Weeks away from ivf... late period

Hi everyone really need to speak to people who may have been through this.. right so we’ve sorted everything for ivf.... waiting for appointment to start. But.... I’m 9days late on my period today. I did a test Sunday morning but was negative. Had sex Sunday night and had a tiny bit of blood when wiped 🙈 then nothing... last night again same thing happened, I’m going to test again in the morning but I’ve no idea what to think 🙈 has anyone else had this?

Aren't you suppose to use protection??

Stacey2007 · 14/08/2019 19:43

I’ve not been told to do so ..

Summerunderway · 14/08/2019 19:51

Once you start you will be told! Be honest obviously and they prob do a blood test. Apparently it's not unusual to get a bfp in the run up to ivf!
Fingers crossed for you op!

Stacey2007 · 14/08/2019 19:54

Thanoyou!!! It’s strange that they haven’t mentioned it to us 🙉 I hope we don’t have to go through with it now 🤞🏼 Hopefully get that bfp tomorrow

Don't forget to update!

I found out I was pregnant a few years ago the day I was due to start ivf injections so it can happen!

Bringonspring · 14/08/2019 20:01

Fingers crossed for you!

Stacey2007 · 14/08/2019 20:02

Really wow I bet that was just the best news. I will update 😁 thanks everyone

Just to say that I did ivf last year and wasn't told to use contraception in the run up. Our little (ivf assisted) boy is now 11 weeks old. Good luck and hope you get your bfp, whatever it takes!

Go and get a first response right now.

Only because in impatient and this I need to know that you are! Flowers

Stacey2007 · 14/08/2019 20:04

Thankyou wednesdays2cats. Since you’ve been though it can I just ask a couple of questions if you don’t mind... was it your first time? And was it stressful though the process ?

sweetheartyparty · 14/08/2019 20:37

Going on the pill will depend if you are on a short or long protocol. A short one works with your normal cycle so you dont need to use contraception.
I had an odd period before my 2nd cycle, probably due to stress. It was successful though and I hope it is for you too

Wednesdays2cats · 14/08/2019 21:10

@Stacey2007 yes it was my first time and successful. I was very very worried about starting ivf, and as we had it on the NHS we had had to wait 3 years to be eligible. As a result, the waiting for ivf was a lot more stressful than the ivf itself, as that was basically 36 unsuccessful cycles so to speak. The actual process of ivf, for me, was minimal and relatively easy. The only bit that was unexpected was feeling a bit grotty after embryo transfer (I called in sick for a couple of days). I do appreciate though that every experience is unique. That said, I would certainly do it again. Wishing you the best of luck Smile

Negative test this morning 😔😔😔

Stacey2007 · 15/08/2019 16:12

I’m going to go and buy a different test tonight, don’t know if it will make any difference but worth a try. Somethings got to be happening 😩 does anyone recommend a certain test?

OP posts:
WhyDoesItAlways · 15/08/2019 16:47

I saw your thread last night but forgot to post. Sorry the test was negative, that must have been more than disappointing

After I had IVF a few years ago I was given a test my the clinic to test after embryo transfer which I did and it was negative so I tried a cheap Tesco digital one and it was positive (and correct). I even took the little test strip out of the test to make doubly sure and it had two very definite dark lines so I would recommend one of those.

Stacey2007 · 15/08/2019 17:10

Wow really that fills me with positive thoughts thankyou ❤️ I will be going to get one tonight, would one still show if I did it tonight ? I’m so impatient I may do one tonight and one in the morning.

Just to say that I've had 3 fresh cycles of IVF and each one my period had been late. It's the only time I've been praying for it to arrive so I can start! First one was 37 days long, second 36 and last one 56 days. I normally have 28-30 day cycles. I've spoken to the clinic and they've just put it down to being stressed about the IVF. I'm sorry you're going through this, I understand how painful it is to get that hope and wonder if you're going to be the lucky one that catches without needing IVF and I hope you get your answers soon xxx

Stacey2007 · 16/08/2019 16:14

Thankyou. It could be the same but tbh I’m not really stressing about ivf I’m pretty excited about it just because I want it so bad. But suppose I will find out soon. I will have to try get into doctors for some blood tests, thanks again for your stories x

Stacey2007 · 17/08/2019 21:38

Just a quick question for everyone again 🙈 could I be having implantation bleeding? I have obviously never had it so I haven’t got a clue 🙈 still no period, I haven’t done a test today but again last night blood after sex only a little on tissue 🙉🙈

OP posts:
ApplesOrangesPears · 17/08/2019 21:47

Hi OP. You’re 12 days late now, I think? If you were pregnant, your body would almost certainly be producing enough HCG to produce a positive pregnancy test. So, as upsetting as it must be, the likelihood is that you’re not pregnant. I’m sorry. Lots of things can delay periods, including stress. I hope you get your BFP soon.

Stacey2007 · 17/08/2019 21:52

Yeah tbh I’ve been telling myself that. I’m no more stressed than what I normally am so I just don’t understand it, I think I’m more frustrated because I can’t start the ivf till I have my period so it’s juat delaying it 🙈 thankyou though
