Anyone else awaiting fertility referral?

Hi all,

Been ttc (unsuccessfully!) for over a year and just found out there's a problem with DH sperm (low mobility and zero normal forms), so awaiting referral to fertility clinic to seek further help/advice.

Just wondered if there's anyone else in a similar situation about to embark on this journey too?

Also similar success stories welcome :) x

Hi @Chochaw I’ve heard that day 1 should be the first day where you start bleeding before lunchtime, so first full day of bleeding.
I’ve had spotting for the last few cycles which is a new thing for me (and really annoying because it’s sort of my period but then there’s also a tiiiiny bit of hope it’s not!)

Etonmess20 · 13/05/2020 11:52

@Saski87 @Chochaw it's so hard to know because AF arrived for me about 1/2pm last cycle but it was full flow (I don't get spotting) so I counted that as CD1. I did google but the advice was conflicting x

JeNeBaguetteRien · 13/05/2020 12:16

@Chochaw if you plan to go to the Czech Republic their government entry requirements are updated regularly here
www.vlada.cz/en/media-centrum/aktualne/measures-adopted-by-the-czech-government-against-coronavirus-180545/

Regarding day 1 it is usually when full flow begins. I have spotting due to low progesterone but the clinic said not to count that as day 1.

Limeflower2 · 13/05/2020 12:31

@Chochaw I wouldn't count as it was just spotting.

Chochaw · 13/05/2020 17:36

No more spotting for me today so technically AF is late by a day. This TTC is stressful. If nothing by tomorrow I will test again.🙁

Etonmess20 · 13/05/2020 18:25

@Chochaw are you sometimes a little late or always really regular?

Morpho123 · 13/05/2020 18:29

@Chochaw 🤞🏽🤞🏽
My AF is just arriving so probably be CD1 for me tomorrow! Results in the morning, I couldn’t sleep last night- I’m so impatient! X

Chochaw · 13/05/2020 18:44

@morpho123 good luck. I am hoping bloods show a little tiny baby growing. 🤞At very least I hope your husbands morphology have improved.

@Etonmess20 I am normally pretty steady. In February I was 4 days late but that's the only time. Maybe clomid has affected because I don't normally get spotting and that's twice this cycle now.x

Rugby7777 · 13/05/2020 19:34

I’ve been ttc for over 2 years. I’m 31 and was told by the fertility specialist that my amh is 5.3 which is for a women in her 40s. They said for someone my age my levels should be around 16.1. So the best chance for us is ivf. They were going to write to my gp to get them to refer for ivf on nhs but said it can be at least 6 months before I could be seen and then maybe a further 12 months before I start treatment.

Etonmess20 · 13/05/2020 21:37

@Chochaw very strange, suppose all you can do is test tomorrow & see what happens. I had heard that clomid could affect AF so maybe it's that?

@Morpho123 let us know how your results go tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Rugby7777 welcome, sorry to hear you're facing a possibly lengthy wait. Do you know how many NHS cycles you'd be entitled to?

Rugby7777 · 13/05/2020 21:43

@Etonmess20 I think 2 cycles but not 100% sure

Chochaw · 14/05/2020 07:18

I'm going to count today as CD1 as AF arrived full flow through the night. So I'll start taking clomid tomorrow. Best of luck today @Morpho123 x

Saski87 · 14/05/2020 09:27

Sorry to hear it’s definitely arrived @Chochaw good luck for this cycle!
How long have you been taking clomid? We technically have unexplained infertility (despite a couple of small abnormalities) so I don’t think they’d prescribe it for me, although I know of others in a similar position who have been given it on the off chance it works. Really not sure what to expect at my follow up, feels like it’ll be ivf but I’d probably be willing to try something else first

Etonmess20 · 14/05/2020 09:43

Morning @Saski87 hope you're well!
DP & I are currently "unexplained" & I have been given 4 months of clomid. I am nearly at the end of the first cycle & have a HyCoSy next month so having a month off. I have read other posts where some doctors haven't given clomid for unexplained cases so I think it depends what the consultant says

Saski87 · 14/05/2020 10:19

Thanks @Etonmess20 that’s useful to know! I’ll do some research on it before my appointment in case they do offer it to me. It’s great they’ve given clomid to you before your HyCoSy. My clinic wouldn’t consider treatment or schedule an appointment with the consultant until all the investigations had been done which slowed thing down quite a bit.

Etonmess20 · 14/05/2020 10:26

@Saski87 in fairness we have had all other tests done & I was given clomid just as we went into lockdown so that perhaps slowed the HyCoSy scan down.
If you've had all tests done with no issues I don't see why they wouldn't at least let you try clomid

Saski87 · 14/05/2020 10:45

Thanks @Etonmess20 I’ll ask about it! Maybe I can try it while on ivf waiting list

Morpho123 · 14/05/2020 11:38

Hi girls, so consultation went really well...
I’m a bit shocked! (I’m not pregnant btw!)
Morphology has increased from 0% to 4%. Total sperm has increased from 160 million to 185 million, and motility has increased from 56% to 75%!!!

All my tests were perfect too, so he said about ovulation induction - which is what I’m due on nhs but obviously don’t know when that will start! So I think we are going to pay privately for that- it’s £500 but it gives us a chance whilst we are at home on furlough.

He said my husbands sperm was so good he would be perfect for donor, we declined lol!

So that’s good news, but why am I not pregnant when it’s so good 😂 maybe next month! AF due today but hasn’t yet arrived, just did a test in case after that news, BFN. But feeling positive now there is a chance naturally xx

Morpho123 · 14/05/2020 11:39

The only thing he said was my progesterone was low so he would want me to take cyclogest after ovulation going forward xx

willithappen · 14/05/2020 11:58

@Morpho123
That is fantastic news about your partners SA results now! What an amazing jump up to get! Which vitamins was he on again? My partner is just on welllman conception but if there's anything else we can do to get results like yours that would be amazing!

I'm so pleased for you. Keep doing what your doing, i have every faith it's going to happen naturally for you that way!

Etonmess20 · 14/05/2020 12:34

Oh wow @Morpho123 that is amazing! So so pleased for you, they're such positive results!
What would the ovulation induction consist of? Would it be something like clomid?

Morpho123 · 14/05/2020 12:41

@Etonmess20 ovulation induction is clomid, scans, trigger and progesterone pessaries xxx

@willithappen

Okay so changes- he hasn’t worn boxers since being furloughed in March- this May have made a difference, but it’s probably more the vitamins I think.... this is what he takes daily

1000mg vitamin c
300mg coq10
400 I.u vitamin e
Tesco vitamin c & zinc (100mg vit c and 15mg zinc) - I know it’s more vitamin c but I couldn’t find zinc on its own lol
1000mg L-carnitine
Wellman conception

He takes all of those before bed. He has done for around 4-5 months and all parameters have improved xx

Etonmess20 · 14/05/2020 12:50

@Morpho123 least there's a plan in place for you now, will you be able to start this cycle do you think?

Morpho123 · 14/05/2020 12:55

@Etonmess20 I hope so but I have my doubts, I think they will be prioritising people who are awaiting transfers. We’re waiting for the nurse to call. I think AF will be here tomorrow so maybe then hopefully I can start, especially as I won’t have to collect clomid because I have it here.
I was worried about my light periods but he said my lining was 10.6mm! So that proves light periods don’t mean thin lining! Xx
