Hi all, new to mumsnet but not to IVF or supporting forums!
I have a 7yr old son through ICSI, after 3 cycles. DP has a 3yr old daughter through ICSI and now we've decided we want one of our own....!

So short protocol is the order of the day, due to polycystic ovaries (not the syndrome) and AF is due next week so imminent.

Would love to chat to others in similar positions right now if there's anyone about?

It's not so bad, although I do have some side effects. Bit of nausea, bit light headed and also starting to feel a bit of the rage. Poor df and dd. Oh and also my boobs are feeling a bit swollen. But in terms of side effects id say they're only a 3/10 for annoyance at the moment. I cant wait to get started properly, really want transfer to hurry up. But also already feeling a bit nervous for the outcome.

What will your next steps be do you think?

@Namechangerextraordinaire1 how's it going on the buserelin? Have they given you the metformin because of your PCOS? I had forgotten all about metformin - I took it 10 years ago when I had fertility treatment with my first (I took clomid) but hadn't even thought about it during IVF. Maybe I need to ask my clinic. They also didn't advise any vitamins/supplements etc except for folic acid. Why do they all advise different things?!

Period started yesterday, so need to decide what we are doing next....

Well I have started down regging with buserelin and taking metformin. I also just ordered another batch of pregnacare, as well as some inofolic. Feel like I've taken more drugs and supplements in the last 6 months than I could shake a stick at lol

It's hard, I feel like they must have a reason but it just seems silly. I just assumed I would have something to bring a period on then start estrogen but I was wrong! God October does seem so far away, I think we would have transfer in mid September and that seems forever away. I know it soon comea round but I'm just so fed up with waiting.

I hope this is the one for you. I hear you on the medication in that case, no potential spanners in the works from your body doing something it shouldn't. So you might start on friday then? What would your protocol be like?

@Namechangerextraordinaire1 good to hear from you :) That's great that you are getting going with the next cycle. Bummer about the longer down reg but I guess there must be a reason for it. They have suggested the long protocol for me too - when I had the short one last time - and they said if I started with my next period (which should start on Friday) then ET would be the start of October!! That feels SO FAR AWAY! DP isn't keen to do another fresh cycle, so this might be it for us. In which case I think I'd rather do the medicated cycle, as somehow it feels a bit safer than trusting my body to behave itself!

@AliciaWhiskers hope youre doing ok? Thanks for thinking of me. We are indeed doing a fet, I actually get my drugs tomorrow! Really excited to get started again. Bit gutted I have to down reg for 3 weeks this time, when I didnt need to for my fresh. Seems a bit crazy, especially as I don't have periods. We have to do medicated because I don't have a natural cycle, but I would definitely consider that route if I could. Are you leaning one way or another at the moment? Any ideas when you might be able to get started?

@Namechangerextraordinaire1 and @Maggie9000 - how are you getting on? Are you doing your FET cycles? I had my follow up appointment this morning and discussed the FET for our 1 frostie - discussing a natural vs medicated cycle. What are you both doing? Hope you are both well.

Sorry to hear it was a BFN :( it really is a numbers game isnt it. I guess second time round would feel different, as you say you've got lucky once. Still sucks though doesn't it. I find it so hard to get my head around the fact another baby isn't a given, even so many years after knowing this is how it will be!

@Namechangerextraordinaire1
BFN - they made me stay on medication (I feel pointlessly) as I hadn’t bled and retest this morning (also bfn).
I’m alright though. We won this lottery once so it feels very different for me second time around

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that Sad

We don't have much experience in ivf, but we are sort of at the point where we are so used to bad news we can't really imagine ever getting good news.

I can only imagine how you must be feeling too. Take care of yourself. Do you have a plan going forwards or are you just taking a break for now?

Thanks for asking @Namechangerextraordinaire1 but it was a no. I'm not even that sad this time which I think is just the way of things, you stop getting your hopes up and just expect it not to work.

Hope everyone else is hanging in there x

Hi, how is everyone doing?
Tomorrow is OTD. I have had all the symptoms, been through all of the emotions and am now just ready for it to be over. I've managed to hold off from testing as I've felt really positive this time round and wanted to stay in my happy bubble of denial for as long as possible. I have been busy planning all the things I'm going to do if I'm not pregnant. It's my birthday in a week so thinking I might have a day out at a theme park. Also planning our summer holiday to south Spain. Been looking at water parks and vine yards we can visit; tomorrow I find out if I can start booking stuff. It's going to be a long day.

Hope everyone else is ploughing on through, it is just one day at a time xx

I’m ok. Had a very busy day and my mind is all over the place but I’m coping well.
I have a lot of drug side effects and they are unchanged!
My successful pregnancy, the embryo didn’t expand very well after defrosting and I had absolutely no symptoms at all so was convinced it hadn’t worked. I then finally got some pain at 6weeks and then started with mild nausea and not liking certain smells and food... just goes to show, you can never really predict.
