Hi all, new to mumsnet but not to IVF or supporting forums!
I have a 7yr old son through ICSI, after 3 cycles. DP has a 3yr old daughter through ICSI and now we've decided we want one of our own....!

So short protocol is the order of the day, due to polycystic ovaries (not the syndrome) and AF is due next week so imminent.

Would love to chat to others in similar positions right now if there's anyone about?

Thanks Alicia. In all honesty I feel awful. Hurts to walk, even sitting is uncomfortable. I feel really ill today, partly down to the bad news as well I think. Im not sure on the gap. Im not even sure how it works out as I dont have a cycle, so i will bleed after the ivf and then no idea?! Another provera induced bleed a month later maybe and then go from that? I dunno. Will hopefully hear more next week. I'm trying hard to be positive. I just want to get today at work over with and next week I'm off. Going to take it easy and do some nice things I think. Not sure what yet, mind you x

Oh @Namechangerextraordinaire1 you poor love. Have you got the whole week off next week? Hope you manage to get a chance to relax this weekend. Drink loads of water and take it easy. Thinking of you

Thank you! Yes the whole week off thank goodness. This weekend I have a night off tonight as dd is with her dad, tomorrow however I have 4 kids round here in the afternoon, 3 of which are sleeping over. Send help!!! I'm massively regretting this, but it's my daughter's birthday treat and she's bursting with excitement. Hoping the kids basically keep themselves entertained!
Been advised no menopur tonight too, my ovaries are extremely grateful lol.

Evening both,
@Namechangerextraordinaire1 60 follicles is an unbelievable amount, no wonder you're sore :( I really hope things go as smoothly as possible next week for you.
@AliciaWhiskers how are you feeling now?
I've got to go back in for another sodding blood test tomorrow, drag the boy along again, my poor arms! We've just got back from the beach which was amazing in this weather, much needed to get away from it all. Hope you both have a lovely weekend Smile

@Maggie9000 thank you. I hope so too! Hope your check up today goes well and there is good news from it! When you have egg collection, what type of sedation do they use? I'm getting nervous now

@AliciaWhiskers how are things with you? Do you have any more scans coming up?

My oestradiol levels have dropped so I've had to have a boost of stims now and then trigger later on. EC is 8.30 Monday. I'm worried my egg quality has completely diminished now as they weren't great before but if my levels have dropped they're probably even worse now :(

@Namechangerextraordinaire1 I'm afraid when I last cycled they did EC under GA not sedation so I don't know! They just told me that they sedate and then numb the uterus, the anaesthetist stays the duration so they can up the sedation if needed

@Namechangerextraordinaire1 how are you coping with a house full of 10 year olds?! Hope it's not too bad and you are feeling a little better today.

@Maggie9000 not long now until EC. Sorry to hear your oestradiol levels were lower - I haven't had that test done so don't really know what it means, but fingers crossed those eggs are good ones. It only takes one (which I keep reminding myself too!)

Not much happening here. Got SUPER sore boobs today, which I was initially worried meant that I had ovulated, as that's what my body usually does pretty soon after ovulation, but a google seems to indicate it can be a side effect of increased oestrogen, so who knows! Still got some twinges in my left ovary so fingers crossed I've not ovulated too early!

Have got my next scan on Monday morning, and likely to have EC on Wednesday, but it depends how the scan goes. Have you both got EC on Monday?

@Maggie9000 I'm not really sure about how the levels affect the quality? It sound sinteresting, can you explain please? Not to worry about the sedation then, I guess I will find out on Monday lol. My egg collection is an hour and a bit after yours!
@AliciaWhiskers if it makes you feel any better, I also have had seriously sore boobs. I also thought that I may have ovulated or something but I guess not. They hurt less today. In fact, I feel loads better in general today, less sore in general. I'm hoping that is because I had no menopur at all last night and doesn't suggest something went wrong 😬 being the first cycle and having nothing to compare it to has me questioning everything!!hope Monday's scan is ok!
The 10 year olds are pretty much wild 😂 but are now in bed. I wouldn't imagine they will actually be asleep anytime soon, but they are at least upstairs and quietish at last lol

Morning both!
@Namechangerextraordinaire1 how are you feeling after your trigger?
I'm mowing the lawn and keeping busy today, I've been really relaxed about this cycle up until the news yesterday but now I'm feeling pretty negative :(

Good Morning!! Good plan about keeping active. I can see why you would be a bit down after yesterday but you're definitely not out yet.

I feel rotten today to be honest. Not sure if it's the trigger, the cabergoline I've started taking or the fact that dd and her friends kept me busy yesterday and then didn't sleep til 1. Whereas I was ready for bed by 11 lol. It's probably a combination of them. Either way, I'm dropping dd to her dad after sunday lunch and then going home for a nap! We are off to watch toy story 4 in 4d this evening, I'm really looking forward to it (providing I feelless horrendous by then, that is!)

How did trigger go for you? What did you trigger with?

Hello @Maggie9000 and @Namechangerextraordinaire1. How are you both feeling ahead of EC tomorrow? What time are you both going in?

@Namechangerextraordinaire hope you have managed to get some sleep this afternoon and are feeling a bit better. Let me know how Toy Story 4 is - I'd quite like to see that one!

I've got my scan tomorrow at 0810, hoping then to be told we are going for EC on Wednesday. I've got ovitrelle as my trigger - did either of you use that?

Report
Maggie9000 · 30/06/2019 18:40

I used Ovitrelle :) was easy although I did think I had done it wrong!!
Had a really lovely day with family today, BBQ and football in the garden. Feeling very relaxed ahead of tomorrow. We have to get to the clinic for 8.30 and EC will be at 10.15 - although I'm convinced all my follies and eggs have gone...

@AliciaWhiskers best of luck tomorrow, hopefully you will get the go ahead for Wednesday!! I'm quite nervous for tomorrow, not sure what to expect at all and I'm just an anxious person anyway. Be glad to get it over with. I'm in at 8.50 for collection at 9.50. I triggered with buserelin, it was the worst injection yet so I really feel for anyone who has to use it daily!
Toy story 4 was fab, and watching in 4d was really different. Quite expensive but I saved 20 quid through work so wasn't too bad! New cinema has just opened up near us this weekend so it was all shiny and new, really nice!

@Maggie9000 good luck for tomorrow too, sounds like you've had a lovely relaxing day in preparation! Really hope eggs and follies are all still in place ready to go.

Best of luck to you both tomorrow!!

Quick question - I’ve got my scan in the morning, but do I still inject the fyremadel in the morning before I go? Assuming I’ve got EC on Wednesday and the trigger will be tomorrow night, I’m just not sure if I still use the fyremadel in the morning? I’m assuming I won’t be injecting the menopur in the evening but forgot to ask about the morning injection.

Maggie9000 · 01/07/2019 05:39

Yes definitely inject fyrmedel, I injected it Saturday morning and triggered Saturday night - unless you've been told otherwise by the clinic

@Maggie9000 thanks for that. Fyremadel injected, hopefully for the last time! Hate those blunt needles! Good luck today! Hope they get some lovely, juicy, excellent quality follicles for you (but not too many!)

@Namechangerextraordinaire1 Good luck today to you too! Hope you feel much better after they have got all those follicles out, and again that there are some lovely quality eggs in all those follies!

Thanks Alicia. Hope today goes well, what time is your scan? Im just outside the clinic now waiting to go in. Im nervous, but not so bad now we re actually here. I am however STARVING lol. I'll let you know how many eggs they find later x

@Namechangerextraordinaire1 glad you are feeling a bit less nervous, hope all goes well (and you get something nice to eat after!). Scan was at 8.15 - one follicle has grown 7mm in the the last 3 days and is now too big! Now worried that the others will get too big too and they won’t be able to use any of them. Blimey, the things we worry about!

Trigger tonight, EC on Wednesday. Going to be wishing away the next 48 hours!

30 eggs here. Of which 14 are mature (possibly 19, they're keeping an eye on 5) - however due to the quantity of eggs we're having to have a freeze all and do an FET after my next period. I was originally a bit gutted about that but actually, my body needs a rest!!
@Namechangerextraordinaire1 how did yours go?
@AliciaWhiskers stay positive, they wouldn't let you trigger if they thought you'd end up with a failed cycle.

@Maggie9000 that sounds really positive, well done for producing some great eggs! Good to give your body a break and be rested and ready for a FET. Good to know it’ll be on your next cycle and you don’t have to wait too long.

@Namechangerextraordinaire1 hope all going well for you too

Aliciagood luck for Wed,maggie is right that they would just abandon it if they thought it wouldn't work.
Maggie that's a lot of eggs!! How are you feeling. Sorry about the freeze all but you're right, giving the body a rest is a good idea.
I got 47 eggs. Wont find out whats mature and/or fertilised until tomorrow. I feel like I have a stomach full of trapped wind and also threw up on the way home 😞 feel better now though and the nurse said it's really common. Installed on the sofa in my pjs for the day now
