Looking at potential IVF options and to stay with our current fertility clinic, we’re looking in the region of about £6k for IVF including medication. I have come across ABC in London a few times and I’ve also seen women on ttc/infertility fb groups talking about having their IVF done there.

I understand it’s known as “shoebox” IVF which is why it only costs £2500 including meds, scans etc. Which is amazing to be honest when you don’t have thousands and thousands to spare like we don’t. I was just wondering if anyone on here was considering going, is currently or has been through IVF with them and if they’re worth it? I feel like it may be a “too good to be true” situation but if it’s not, it would really be a step in the right direction for us money-wise

I’m with ABC and am due to start taking the medication in about a week. So much could change between now and then but fingers crossed they’ll stay open to see me through to egg collection at least. But who knows really.

If you hadn’t even had a consultation yet I’d wait awhile and see how things develop over the next few weeks.

QS88 · 18/03/2020 15:35

I would have thought that worst case, if there was a problem you'd get the money for that cycle back anyway.

Jessloug · 18/03/2020 15:58

Yes, all good points. Everything is just so up in the air at the moment. It's crazy!

I'm going to wait it out a few weeks and see what's happening I think. Like we haven't waited it out long enough, right?

I'll be sending out positive thoughts for you guys! Keep us updated x

I have my initial (first ever) consultation at abc Harley street next week. I am planning to go to the initial consultation and see what they say. The idea of waiting possibly throughout summer is not something I want to do and like everyone else I am worried whether it is wise to do IVF during this time ....Anybody still going ahead with egg collection or transfer in the next few weeks ?

QS88 · 19/03/2020 12:10

@Blessing786 - I just had transfer. So worried about it not working, or issues with corona, but couldn't stand the idea of waiting as you say Sad

QS88 · 19/03/2020 12:16

So far I had;
8 eggs
6 fertilize

Out of the 6;
1 x Day 3, Grade (1,2), 10 cell which just went in.
1 x Day 3, Grade (2,2), 7 cell still in culture which may or may not be suitable for freezing on Day 5.
4 x Day 3, poor grade, 4-6 cells still in culture but unlikely to do anything.

Blessing786 · 24/03/2020 14:16

Thought I’ll give everyone an update- so today I went in for my initial consultation and they basically seeing anyone for initial and treatment consultations but no one can actually start treatment due to COVID-19 pandemic going on. My initial consultation was over 2 hours long and was fantastic however quite disappointed I can’t actually start treatment ☹️ And no idea when I can ...so much uncertainty ...
How’s everyone else doing @QS88 any good news ?

Dbrook · 24/03/2020 14:58

I called them today as I started my period but was told they couldn’t start treatment.

It’s very disappointing, but we all have to comply with the lockdown and social distancing and the sooner we do the sooner this nightmare will be over (hopefully).

QS88 · 24/03/2020 15:16

Hi both. I really feel for you, can only imagine how frustrating it must be not to be able to start treatment Sad.

I think it's too early to test, but don't have very high hopes tbh. There put back a day 3 embryo (albeit a Grade 1), but none of the others made it to blast, and were all of poor quality, which combined with the MMC I had last year makes me worry about egg quality. They found endometriosis when they harvested the eggs, all over my ovaries, which in my mind would explain why we've had all the problems, seeing as how nothing else seems wrong and endo is known to damage the eggs. It's quite upsetting as went to the GP so many times as a teenager as period used to be so bad I'd literally faint, and they just told me to stop making a fuss and that it was normal, when all the while it was scarring my insides. Anyway, good to at least have an answer to be able to plan. Have been looking into egg donation next, but looks as though the best place for this is Spain, so obviously won't be happening any time soon.

Dbrook · 24/03/2020 16:44

Oh sorry to hear that but you never know until you test, you do still have a chance.

I’ve heard so many stories like yours where Endo goes undiagnosed for years despite going to their GP. Women’s reproductive health is just not taken seriously. My infertility is also unexplained so I wonder if I have Endo too, though I don’t have any typical symptoms. I’m 37 so obviously age isn’t on my side but almost all of my friends have conceived with no problems.

Morning all

I'm 14 days past my Ovitrelle 250 trigger shot and am getting feint positive with internet cheapies and Tesco own brand, which come up in the timeframe and boyfriend can see. Annoyingly they don't seem to have gotten darker, I was hoping for a nice, clear answer today.

As such, could they still be detecting the trigger? I tested at 8 days past the shot and got a negative, but only with OneStep which I'm not convinced of....

Thanks for reading Smile

@QS88 I doubt it would be the trigger still, I would get yourself a frer as those cheap ones are not good for early testing (despite what they claim!)
How many dpt are you? I tested at 9dpt and I wouldn't test much before then and expect a true result. Good luck!!

FlapJackered · 28/03/2020 08:01

@QS88 although that was after a 5dt so if you had 3dt I would say wait until 11dpt?

QS88 · 28/03/2020 08:11

Hi @FlapJackered thaks for replying, have just bought a frer I think you're right I'm going cross-eyed looking at the cheapies. I'm 9dpt today, so perhaps just to early to tell as you said. Wanted to test throughout though as if there was a chemical in there somewhere I'd still rather know.

FlapJackered · 28/03/2020 10:58

@QS88 I totally understand that, I would use the frer with fmu tomorrow morning and fingers crossed you'll get a line! Good luck!🤞🤞🤞

QS88 · 30/03/2020 08:32

I did the frer this mirning (15 and a half days after the Ovitrelle 250) and got this within 2 mins.... is it safe to take as a bfp?

*morning

QS88 · 30/03/2020 08:34

Really hope this is a sticky one if so.

FlapJackered · 31/03/2020 09:32

Congratulations @QS88 that is definitely a bfp! 🎉

QS88 · 31/03/2020 10:07

Thanks, am very surprised but obviously very pleased too. Will relax more after the scan in a few weeks. Apparently these are still going ahead, assuming the staff aren't ill which I'm relieved about.

Blessing786 · 31/03/2020 11:32

@QS88 congratulations !!!! Can I ask what abc branch did you have your ivf done ?

QS88 · 31/03/2020 11:57

Hi @Blessing786 thank-you Smile This was at Bristol branch. Was my first round of IVF so am very pleased and feel very lucky that it worked (or at least that we've got to this stage).

Blessing786 · 31/03/2020 14:32

That’s brilliant @QS88!!
Hope it all goes well for you !
I am having it done at the Harley clinic just waiting till they re-open to start my treatment consultation and finally start ....I wonder if they will re-open April 13th.....😩. This wait is just so frustrating ....

QS88 · 02/04/2020 07:52

@Blessing786 thank-you so much. I'm so nervous! The wait must be awful, especially as we are all stuck at home so difficult to find distractions / amplifying the "life on hold" feeling Sad I will keep my fingers crossed for the 13th! Hopefully when you do get your treatment, it will be a safer world, with less to worry about x

Shin36 · 30/04/2020 04:23

This is really useful information that all of you have provided and I’m hoping to have a consultation with them once the pandemic is over🤞
