love the private clinic. I just have a feeling this hasn’t worked this month. I feel like I can just tell AF will be here in a few days. I haven’t got spotting or anything, but Iv got no symptoms at all, I just don’t feel positive.
@willithappen thank you Hun ❤️ It’s been a shitty year for me really..... a bad accident which I lost a couple of teeth, then diagnosed with MS, infertility and now losing my job.... I mean, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger right??

Btw I had teeth repaired, I’m not sitting here toothless 😂 xx

Chochaw · 08/06/2020 07:07

Good Morning everyone!
How are we all today? Hope you had a good weekend. I'm in 2ww- AF due on Sunday. I got an email back from online pharmacy and they said they are hoping to open backnup this week. If I can order clonid great if not it's hopefully not too long to wait for treatment to begin.

@iRawra hope you are ok?

@Morpho123 how are you hanging in there? Is it Wed AF due? When will you hear about work?

@Cat028 how are you getting on?x
X

Morpho123 · 08/06/2020 09:21

Hey @Chochaw that’s good news the online pharmacy is hopefully opening, otherwise yes fingers crossed you don’t have too long to start treatment.

Me.... I’m fed up. 12dpo BFN. I can’t understand why we can’t fall pregnant, it’s getting me down. And loosing my job is topping me off. I should probably hear at some point this week. Iv stopped worrying about it, there isn’t anything I can do, and I’ll find another job somewhere.

Xxx

iRawra · 08/06/2020 13:00

Thanks for all the well wishes ladies. I'm ok, just finding it hard at the moment to formulate replies but I did read all your messages and I really appreciate them.

@Morpho123 I'm so sorry to hear about your possible redundancy. I really hope it doesn't happen. Also, 12DPO so you're not quite out yet. I'm hoping it's still your month!

@Chochaw my HCG went down from 202 to 30 in one week so they have now discharged me from blood tests. Got to take a test in 3 weeks and if it's positive let them know. I feel different each day. It's very strange to comprehend.

I'm still bleeding like a medium flow for over two weeks now with a heavy day in the middle in which I passed something the size of an egg. Apparently could have been the sac or a clot. Still twingy pains where it's all happened but I'm assuming that's due to the trauma of the whole situation on my tube like swelling or something. They said my next period will probably be heavier. Now my sights are set on my HyCoSy and/or laporoscopy with Leeds Fertility. I'm allowed a 3D ultrasound as soon as my HCG is zero and can start taking my supplements again soon too. Thanks for all your messages. I really do appreciate them xxx

Morpho123 · 08/06/2020 13:17

@irawra so glad to hear you are okay, it’s such a difficult thing to go through, I really feel for you, but so glad it looks like you won’t loose a tube! Keep looking forward, you are doing so well xxx

Limeflower2 · 08/06/2020 14:24

Hi ladies, haven't been here since last week. I've moved clinic and will start IVF this month once I see my last blood result tomorrow if its all okay.

@iRawra I hope you'll recover soon. Glad to know you are okay.
@Morpho123 Sorry to hear about your job situation. I hope it doesn't happen. And I think 12DPO is still too early to test. I was told 14DPO.
@Chochaw Fingers crossed for your clomid and hopefully treatment will resume soon.

xx

Chochaw · 09/06/2020 13:33

@Limeflower2 that's exciting! How did your blood test go? X
