Hi Ladies! Finally I will have my first IVF treatment as soon as my next cycle starts which I expect it to be more or less end of September/beginning of October. My periods are very irregular so I never know exactly. My consultant suggested antagonist protocol which I will receive in post soon. I am extremely excited but then realistic about the fact that it might not be successful first time.

How are you feeling ladies? When are you due to start your Ivf Journey? Fingers crossed for all of us fighters;-)

RoseWrites · 25/10/2017 09:51

Hello all!

So much has happened! Thank you Minster for the recap a few pages back :) I think I'm pretty much up to date now.... but sorry if I miss anyone!

Huge congratulations to dinks and Scotslass - so exciting for you, i'm so pleased :)

And congratulations too, to you goodluck? HOpe it is still all going well.

Minster I am so impressed by you doing all this AND having your own treatment. You are amazing :)

OMG Elizabeth I can't believe how ill you have been. Are you feeling better now?

I've been away with work for the past week. It's so nice to be back home! We are off for our first scan today, all being well we will move on to the stimulation phase. I'll let you know how we get on...

xx

Hi all. Sorry been absent for a day or so. Just needed a break and been spending some quality time with DH. Good news we have 2 day 6 blastocysts to freeze which we are really excited about! She said they looked good quality 4AB and 5BB. Went out with DH for a long walk then for dinner. We started to talk about our future with kid(s) and it was just so wonderful. I'm welling up now thinking about it. I just hope it can be a reality. It's been a long journey albeit not as tough as some on here and we just want to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel! Anyway don't want to get all down, trying to stay positive!! I'm going to watch Bridget jones baby later and see if I can find other feel good movies as someone else has said it's good to laugh and be happy in the 2WW. Any other suggestions welcome.

rosewrites good luck for your first scan. Hope it's all ok and you can start.

harry sorry to hear about the bleeding but don't give up hope yet! It can be common in early pregnancy. Could it be implantation bleed? I read it's more common with ivf (not sure why)

filip hang on in there. Yours sounds like it could be implantation bleed as well. Fingers crossed for sat 🤞🤞

minster that is an amazing story and I really take my hat off to you. You will make an amazing mum and you deserve it so much after all you've been through. Your friend is absolutely amazing as well to be your surrogate.

hardygirl how are you doing ? Remind me how many dpt you are?

elizabethcatherine hi. I'm not sure if we've 'met' before as I joined the thread recently. Welcome back it sounds like you've really been through the mill. I'm sure your embies are staying strong waiting for you. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a successful transfer in the future.

mrspatel thanks for the positive story and tips. So good to hear a first time success story

aliona sorry think I've lost the plot! Where are you with your cycle? Are you having a frozen transfer or are you post transfer?

atik how was your blood test ? Are you doing a medicated cycle or natural cycle ?

Hello lovely ladies!

I am in Rome for Business and got bored so decided to read your thread in the last 3 days. You made me cry, laugh, reassured me, educated me and much more! Thank you so much I really needed this.

I am 44 starting my ICSi around the 15th of November. No children, divorced but find my new young man 3 years ago and been trying for a child for 2. His swimmers do go straight so ICSI it is!!!

Just got my prescription and holly crap not used to all this medication but hey thinking of the result Smile. I am on a short protocol and what I am uncomfortable about is the famous EC, BUT you have given me strength. I have an AMH of 10.4 and 8 follicles on left and 5 on right. My Consultant was quite positive.

For all of you on the 2ww good luck and be strong you can do this! For the first scans - bless you and have a wonderful experience. OHSS ladies, you are brave, take good care of yourselves. You can do this!

I have done fertility reflexology and it is great if you don't like acupuncture because of the needles.

Bless you all and hope you don't mind me joining, I think I need to belong somewhere.

If you could be kind enough to recommend where to buy the medications? Some say ASDA? How long does it take to arrive?

Lots of love to all and thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences!

minster you rock girl!!! You are such an inspiration Smile

Minster2012 · 25/10/2017 16:44

Hi everyone,
Welcome to the group Star, when in Rome why not try & get pregnant eh?!! Lol! Never too late, I think goodluck is a similar age & got BFP. Thanks for your kind words, I obviously do rock (slowly backwards & forwards some nights 🤣!) nah, just keep going! Most ppl do say Asda who don't get meds from clinic I think. You quickly get used to the meds, "pinch a chunk, breath in before stabbing, breathe out as stab" worked well! EC isn't as bad as u think!

We had our extra scan today to see if my friend was over the 8mm lining & is at 7.8mm so now have another scan on mon & another delay but tablet dose increased to the max as it would be the week before ET.

Feel a bit better but still deflated but need to repeat after me "slow & steady wins the race, slow & steady wins the race, slow & steady wins the race!"

The dog thinks I'm nuts!

Hi Rose Nice to see you back!

& thank you to @mrspatel for giving us hope, sometimes sorely needed

elizabeth I hope even just today u are feeling slightly better

Oh but a quick question to those that have had ET & in 2ww, did you have the progesterone blood test the day before to check level was over 30? We were not told this before & apparently if it's not it can be cancelled as it could "waste an embryo in an environment that might not be conducive for it?" & have to start all over again??!!

Goodluckjonathan76 · 25/10/2017 16:47

OMG Minister, I just read your story. I am so sorry my love. What an awful time you have been through. So so glad that the treatment has been so effective at keeping the cancer at bay and it's brilliant that you have got this far. To go through all of that and then fertility treatment is quite something. I am guessing IVF is a walk in the park after what you have been through. Cannot believe the GP didn't refer you immediately.

I have also had a brush with skin cancer. Got diagnosed Stage 1A in January this year. Had my 3rd 3 month check-up earlier today. All seems ok but it seems that it can come back, even years later. I was also terrified to read of links between pregnancy/IVF/melanoma and all sorts. Just trying to blank it out.

Goodluckjonathan76 · 25/10/2017 16:50

Minister, re progesterone, my clinic tested me just after ET I think and called to say levels were fine. I know they try to monitor closely. Glad mine are ok as trying to avoid the "horse needle" progesterone injections which they usually recommend. My friend warned me off them so I asked my consultant for an alternative which seems to be working fine so far.

Atikakck · 25/10/2017 16:55

Otters - a do medicated well doing ICSI, nd going to gp tomorrow to find out about blood test xxx hope all well BT then a don't y a feel crap xxx

Goodluckjonathan76 · 25/10/2017 16:57

Welcome Star!

I am 41 and just got a BFP during our first round of IVF. DH is 47 and we each have 2 kids from previous marriages. We waited ages before TTC on the basis we already had 4 kids between us but then when we started TTC when I was 39, nothing happened which was a massive shock as we expected to get pregnant immediately. I wish in some ways we had done it years ago but we really wanted it to happen naturally. Still not sure why it didn't!

The meds seem like loads but really aren't that bad. The injections get easier and aren't for that long. My AMH was 8.1 then dropped to 5.6 within about 3 months. I only actually did injections for 7 days before trigger and EC on CD12 so it didn't feel like that long and I didn't have many side effects. EC really isn't that bad (I had never been knocked out before!) but afterwards I felt really bloated/trapped wind etc (nice!) but that cleared up within about 4 days. I have to say, the whole experience is quite fascinating. Still trying to get my head around it. Good luck with you cycle!

RoseWrites · 25/10/2017 17:20

Welcome Star :)

The scan was fine. I'm now moving onto the egg stimulation phase. it feels good to be moving along!

Minster2012 · 25/10/2017 17:42

Rose yay to be in the next phase!

goodluck thanks for that about the progesterone, so they didn't test you first before ET that's interesting? Anyone else?

And goodluck don't worry about IVF/pregnancy affecting melanoma or cancer, I asked my whole team about it which includes a UK top professor & they all said it was rubbish, there is no scientifically confirmed link. Also, this was confirmed by my clinic's ethics board who had to pass my case before we could proceed to surrogacy as an embryo containing my cells (which may or may not pose a cancer risk to the recipient as mine is stage 4) is being transferred to someone else. My team had to write reports & the ethics board investigated by their own means if there were any proven higher risk to the recipient according to the research (as I'm in remission) & they also took into account whether this risk could be boosted by the fertility drugs & pregnancy. They concluded there was no additional risk & it could continue as long as the recipient gave consent.

As yours was localised you should hopefully feel better it won't be a problem Smile

Starlumiere · 25/10/2017 18:20

minster how am I supposed to get pregnant without my Love in Rome? Grin I am here on Business sweetie. This made me laugh no end!!! Of course it is our last cycle before ICSI starts next month and still hoping but whatever happens I am fully in and will embrace this journey! Your friend is a very special soul and thank god people like her exists. Good luck with the next step honeySmile

Goodluck thank you and well done you bless you! How wonderful! I would have loved to try at an earlier age but it was not an option with my ex, but my new young love has totally gave me a second chance in life for a family! 7 days only ? Wow that's awesome! I would love that! My clinic seem very good, professional and caring so we will see! I am not worried about the injections, more the sedation as I have never, like you, been knocked out and the thought of them opening my legs and oh gosh Confused but I am sure I will be fine, she says ha!

When I met with the nurse she said she would need to scan me and ad it was the first day of my period I was certain it wouldn't happen. How I was wrong! She was taking my blood pressure while sharing with me that the first day of period is the best time and that the Consultant, male, will to the scan. I looked at her and thought WHAT???? Period? Scan? Male???? RUNNNMM!!! Of course I did not and stayed calm BUT I looked at my blood pressure and said oh this is a bit high to which she replied yes shall I do it again? I went, no point this time it will be much more if you take it. Period, scan, male and now in the same sentence does this to me. She smiled - great for her....I didn't! Then she said he is very nice as good looking with a giggle. I was like ohhhh greatttt !!! Anyway I know they have seen it all and it is only a body and all that - but still the dignity flipping heck. So now I am like yeah whatever!

Goodluckjonathan76 · 25/10/2017 18:31

Ha, yes, there is no dignity in any of it. Amazing what we will go through to have a baby. The only thing I drew the line at were those massive needles for progesterone injections. A nurse was telling my how awful they are - someone has to administer then to you and needs to practically take a run up and stab you in the bum! No way Jose!! Well done to anyone who is managing to do that!

I also did short protocol - couldn't see benefits of doing the long one and was keen to avoid as many drugs as possible.

Goodluckjonathan76 · 25/10/2017 18:34

Thank you Minister, that is incredibly reassuring! I worried about it for ages but couldn't find anything concrete on the internet. Then my friend said to me, there are links between wine and cancer but you still drink!

When will your ET be? x

Aliona19 · 25/10/2017 18:50

otters2017 nice walk and a bit of future planning sounds nice. Also can’t blame you for mixing things up 😂 to many names and stories to keep up with. I have 6 babies in the freezer 😁 but don’t know about the transfer date, should be within next 2 month as far as I know. So just waiting 🙃

dinksandbinks · 25/10/2017 18:54

Going to go backwards and reply to others, but am laughing my head off at goodluck’s description of the taking a run up for the massive progesterone injections!! My OH says it’s like throwing a dart and you have to be really firm lol. TBH they aren’t that bad. They are less painful than the blood thinner injections I have to do in my stomach. Those sting.

I have to go to London for work next week, overnight trip. I don’t fancy having to carry a sharps bin and needles around with me... also don’t fancy jabbing myself in the bum with the aforementioned giant needles but I think I’m out of choices!!

Going to read back to see what’s been happening. Work has been keeping me busy!!

Aliona19 · 25/10/2017 18:56

dinksandbinks Was just about to mention you here 😂 how r you doing? Feeling better? Where u staying in London-I can do the jabbing for you 😂😂😂 I promise I will be gentle

Aliona19 · 25/10/2017 18:57

Aliona19 · 25/10/2017 18:57

harry78 fingers crossed. See that’s the problem with all this symptoms checking and early testing, you can’t tell for sure until test date. I really hope it will work out xx

Minster2012 · 25/10/2017 20:20

star 🤣 Ha I totally missed that crucial word "business" in there! Was walking dog & missed it, then went off on one thinking I were in Rome for IVF abroad, especially as most ppl then get their prescriptions through Asda then!

goodluck step away from google for cancer, honestly, pointless. You'd never eat a bacon sandwich 😱, never have wine 😱, never walk near a pylon. Pointless. You're going to be a mum again, enjoy it! ET for us is now hopefully 7th or 8th Nov, it was meant to be today 😞

harry that's great, see, keep everything crossed, not out yet!! Stay strong and test next week, not out yet lovely

Wasn't somebody testing on Saturday??

Aliona i know!! Saturday nearly here for me, nearly puppy day!! Excited now!!

Atikakck · 25/10/2017 21:23
