What's yours, how old are you and did your Ivf cycle work?

Hello I am having IVF soon but I am 35 and and was 7 pmol a year ago which is lowish.

When I was 32 mine was 5.6 I had one failed ivf about 6 months later where I didn’t get any day 5 embryos. Then I had another cycle after another 6 months where I got 7 day 5/6 blasts. 2 put back miscarriage. Then another 5/6 months later I had another 2 put back and now have twins.

After the disaster that was cycle 1 I really didn’t think I had any hope. Changed clinics and everything went so differently.

I still hate that I had that Amh test because I constantly now feel like I must be about to start menopause.

My was 8.3 age 31 (and FSH 12).

Had long cycle for MFI and got 20 eggs, 14 mature and all 14 fertilised but only had two poor quality blasts by day 5. One transferred and BFN.

Second cycle was long as well. Reduced dose of mess but got 22 eggs, 20 mature, 13 fertilised (this time sperm surgically retrieved this time to help with blast quality). 2 transferred on day 3, two others made it to freezable quality. Currently 20/40 with one baby.

Good luck - I got loads of eggs for my AMH - consultant said it's a rough guide but offers no certainties and age is a better marker.

Mine was 2.8 age 34 so rubbish.

However, despite this, I’ve been pregnant 3 times. Twice naturally (including once with twins) and one pregnancy through ivf.

So as a result, I’m not sure what I make of the amh test, other then that I know it has nothing to do with egg quality.

I also have a friend who got tested 4 Years apart and her amh went up in that time- which technically impossible. Make what you will off that!

As per @Chattycat78 when I asked my consultant how I g or so many eggs despite my low ovarian reserve he said "maybe the AMH was incorrect at the lab" so take it all with a pinch of salt

Mine was 25 when tested this year aged 34, no PCOS and AFC 16.

Got 12 eggs from short protocol of which all were mature enough for ICSI. 9 fertilised, 3 arrested after 5 days and 3 developed too slowly to be good enough quality to freeze when looked at again after 6 days. So we ended up with 3 blastocysts, 1 was transferred last week and the remaining 2 are in the freezer.

I don't yet know if this cycle has worked, but from all of the responses you've gained it really doesn't appear to be clear cut that a 'good' AMH level will mean you have any more good quality eggs and therefore embryos than anybody else

I had mine tested at 42, and it was 1.6 - so really low, even lower than I expected for my age.
However, you need to remember that AMH only says something about egg quantity, but not quality. The first you can't do much about, but you can for the latter. I took lots of supplements that are supposed to help. And while I don't know if they worked, but I had DD just before I turned 42.

Sorry, just read the thread title again - should say that DD was not IVF!

To add balance to the thread (sorry for the pessimism):
AMH 4.8 aged 36 and 5.3 aged 37. 5 cycles ICSI starting aged 36. All failed. Never made it to day 5, only ever managed 1 or 2 embryos at day 3 and none implanted.

Mine was 13 aged 43. 14 eggs collected and all fertilised. 8 made it to blast of which 6 were frozen. Did a fresh transfer with the other 2. Have got pregnant following each transfer but have all ended in MC. Having the last embryo transferred next month.

Amh level of 37. I am 27 at the moment. Hoping to start first cycle in october

Mine was 5.9 at age 37 with only 5 follicles however our first round of IVF worked so like everyone says, it's quality not quantity! We got 5 eggs, 3 fertilised normally and all 3 embryos made it to day 5. We even have a frozen embryo at the clinic which I thought would be impossible!

Just to add as well, like others have mentioned, I tried to prepare in the months leading up to the IVF by eating loads of fruit and veg, cutting down on sugar, I had acupuncture, took vitamin D supplements and stopped drinking. Absolutely no idea if any of that made a difference to the quality of the eggs but it made me feel like I was giving it my best shot!

My AMH is 57.5. I am 34.

In 2014, my AMH was in excess of 67 and i got 38 eggs, one of which resulting in my 3 year old

2.1 at age 40, 12 mature eggs 11 made it to day 5. Six good enough to freeze. 26 weeks pregnant with one from fresh transfer now.

I was 36.

AMH of 0.57. Retrieved 1 viable egg. Fertilised. Miscarried.

DD is donor egg.

Think mine was 4 about 5/6 years ago. I googled that it was low. It was a random test when I had some gynae issues years ago and the result was never discussed with me. I looked into it a bit when we started ttc a year ago and have been worried sick about what it really means 😕

I had mine rechecked recently and was told it was normal for my age range!
Did you guys know it's a hormonal test and hence it can change depending on stress and stuff? Would love to know what it really means. I thought it was a test to check your egg reserve, but surely that can't go up and down.... anyone have any insight on this?

Hello, I read that it can fluctuate a lot.Mine was 7pmol a year ago and I am scared of testing again now.I am not sure if stress affects but I don't think it can increase from a year to another.

NHS tested mine 6 months ago - they were meant to be doing 21 day test at the same time but there was an error and AMH was done twice instead - the result from the Friday was 5.7, 3 days later on the Monday it was 3.3 and I had it tested again privately in advance of first IVF cycle and it was 2.5 so I'm really not convinced about the accuracy of this test!

Mine was 2.2 at 28, tried own eggs twice then lost NHS funding as my FSH went to 19, then moved to donor eggs and had a son on the 3rd donor cycle, then had a natural conception when he was 9 months

AMH levels dont fluctuate a vast amount. Being stressed/poor diet doesnt have much impact as your AMH indicates your egg reserve... which is what you are born with meaning its not something that can change much
