IVF September/October 2017

Hi Ladies! Finally I will have my first IVF treatment as soon as my next cycle starts which I expect it to be more or less end of September/beginning of October. My periods are very irregular so I never know exactly. My consultant suggested antagonist protocol which I will receive in post soon. I am extremely excited but then realistic about the fact that it might not be successful first time.

How are you feeling ladies? When are you due to start your Ivf Journey? Fingers crossed for all of us fighters;-)

Elizabeth thinking of you today, hope you feel better.

Scots How are you doing today? I'm pretty sore, like bad period cramps. My usual cramps are pretty hideous anyway so I'm coping. Hoping a gentle walk and some cocodamol will help.

How's everyone else doing today? Xx

Scotslass01 · 01/10/2017 09:23

Sunshine - how are you today?

Dinks - how did you sleep? How you feeling?

Elizabeth- are you feeling any better?

X

Scotslass01 · 01/10/2017 09:25

Dinks I'm actually feeling a wee bit better. Cramps are not as severe. I had a great sleep last night as well.
One thing I will say, my boobs are really sore.
When did the clinic say they would phone you?? X

Hi ladies. Thanks for you concern. I’m feeling better today, still I’ll and the stabbing pains come and go, very sore and bed rest all day today and tomorrow I’m sure. Nothing like yesterday though. I had to hold off on the fsh today and I went for some more bloods and scan. He said I’m not hyper stimulated but still could get to that stage so I have to be careful. They will call me later today to find out what dose I’ll set my gonal f on. More bloods and scan on Tuesday morning. I hope I don’t feel like this the entire time taking the medications because I literally cannot go into work feeling like this without laying down after 3 mins standing. I didn’t think it would be this demanding on my body. I hope everyone is doing ok x

ElizabethCatherine · 01/10/2017 12:32

@Filipinam you take the injections in the evening? I was told in the morning between 7-9am weird how nothing is consistent with everyone! I found gonal - f in the Lower tummy to be ok, I then tried the orgalutran in the tummy and I found that one stung a little so have started doing it in the fatty part on the side of my leg/side butt if you know what I mean. Didn’t feel the sting as much it’s not going in it’s just a little stingy after.

dinksandbinks · 01/10/2017 13:29

Hey Scots, glad you got a good night's sleep!! I slept like a log last night but am feeling progressively ill-er today. Had to do some emergency first aid on one of our chickens so was running about the garden, not sure if that's why I feel ill? I'm nauseous and short of breath, and my belly is enormous. Going to take it easy for a bit and see if it gets better. In not in huge amounts of pain so I don't think it's OHSS...

And yes, boobs. OMG literally the most painful they have ever been. I can't even touch them they're so sore. May need ice packs!!

dinksandbinks · 01/10/2017 13:32

Elizabeth I found orgalutran just hurt wherever I did it!! The injection itself was fine: it was always the minutes after when it was most painful.

I had to take merional late at night, and orgalutran first thing. I guess the timing is whatever works for you, and the clinic? Regularity is the important bit!

dinksandbinks · 01/10/2017 13:36

P.s. So far 14 embryos... unbelievable! Looking at transfer on Thursday, they're going to call on Tuesday.

Sunshine300 · 01/10/2017 14:06

Dinks that's amazing!!

Minster2012 · 01/10/2017 15:44

Wow I've missed so much by being in bad signal!!

dinks 14 is excellent you must be so pleased, you will have lots to freeze then, that's fab, not envious at all!!

scots you sound like I felt after EC, I had constipation & cramps & even phoned my clinic to see if it was normal & apparently a bit weird but it does get better & wears off!!

Elizabeth hope you start to feel better & it levels off so you can keep working, it just affects everyone so differently it's tough

Sunshine are you testing this week? Are you feeling a bit better, I hope there's no blood showing but don't forget hanim showed that's not necessarily a bad thing it could be the embryo hatching out into your lining Smile

filip I did all my injections in the evening weird isn't it!!

And everyone else positivity & hugs x

ElizabethCatherine · 01/10/2017 17:33

@dinksandbinks 14! Wow! You should be well proud that’s fantastic news! Yes rest easy, I think that way my problem I’m like oh I’ll just work all day and then go out and about after shopping, started to get so bloated. So key to try and keep ourselves as relaxed and calm as possible during this. I just need to remind myself to slow down sometimes. But now I can’t even move - go figure

ElizabethCatherine · 01/10/2017 17:34

What are everyone’s thoughts on pain killers? Are they safe to take? Also is it safe to put a hot water bottle on your back during injections? X

Minster2012 · 01/10/2017 18:07

Elizabeth I think the injections are just subcutaneous (my surro & friend who is having the injections is a nurse so mentioned this at an appointment) so once the fluid is in your system anything on the surface shouldn't make a difference so a hot water bottle should be absolutely fine

ElizabethCatherine · 01/10/2017 20:59

Thanks @Minster2012 xx

dinksandbinks · 02/10/2017 10:37

Morning everyone!

I am still sooo bloated. My stomach muscles are starting to hurt, and I've had to work from home today as I literally can't fit into my work clothes. Ovaries are still a bit sore, but it's mainly the bloating that's a problem, I can't do anything but lie down. I think I might need to talk to the doctors as I can't go back to work like this!

Sunshine I know, I honestly never expected that many! Even the consultant said they were expecting 11, max, with a few over-ripe. How long have you got to go before you test? Hope you're doing ok!

Minster I feel a little embarrassed about the 14 embryos. It is totally beyond our expectations. I don't make good quality eggs on one side, so I suspect that number will go down a fair bit. But still!

Scots are you back at work today? How are you feeling? Are you taking progesterone btw? I'm on the injections and I suspect they're going to become a problem after a while!

Elizabeth hope you're feeling better!

ElizabethCatherine · 02/10/2017 10:48

@dinksandbinks it’s the worst not being able to wear clothes properly from the bloating. Sorry to hear you are uncomfortable. I have been wearing my top button undone on my pants for
The last 5 days. I’ve been wearing black yoga pants with longer shirts so they look like pants. I actually am just going to buy a pair of maternity pants now to be more comfortable. There is ones that just have a small band where the button would go, instead of those massive over the belly ones. They look comfy. Top shop do a black pair called Jamie or Joni I have the regular non maternity ones and they are my favourite pants I have ever bought. Online usually sold out so waiting until I can go into store. Just thought id share for anyone that is uncomfortable during this bloat! Hope you feel better soon @dinksandbinks ! I am feeling much better then yesterday and nothing was like Saturday so I am happy to say it looks like I am on the mend but crossing my fingers I keep going the way

Sunshine300 · 02/10/2017 10:55

I wore maternity trousers from around first scan to just last week. I literally couldn't handle anything right and just made me feel so much more uncomfortable. Agree the Topshop under bump Ines were best - I had 'leigh' black jeans that look dressy enough for work or fine for weekends that I lived in and you can't tell they are maternity which was essential.

In for my blood test tomorrow so should know by end of day tomorrow. Really anxious about finding out. Pretty distracted at work today so just doing my best to get anything accomplished but it's a struggle.

Hope you all start to feel a little more comfy today.

dinksandbinks · 02/10/2017 12:23

Hey Sunshine! Gosh, tomorrow... I have everything crossed for you. I hope today doesn't drag too much and you get positive news tomorrow!

Sunshine and Elizabeth - I am cursed with height :( I'm 6 foot so Topshop stuff doesn't fit me, unless I get the 'tall' version and the good stuff is always always sold out. I've just ordered an ASOS pair of tall maternity jeans. Mostly I wear skirts and tops to work, so will need to buy longer tops too... argh tall person problems.

Scotslass01 · 02/10/2017 12:36

Hello ladies,

Dinks what an amazing number of embryos! That's fantastic.
I'm feeling much better today. Still a little bloated but not to bad. I was finally able to get my wedding & engagement rings back on this morning.
I'm using the progesterone pessaries twice a day. They are not too bad to be honest. Have to lie flat for 20mins after applying.
My boobs are huge and sore I presume it's from the progesterone. I'm working at home today and tomorrow then off till after I test. I don't want the stress of work.
I have booked a fertility massage for tomorrow wanted as close to ET as possible.
Sorry to hear you are so uncomfortable. What a shame. Can they not give you something to help. Like a water tablet or something?

Sunshine wow tomorrow will be here before you know it. How exciting but utterly terrifying at the same time. Sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

Elizabeth glad to hear you are feeling better you had a real rough spell there.

Minster hope you are well.

Hanim I hope you are keeping well

X

Minster2012 · 02/10/2017 12:44

Sunshine I really hope today goes fast and u stay busy

Being bloated is awful, I was terribly bloated but didn't find a cure unfortunately, I just lived in leggings!

My friend is onto her patches now & im trying to stay busy too, it will be hopefully 3 weeks on Thursday, we have decided to wait the full 2 ww out too and not test before but we just do poas to confirm it, I hope these 3 weeks go fast Smile

Hanim79 · 02/10/2017 12:52

Hey everybody x so sorry for being quiet, I’ve been worrying sick and didn’t feel right to post my negativity. Saw my go this morning, she wants me to stay off work for another 2-4 weeks. I am still bleeding but she isn’t concerned as my vitals all seem fine and she said women can bleed up to four weeks in pregnancy and I have no pain or clots or high temp. But if it doesn’t slow down in the next few days she said to contact the clinic as she’s not allowed to refer me for anything as the clinic wouldn’t like that! So keeping all crossed ! Xx

Hanim79 · 02/10/2017 12:52

Go was supposed to say GP! 🤣

Scotslass01 · 02/10/2017 14:35

Minster 3 weeks will fly in. So excited for you.

Hanim gosh you must be worried sick. I know the GP is saying all is fine but it won't stop you fretting. Take the time off and rest up. Big hugs x

Today is the first day I've been out walking and by God my lower back is sore. I had to sit down and rest in the shops as feel so uncomfortable. Argh!

Minster2012 · 02/10/2017 14:45

Scotslass thank you, I hope so, I'm terrible for just sitting staring at the calendar 🙄Literally trying to wish the days away!

hanim that must be terrible, rest up and watch films, trashy TV, read mags & keep us posted, much love ❤️
