Very low AMH 0.588 and 38, would love some advice!

Hi,
I've recently found out that I have very low AMH it's 0.588 and I have 8 follicles which I understand isn't necessarily great but it also isn't as bad...so I'm keeping that in mind! Because of the results, we are looking to go down the IVF route and are about to do lots of blood tests.
It would be amazing to heard from anyone in or had a similar situation. And would also be great to hear from anyone who has had IVF and how they decided on which clinic to go to? I've heard they have different success rates, do you ask the clinic directly at the appointments or is it listed somewhere.
From getting blood test results back, how long is it normally before you start treatment?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm quite anxious and at the moment I'm not ready to speak to friends and family.

Hi, can't give you advice on UK clinics I'm afraid as I had my IVF abroad. My AMH is low also, was 2.5 this time last year so probably around 1 now.
What I can tell you is if you have not already you should read the book 'It starts with the Egg'. Is full of information and advice for those with low ovarian reserve and considering IVF.

I went to AKESO in Athens, Greece, but I know there are clinics in Spain that have been recommended on here, if @Blondeshavemorefun is still active I am sure she had successful treatment at a place in Barcelona(?) Hopefully she will see this and be able to give the name.

I had IVF at just shy of 42 and had 8 follicles, 8 eggs, 7 fertilised, 3 got to day 5 and I ended up having my lovely DS later that year. 8 is a good number :)

Hi. Yes I went to ivi in Madrid

My 3rd fresh cycle own eggs. That failed but had think 6 to freeze. Unlike U.K. 1&2 cycles

4th fet failed. 5th fet worked and dd was 2 last week

There is one in Alicante as well

Possibly one in Barcelona

MY AMh amd fsh good for my age. Was 42 then and think as they gave me a stronger dose of drugs plus technology better plus I do - that’s why had more fertilise

You need to check with each clinic what their minimum is for AMH levels - many have a cut off below which they won't treat as success rates are lower.

In the UK Create specialise in treating women with low AMH and worth a look - I am with them currently but not due to low AMH I just preferred them over other clinics I had been to

Never thought I would be a mum after 10yrs ttc and 4 previous failed ivf

IVf def tests the strongest relationship

I had similar AMH at 37. Unsuccessful IVF after just 2 eggs collected and only 1 fertilised. Got pregnant naturally the next month and now have a very lovely DS as a result

Not sure if the IVF kicked my body into outputting my one last decent egg. I had read and been following advice from the egg book mentioned, no idea if that helped at all.

However the one thing I think did help us my TSH reading was 5.1 before it all started, and got down to a lovely ~1.2 the month I got pregnant. So if you haven't already had thyroid testing please do so! GPs in the UK don't seem to know much about this, no idea how different it might be in Spain. And once you get pregnant you need close thyroid monitoring so ensure you get this too

@Blondeshavemorefun Definitely worth it. I can only imagine what the emotions you have had to go through. I'm only really been thinking about it for the past few days and already exhausted, so daunting when there's no guaranteed outcome.

I've nearly read most of the book already. Would you mind telling me if you took the CoQ10 and the DHEA?
That's so interesting with your TSH as I have an underactive thyroid and have got my TSH down to 2.69, it's been a lot higher in the past. I'll see if I can up the dosage to get it lower.

I did take CoQ10, I forgot about that! I bought it from amazon, the bioavailable one like the book recommends. No DHEA, I forget why.

My consultant at Guys fertility centre said TSH of 1-5 is fine for normal life but for fertility you want to be under 2.5, so if possible if try to get some tablets. I'm not a doctor though...

I took dhea and my egg quality /quantity improved in the 4mths from cycle 1 to cycle 2

And also speak to my doctor as I'm already taking 150 of thyroxine but maybe it needs to increase again.

@Blondeshavemorefun that's great to hear. I've spoken to my consultant and they've said I can take 50gm by only for 3 months. Can you remember how long and the dose that you took? So great to hear it improved the quality and quantity!

Sure I took 75g - 50 and 25

Was told it worked better if continual streak into body so take a dose a.m. and pm rather then. All in one go

They advise 6/8w before ivf so I wasn’t told this before starting

Hence why took between 1&2

@Blondeshavemorefun Can you remember which brand of DHEA you took? There's one brand called Fertinantal which is quite a lot more than the others. But not sure if it's any better/different.

research say that the ones with fertinatal in it are better, if not then have one thats micronized

OP can you keep trying naturally too?

Studies have shown that low amh alone is no barrier to natural conception. My amh was 2.8 at 34- I’ve been pregnant 3 times and had 2 live births since then. One of those babies was from ivf and one natural conception.

Egg quality is much more important than quantity.
