IVF July/August 2018

Hey,

So like the title says really is anyone about to start an IVF cycle in July or August?

This is my first cycle and I’m excited/petrified!!! I would love to have some cycle buddies to chat to and for support. It’s all self funded as due to the postcode lottery we get no NHS cycles.

Just a little background. I’m 34, have been TTC for 2 and a bit years now, initial diagnosis PCOS and I had 7 cycles of Clomid which resulted in me falling pregnant in December but sadly I had a MMC at 11 weeks. I have since been diagnosed with endometriosis following an unexpectedly low AMH result. My right ovary is has a significant cyst.

I have an endometrial scratch on Monday and will begin down reg on Monday night. I’m a nurse so have no fear of needles but not sure how I’ll manage with injecting myself.

Really hope to have some company on this journey xxx

Yes, my scan is on Friday. Not for viability, but for location. If all is ok and there is a little HB that would be a bonus, but not expecting it. I would hope to see that a week later for my 7 week viability scan.

My pain has gone so I am hoping it was a corpus luteum. I just wish it chose the side where I don’t have a tube so I didn’t have to worry haha 😜

@A280 is it test day?? 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽fingers crossed! Hoping for the bfp for you!!!

@PostiveThinkingRainbow im doing good thanks. Just staying

I hope your period like pain is normal. Maybe just the extra hormones in your body! Not long till your scan Keep me posted xx

Morning lovelies, how are you doing?

@Sunny1984 taking it one day at a time. No point dwelling on it it wont change the outcome. Focusing on making changes to where i 'might' have gone wrong etc.
Initially we were told two rounds funded. But my GP said the new clinic offer 3 on the nhs so i might be entitled to another two rounds. Personally i will be happy with one successful round lol.
How are you? Any news on your end? Xx

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 15:58

Hi Ladies,
@A280 devastated to hear your news, it's so true there are just no words and it's beyond cruel. Sending you so many hugs. We are all here for you😘

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 15:58

Hi Ladies,
Back from my second scan.
My lining is now 11mm
Follicles have got a little bigger I'm now ranging from 10mm to 15mm, they have put my Menopur down to 75 from 150 because my oestrogen blood test came back as 7500 so they don't want to risk me over stimulating. Not sure how I feel about that🤔
Apparently they are looking for at least a 2 to 3 follicles at 18mm before you do the trigger shot.
Going for another scan on Friday to see if they have grown enough.
Potential egg collection on Monday or Wednesday next week.
So not sure what to book off work😩

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 15:59

This is my follicles chart. What did everyone else's look like on day 9? Xxx

@A280 I have no words that will help, but am absolutely devastated for you 💔 I hope all your questions get answered and addressed for an eventual plan of action x

CupcakeVampire · 05/09/2018 16:20

@A280, so sorry to hear your news. Sending you hugs.

Still waiting on my transfer here. Feels like I've been on this cycle forever. Only two days to go.

Elaydee · 05/09/2018 16:23

@positivethinkingrainbow this is cycle day 10, two days before collection.

Lining was 9.1mm, red numbers was left ovary, blue was right and I took the trigger that night. I got 7 eggs so I guess from row 15 up we’re the ones that made it.

HTH x

@Elaydee @PostiveThinkingRainbow
I never saw mine or got a copy of mine!!
My information was sooo limited from our hospital!! 😏

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 17:45

@elaydee thanks for posting yours for me to see, it's so comforting sharing all this info with people who completely understand where your coming from and the need for knowledge😂
Did they scan you two or three times before trigger?

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 18:04

@Cupcakevampire what is your stage now? X

Elaydee · 05/09/2018 18:25

@positivethinkingrainbow I had my first scan to make sure we could start, and then three scans after that.

@aandre26 same with me, but it took this photo when the nurse left the room and I pulled the screen to me so I could see it! There was no offer to write it down or anything!

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 18:35

@elaydee that me LOL, I did the same took a sneaky photo because I knew I would want to look at it when I got home😂 Its so silly, its our information so why don't they give you a print out to take home after every scan. I think all IVF ladies love to obsess over any information we are given.
Xx

aandre26 · 05/09/2018 18:36

Hearing people say that they had multiple scans, makes me question if this is something that went wrong with me.
I was on short protocol, and with redic. Low amh levels they weren't concerned for over stimulating at all.
So when we had our scan, they told us 2 average size follicles on the right, and 5 okay sized on the left....
When we went in for EC, pre op they told me theres only 4 follicles when i questioned how wed gone from 7 to 4 she told me my chart only said 4....
After egg collection the nurses told me there was 4 eggs, but when the embryologist came to talk to me she said they only got 3 eggs. (Im confused why miscommunication)
Im not sure if this is normal, or something anyone can help me on here about but....surely they should have upped my dose and scan again for more follicles especially as i had a low risk of over stimulating...
Am i wrong in thinking theres something weird/wrong here?
Am i over thinking this ?

Elaydee · 05/09/2018 19:08

@aandre26 you were NHS weren’t you? I would write down a list of all of your questions and when you do your follow up meeting (mine says within six weeks if unsuccessful) and ask how they would plan for your second round. Or if you are going elsewhere have the same questions for them too.

I think with your follicle count, they like them to be over a certain size to assume they will be mature. You could have had visible follicles on your last scan that didn’t quite grow big enough to the required size?

I had 23 follicles in total. Of those only 10 made it to the right size for collection, and from those 10 seen in the scan they only got 7 eggs. 3 follicles had nothing in them. Perhaps that could explain your situation? Write it down as one of your questions for them. Xx

aandre26 · 05/09/2018 19:17

@Elaydee i will definitely be questioning with who ever i see first.
You have had more information than we ever got.
I mean, i never had any info for follow up appointments if unsuccessful.
Never saw our follicle chart (even in the scan) we just were in an out like lambs in a slaughterhouse.
Thanks for answering though. Definitely and eye opener for next time. Xxx

PostiveThinkingRainbow · 05/09/2018 20:08

@aandre26 has a few very good points there which may explain a few things. Definitely phone and ask for copies of all your notes so you can take them to your next clinic xx

Elaydee · 05/09/2018 22:23

@aandre26 I feel for you. Now you know what other places offer, and upfront you can ask whether you can get copies of your charts and what happens in each scenario. Write down any question you can think of and at least you can feel like you are taking charge a little!
