Anyone doing ivf at 40+

We're considering doing a couple more rounds of ivf at 40.5 years old. We have 2 children already but still feel someone is missing.

Is anyone else starting or already having treatment at 40+ and would like to share the journey?

@Anxiousbuthopeful ohh that could be promising it could be implantation! How many dpt are you?

12 days... might be a bit late? More likely to be the very start of my period I fear... how are you?!

@Anxiousbuthopeful you can get it at any time and it's brown so it means old blood. Keeping everything crossed for you. Are you tempted to do a test?

I'm good thanks....5+5 now and finished with all the pregnancy tests. I'm due to go to the gp later this week so will ask about booking in with midwife and also think about booking an early scan.

Ooooh so pleased for you! Going for a beta blood test tomorrow so will find out for sure....

Thank you! Brought the blood test forward by one day - did it this morning and awaiting results this afternoon. I am still crampy and spotting but hasn’t turned into a flow yet...

I’m hoping in two weeks 🤞 just ovulated so now wait to see if my clinic lets me cycle this time . Last time my progesterone was too high , they think it was because I was taking dhea x I’ll check in later and hopefully good news xx

So the beta level is 22, which looks positive but very low to me. I am 13 days post pick up today, so the equivalent of 13 DPO. What do you think?

Firstly , congrats for being pregnant although I know it’s with a lot of caution 👍🏻❤️🤞 mine was 17 at about 11dpo last pregnancy, I read the starting number isn’t as important, it’s that it doubles every 48 hours . Mine raced up from 17 after that . Retest only two days and it should give you better clarity . Hang in there xx

Ah sorry tried to post something which is getting scrambled but it basically shows that you can be super low hcg at 13dpo and it not matter X

@Anxiousbuthopeful I’ve never had a beta preg test so can offer no advice on that front but for now you are pregnant, congratulations!! Absolutely everything crossed for you. As impossible as it feels try to stay positive, it definitely won’t hurt and it hopefully will help. Keep us posted xx

@Anxiousbuthopeful ahhh ok. I think like @Sunshinelove8 says the doubling is more important. Do you have another beta booked in?

Yes. Thursday morning, 48 hours after the first one. I am not super hopeful also because in my last IVF cycle I had Beta hcg of 60 14DPO (so tomorrow, as it were) and I miscarries anyway... not sure whether the two things are related actually.

@Anxiousbuthopeful ok well see what happens in a couple of days. You might have implanted later this time around so it's not as high.

@Anxiousbuthopeful I agree with the others, it really is about how much your HGC levels increase and at leat doubling every 48 hours is the most important indicator.....so as difficult as is, try & hold on for 24 hours and that will tell you more 🤞🤞🤞
