I know it varies area to area and depending how many drugs you take etc. But can anyone offer what they paid per cycle? Just so I can get an idea of how much we're going to need as we cannot get NHS funding.

£5000 Hewitt centre in Liverpool.
Includes everything like embryo glue and embryoscope, they would have been add ons anywhere else.

stressedtiredbuthappy · 03/09/2018 13:41

Also though I spent extra on acupuncture and supplements that may improve egg quality so probably another grand there.
Work first time. Good luck

£4000 Uk (failed)
£12,000 (overseas, donor eggs, hotels, flights etc. Successful.)

For those who have used Access Fertility, how was the medical review? I’m a healthy weight, healthy diet etc as is my husband and my blood tests are good but I have endometriosis and his tests are not great. I assume these issues are what they take into account when deciding if you are eligible for one of their programmes? I have all but convinced myself that I need IVF and think that Access Feryility is the way forward to provide some assurance around costs but now freaking out that we will not be eligable. Just looking for some assurance I guess. Thanks in advance and all the best to those of you on this journey.

Just moderate male factor and endo shouldn't go against you too much, it's more history of failed cycles and AMH/AFC that does. If you apply for the unlimited or 100% refund packages they do sometimes offer people the 70% or 50% refund package if they don't meet the criteria.

justkeeprunning5 · 03/09/2018 18:20

Thank you Lauren83 for taking the time to reply to me, that’s a bit more reassuring. I cant recall having been given any AMH/AFH results but have had day 3 and 21 tests that always come back as being very good hormone profile and recall having a good FSH result. Are AMH/AFH generally done as separate tests that I have to request or done as part of the day 3/21 tests routine my done by the NHS?

juneybean · 03/09/2018 18:42

Amh usually done if fsh is high I think. So if your fsh is fine your amh should be fine

Not sure how far down the line you are but Antral follicle count will be done at consultation scan or baseline scan, that will determine what dose of meds to put you on and give you an idea of potential for egg production, an AMH is not always required and some clinics wouldn't usually do it plus an FSH (kind of) does a similar job but if you are applying for access with a refund element it's on the medical report, I doubt your GP will do it it's quite a specialist test

Si1ver · 03/09/2018 21:14

Not necessarily, my FSH was fine but my AMH was on the floor. I didn't know to have my AMH tested until I started the IVF process though. The test results took my infertility from unexplained to explained.

Go abroad, two healthy babies from Serum clinic, Athens.

I was the surrogate.

Fantastic clinic and very competitively priced!

justkeeprunning5 · 03/09/2018 21:41

Thank you all for your advice, I clearly have a lot to look into! Have ordered a book which hopefully will have all of the info i need in one place so I don’t drop into a black hole when looking at Google results

juneybean · 03/09/2018 22:58

@si1ver how did you react to stimulation for ivf?

OP posts:
Si1ver · 04/09/2018 08:48

@juneybean I found IVF hard. I've been very clear that I'm not going through a full round again, although I'll consider FET with our two left over embryos. I was on a high level of stims which may have impacted this.

They managed to get six eggs from me, five were mature. Through ICSI they fertilised all five, all five made it to day five (which is really unusual). The best embryo was transferred and there were two others considered good enough to freeze. The remaining two embryos would have been good enough to transfer of they'd been all we had, but wouldn't have survived a freeze and defrost.

So medically I reacted well to the stims, the outcome we got was probably the very best that could have been hoped for. Personally I didn't react well, I bloated and hurt and got incredibly grumpy. It was worth it though.

juneybean · 04/09/2018 09:12

Thanks @si1ver, my clinic told me IVF wouldn't increase my chances due to my low AMH so wasn't really sure what my next steps were.... might look at the mild IVF at Access.

Si1ver · 04/09/2018 09:33

@juneybean I was recommended DHEA for lie AMH. No idea if it helped or not but I took it for two cycles before the IVF.

Si1ver · 04/09/2018 09:36

Also, what's your AMH level? Mine was 1.2 and my clinic said that the only surprising thing in my medical history was that I'd managed to conceive naturally. I think treatment is meant to be harder with low ovarian reserve and it's worth finding a clinic that are used to dealing with it.

juneybean · 04/09/2018 11:03

I'll have to find my letter but think it was 4-5 off the top of my head. But the nhs clinic basically said fuck off we can't help you.

Si1ver · 04/09/2018 11:31

I'm so sorry you went through that Juney, the NHS wouldn't help me either.

I do heartily recommend my clinic though.

juneybean · 04/09/2018 11:55

I looked on reprofits website yesterday and I could be wrong but it doesn't seem like they treat same sex couples? :/

OP posts:
Si1ver · 04/09/2018 11:58

I don't think that's the case, but you could email them and ask. They certainly deal with donor sperm.

Sorry not to be more helpful on that point.

juneybean · 04/09/2018 12:03

Ahh that's hopeful then I will have another look! X
