ABC Infertility

Looking at potential IVF options and to stay with our current fertility clinic, we’re looking in the region of about £6k for IVF including medication. I have come across ABC in London a few times and I’ve also seen women on ttc/infertility fb groups talking about having their IVF done there.

I understand it’s known as “shoebox” IVF which is why it only costs £2500 including meds, scans etc. Which is amazing to be honest when you don’t have thousands and thousands to spare like we don’t. I was just wondering if anyone on here was considering going, is currently or has been through IVF with them and if they’re worth it? I feel like it may be a “too good to be true” situation but if it’s not, it would really be a step in the right direction for us money-wise

Congratulations @Ojoy1986 !! That is great news! You must be over the moon!
We have our consultation with ABC on Wednesday. 😬

I am surprised as on here there seem to be a few ladies who were at risk of OHSS, I thought that because it is mild ivf OHSS was really unusual with ABC?

Ojoy1986 · 21/11/2019 20:34

@Courts1609 oh that’s fantastic news, congratulations.
Thanks @FlapJackered I think if you have PCOS you’re perhaps more at risk but yes the low meds are def best to avoid it.

FlapJackered · 21/11/2019 20:45

@Ojoy1986 I hope you don't mind me asking but were you on mild ivf, low dose stims? I thought ABC only offer the mild option?

Ojoy1986 · 21/11/2019 20:50

Yes I was on the lowest 125? But upped to 150 halfway through. I think the meds could go all the way up to 500? But don’t quote me on that as I’m not very experienced with ivf. Best of luck with it all. It moves so quickly, we had our initial meeting mid September so I can’t believe we are at this point already!

Congratulations @FlapJackered and @Courts1609 . I got a BFP too I'm 5 weeks tomorrow so still very early. One thing that did shock me though is after tomorrow I have to pay for my progesterone so much for all meds included. They're cheaper in Asda if anyone's not passed that stage yet x

FlapJackered · 21/11/2019 21:18

@Ojoy1986 thanks! Can't wait but also terrified!!

Congratulations @impatientlyinfertile ! 🎉

Courts1609 · 22/11/2019 05:57

Congratulations @FlapJackered healthy and happy pregnancy and beyond x

FlapJackered · 22/11/2019 07:10

@Courts1609 @impatientlyinfertile I wish I was pregnant but sadly not yet! I am going for my consultation with ABC next week. 🤞🏻

Courts1609 · 22/11/2019 07:28

So sorry @FlapJackered I misread. Good luck for next week!

Congratulations @impatientlyinfertile happy and healthy pregnancy x

impatientlyinfertile · 22/11/2019 10:20

Ooh @FlapJackered I'm sorry I think I just skimmed through to catch up.
How far gone are you @Courts1609 ? X

FlapJackered · 24/11/2019 14:01

Does anyone know what I need to know or bring for the first consultation with ABC?
I know there is a scan, do you need a full bladder for it?
I will take all our test results just in case.
I am a bit worried as I am slightly under their minimum bmi , how strict are they with that?
I have been trying to put on weight but just had norovirus and it has put me back to square one 🙄
Thanks!

Courts1609 · 24/11/2019 15:06

@FlapJackered
I took a whole folder full of all our test results because if you cant show all the ones they want then you’ll have to pay for them in addition.
I’m not sure about the BMI. I I’ve only ever read below 30bmi, not noticed a minimum.

Wishing you all the best for your appointment. I’m the Bristol clinic x

FlapJackered · 24/11/2019 15:16

@Courts1609 we are going to the Bristol one too! It's good to hear someone else going through it there as I was a bit worried as it is so new.
Thanks for the advice I will print everything out for them.

impatientlyinfertile · 24/11/2019 19:57

Empty bladder @FlapJackered good luck x

Paola1313 · 28/11/2019 18:31

I'm so happy for you! God bless you and thanks for giving us an update about your case

Paola1313 · 28/11/2019 18:36

@Courts1609 and @impatientlyinfertile congratulations ladies, wishing you a great pregnancy and healthy babies.

FlapJackered · 28/11/2019 18:41

I had my consultation and so far really impressed! It's the first time I haven't felt rushed out of the door in a consultation.
So all set for January! Terrified and excited!
Thanks for all the advice. 🤞🏻

Courts1609 · 28/11/2019 19:52

Thank you @Paola1313

@FlapJackered glad you had a good experience! Was Sherry or Jill your nurse? Sherry has been my main one.

We had our 7 week scan today and got to hear the heartbeat, was so emotional. I’ve still got continuous spotting but she can’t see the source and it might just be my lot for this pregnancy.

Wishing you all the very best x

Courts1609 · 28/11/2019 19:54

@impatientlyinfertile sorry I missed your message, I’m 7 weeks today, due 17th July x

FlapJackered · 28/11/2019 20:22

@Courts1609 congratulations! That must have been amazing! I wouldn't worry about the spotting, I think it is quite common after ivf, my sister has had spotting throughout the first trimester with her ivf pregnancy.

I had Jill and she was so lovely and really knowledgable. I feel much calmer about it all now. What dose of menopur were you on?
They are putting me on 75 which seems v low, I hope I get some eggs with that. 😬

Courts1609 · 29/11/2019 06:45

@FlapJackered I can’t remember what mine were called but I started on 125 of the one that you choose the dosage and this was then reduced to 75 as my ovaries were so overstimulated. They collected 28 from me, 11 fertilised, 7 became blastocysts. We have 6 still in storage x

Kellyanddave1 · 06/01/2020 02:38

Hi all, I've loved reading through this thread, congratulations to all you lovely ladies that have conceived and good luck to all of you waiting!
I am currently looking at ABC Manchester and just wondered who has used them and how you have gotten on, it's quite a new clinic as far as I've gathered. Researching at the moment as I still have 2 rounds of letrozole left before ivf becomes my next step. I'd really appreciate any opinions, thanks 😊 x

Ouryear19 · 24/01/2020 20:04
