Hey, all! We are starting ICSI hopefully in June for MFI. I'm 32. Been TTC for around 14 months. Starting treatment privately as we wait for NHS investigations/referrals. Keen to get started but nervous - especially about getting the time off work during treatment - and about how much all of this is going to cost. Trying to prime my body for fertility treatment. Generally eat pretty well and exercise regularly (cardio, strength train, Pilates, walk a lot on my commute)- but could improve my diet. Consultant advised me to increase my protein intake so I'm working on it! Luckily the weather is looking up so a bit easier to stick to healthy lifestyle :) Have cut out alcohol and coffee (still on tea - but will limit myself to one cup/ day). Supplements wise, I'm on Omega 3, CoQ10, Pregnacare. Doubt any of this will make any difference in time for first cycle though...

Would be great to hear from others due to have treatment in June/July 2018!

Pleased you got the go ahead @ginandtonic31.
@critter I'm also on a 300 dose of menopur this is my first IVF and although I've had my AMH tested I can't remember the result, I'm just going with the flow and having faith in my clinic.
I start stims tonight and have a scan next Sat so it feels like I'm getting there with it all.

Hi @Beherenow and everyone! My transfer day is tomorrow Shock

It'll be a day 5 transfer, my 3 eggs have thrived and are top grade, apparently, so all's well!

Can't believe how quickly it's come around! I started this IVF cycle on the 21st May and I'm transferring tomorrow!

I've had a quick squizz through the comments, lots of progress from everyone! Good luck, wherever you are with your treatment xxx

Beherenow32 · 08/06/2018 20:49

@IvoryCloud fab news! High hopes for these embryos 😊

I’m eating my high protein ice cream and had a chicken burger (from a takeaway) for tea. 😂 getting my protein any way I can!

CritterTamer · 08/06/2018 21:09

@Ivorycloud - good luck for tomorrow!

@Artful - hope your first injections go well.

I’m pretty sure I can already feel odd things going on with my ovaries after only 3 days - is that normal? I didnt think they would get uncomfortable until close to EC time. I tried letting the menopur warm up a little and injecting it slower today - that was great advice - although the injection still hurt like hell the aftermath has been much less painful than the last couple of days 😊

physicskate · 09/06/2018 09:06

That's fantastic news @IvoryCloud. Hope all goes smoothly today!

@CritterTamer I've had cramps/ bloated feeling on and off since my third injection. Not severe or anything but enough to sorta feel. I'm now five days in...

How many days of cetrotide have people taken? I'm meant to add my first injection of that today.... just wondering how far away ec might be...

Ginandtonic31 · 09/06/2018 09:49

@physicskate Cetrotide is the morning one you mix right? I start that on Wednesday morning with EC around w/c 18th (in reality I reckon mid to end of that week) so probably about a weekish away?

physicskate · 09/06/2018 10:11

I have to mix it. It's the one to stop ovulation. I wasn't told when to take it and had just assumed take it with gonal f?! Crap should I take it now?!??

Beherenow32 · 09/06/2018 10:28

What does the Cetrotide do? Not sure that I’ve heard of it x

Ginandtonic31 · 09/06/2018 10:40

@physicskate that’s the one but maybe everywhere is different? My plan says morning. Perhaps it’s just to stop any soreness on the injection area that they’ve told me to do it morning? Can you ring anybody? Sounds like you’re on the same as me with the Gonal and cetrotide.

CritterTamer · 09/06/2018 10:55

No certitude here either - just buserelin and menopur.

CritterTamer · 09/06/2018 10:56

Cetrotide* stupid ipad!

physicskate · 09/06/2018 11:24

So I did it. Now I've got a red itchy rash and localised hives where I injected. Google says it's pretty normal for first injection...

Ginandtonic31 · 09/06/2018 11:27

@physicskate oh no! I think Gonal F has given me a false sense of security!

It’s weird that everyone is on different stuff but I think cetritide is buserilin... 🤷‍♀️

Ginandtonic31 · 09/06/2018 13:12

Oh ignore my buserelin is the trigger isn’t it.

Beherenow32 · 09/06/2018 16:40

I’m on buserelin for down regg.
Felt so rough today. Sore head, groggy- like a hangover! Hope that means these hormones are doing the job! I am rubbish at eating protein!

Hope all went well today @IvoryCloud

CritterTamer · 09/06/2018 17:00

I’m also on buserelin for down reg - i’ve seen that some protocols use it for trigger shot though - weird how the same thing is used in different ways! I have ovitrelle for trigger shot which I think is HCG. Hope you feel better soon @Beherenow.

@Ivorycloud - hope it went well today xxx

Ginandtonic31 · 09/06/2018 18:47

I don’t even really know what down reg is?! I just have Gonal F, cetrotide and then the trigger shot.

Jab two coming up just before we head out for a meal and mocktails for our wedding anniversary!

CritterTamer · 09/06/2018 19:30

@Ginandtonic31 - congrats on the wedding anniversary - have fun!

The down regulation is the switching off of your pituitary to prevent you making your own hormones that would mess with the ovarian stimulation. In effect it’s putting you into temporary menopause. That was one of the things I found scariest when considering doing this in the first place!

Ginandtonic31 · 09/06/2018 19:49

@crittertamer so the same as cetrotide? How can the buserelin do that and trigger. Crazy! I did have a thought today what if all this completely messes me up and I stop ovulating properly or something! But then again I’ve also heard of people who are struggling fertility wise kick start from ivf. We need to not think about it!!

CritterTamer · 09/06/2018 20:44

@Ginandtonic31 - agreed! I’ve had all those worries too but the nurses at my clinic have been so supportive and assured me there’s really no need to worry so I’m just trying to go with it now and enjoy the renewed sense of hope it’s giving me 😊 I was struggling with depression before I got started with this and really not coping with the rollercoaster of hope every ovulation day turning to despair every time AF arrived. Combined with some really bad times at work Things were starting to go down the self-harming road which was terrifying. Since making the decision to do this I’ve turned a massive corner though - just feeling like we’re taking control has been the biggest thing and it’s definitely worth the cost and discomfort - I’m now happier than I’ve been in 7 months 😊

TheArtfulScreamer · 09/06/2018 20:50

Hope your transfer has gone well @ivory just the 2WW to get through now, fingers crossed for the first BFP of the group to get the ball rolling Grin

Ginandtonic31 · 10/06/2018 00:03

Oh @CritterTamer I really feel for you. I really hope this works for you and gets you on a better journey. Are you seeing anyone to help you talk it through? Sometimes taking control is all it needs and some proactivity.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. 6 years married, where does time go?! Stuffed myself with steak so I’m thinking it’s still protein and okay... only ate a bit of the jacket potato. And some mocktails.

It’s weird as I don’t know if this is in my head but I’m sure about 5 mins after Gonal F I feel my tummy whirling and feel windy!!

Beherenow32 · 10/06/2018 07:42

@Ginandtonic31 happy anniversary! Mines is in a few days too 😊 I’m the same with Gonal f. Been very bloated, and could feel a little cramping last night. A steak is good imo! Lots of protein. I’ve been so bad at eating since on stims 😢 hope I can make it up the next few days.
@CritterTamer sounds like you’re very strong, and have came a long way. This journey really does test us to the max! Xx

Ginandtonic31 · 10/06/2018 09:25

@Beherenow32 don’t let the steak fool you. Yesterday I also ate chocolate orange and on Friday night had a fish finger sandwich! I need to sort my diet out. Ran out of protein powder so going to order more today.

Beherenow32 · 10/06/2018 09:46

@Ginandtonic31 sounds like my diet 😂 part of me thinks it won’t matter because egg collection is prob in a week or two anyway! I have protein powder but haven’t even been drinking it! Starting today I’ll do better. Good luck to you! Xx
