IVF Cycle Buddies August/September?

meadowlark3 · 02/08/2017 19:21

Anyone starting a cycle this month? I know there's a July/August thread, but seems that they've mostly all started on their cycles. I'm due to start DR tomorrow and if all goes well will have EC at the beginning of September.

Have not shared our IVF journey with too many people in IRL so would love to have a bit of company here. This will be our first go at IVF, so quite nervous at the mo!

Agh not not know. Not moaning.

Emma1199 · 09/09/2017 20:23

Evening, ladies. Had another scan and blood test today - some follicles have become 18mm overnight, so they are dropping my dosage to 75iu (they are worried I will overstimulate due to my PCOS)- have another scan and blood test in the morning. Hoping to get an early night tonight, and relax the rest of tomorrow after the scan. I've booked the next 2 weeks off work, which I'm grateful for now.

Ging - what wonderful progress with your fertilisation - wishing you the very best for your transfer! Sorry to hear you were in a bit of discomfort after the procedure. Meadow/Fox, sending you both lots of positivity and all the very best for Monday!

Fox23 · 09/09/2017 22:38

Evening all,
Ging, that's great news! I'm so pleased for you. Sound like such a good numbers! Thinking about what could have been will not help. Just stay positive as you will need all your energy for ET. We are all keeping fingers crossed for you 🌷
Emma, your numbers sound good, any ideas when you will have your EC?
Scot- how are you feeling? Funny thing to say that I'm glad you are enjoying your AF. And you are spot on, by saying we pray for years not to have AF, but during this process AF can't come quick enough!
Meadow- ready for your trigger shot? I, trying to watch to, relax and all I can do I count minutes till midnight. Can't believe that it's all happening at the same time for us. I'm so nervous, really really nervous. Not sure if it is the general anaesthetic, or being closer to finding out the long awaited outcome, or for this all to be over, or maybe mixture of it all...but it doesn't help with nerves. Don't know you Ging managed to get through these last few days before EC

meadowlark3 · 10/09/2017 00:31

Fox, thinking of you and sending lots of PMA. Just had my trigger and it was fine. You're right, absolute roller coaster! How will you spend you day tomorrow? Do you have EC under anaesthetic?

Ging, so thrilled for you, numbers sound great! I didn't think you were moaning (but if you'd like to , you're welcome of course!) I would be on pins and needles and you are a trouper. Holding your hand and sending lots of healthy embryo thoughts. I'm petrified, too. This whole process feels like a long and perilous wait. Are you feeling any better yet?

Emma, fab that your scan is looking good today and fingers crossed for tomorrow! Two weeks off sounds brill. Sounds like you may trigger soon?

I've jyst had my trigger, feels a bit more that it's out of my hands now, something of a relief. Briefly lost the plot today after walking a bit and feeling quite achy in the ovaries. When the pain went away, feared I'd ovulated all of the eggs Blush A wee bit of googling tells me this is nearly impossible. Now instituted a ban on googleSmile Hope to get some sleep tonight-last few nights have been loads of hot flashes and wild dreams. Lots of PMA to you all.

Hi ladies

Emma it sounds like you're making good progress.

Meadowlark and fox tomorrow is the day. Fingers crossed for you both. I did feel really full and bloated in the ovary area before. The lady showing me my room went flying down the hall but I had to walk slowly. By yesterday I felt better literally from when I woke up the day after. Also feeling the benefit of being drug free bar the pessaries. I really hope it goes well for you both my fingers are crossed.

Our 6 survived the night. The embrologist is happy with how they look and what they're doing. One is a little slower but she thinks will catch up. She said it's likely it will be a day 5 transfer but will call in the morning at 7.30 if it is. We'll be in the car at 7.30 and either go to the hospital or to work.

Xxx

Fox23 · 10/09/2017 15:29

Afternoon ladies,
Today I feel like bloated balloon and all I want to do is sleep... last night trigger shot went well, didn't even feel it. Tomorrow will be early start, as no food after 5.30 🍳And there is no chance I will be able to sleep after that! little bit of food shopping today and the rest of the day I will just relax.
Meadow- What's your plan!
Gem- that's wonderful! Such good news, and let's hope they behave overnight and you get that long awaited call!
Emma- two weeks off is the best idea ever! I have one off and I'm over the moon about it. Hope all goes well on your next scan 😁

Scotslass01 · 10/09/2017 16:00

Hi all,
Fox and Meadow - so excited for you both. Hope tomorrow goes well. Mind keep up posted when you feel up to it.

Ging - wow! Amazing news. That's great. All going fabby. Let's hope it keeps going that way. So pleased for you.

Emma - all looking positive. That's fabby. Time off is great. I've done the same.

I'm plodding on waiting for the next phase on Wednesday so nothing to report just now.

X

Emma1199 · 10/09/2017 16:59

Hi ladies - scan went well - follicles now between 16mm - 19mm so will be taking my trigger at 9pm tonight - egg collection now scheduled for Tuesday morning...! Praying the follicles have eggs in them... Feeling very bloated (was tricky sleeping last night - also constantly going to the loo), and in shock it has all happened so quickly/that they have brought forward the schedule - trying to stay busy to keep my mind off things. Also nervous about the anaesthetic -poor hubby doesn't know what to do with himself - he's trying to keep me calm/laughing in between my tears...! Ging, really glad to hear your embryos are doing so well - keeping everything crossed for you! xxx

meadowlark3 · 11/09/2017 09:15

Ging, fantastic news about your six! Fingers crossed for strong and healthy embryos. Everything crossed for you!

Fox, how are you feeling? Got everything crossed for you, please let us know how you get on!

Scots, glad you've plodded through another weekend. We're practically to Wednesday! When will your time off begin?

Emma, fab news! How did your trigger go? My DH was the same, one minute calming my tears the next making me laugh, bless him! Got everything crossed for you tomorrow!!

I'm feeling much calmer today, (Blush at my panic above!) still bloated and a bit crampy, feels almost as if AF is coming. I've thought of my worst case scenario (I've already ovulated all of the eggs, all follicles are empty, none are mature) to my best, and know that they're all possible. Feels completely out of my hands now so no use in fretting.

Lots of PMA, productive follicles and healthy embryo energy to all.

OP posts:
meadowlark3 · 11/09/2017 15:14

Hi all, we got eight eggs, I'm thrilled as we only expected six or fewer. Will know tomorrow about maturity and fertilisation. Fingers crossed. Procedure wasn't too bad, a bit crampy now but otherwise fine.

Fox, hope you're getting on well, sending lots of good thoughts.

Clinic told me to drink three litres of water per day, anyone else heard of this? Seems like a lot but I reckon might help clear the stims in preparation for a transfer?

OP posts:
Fox23 · 11/09/2017 15:41

Hi ladies,
Meadow- so glad you are also all done 💐💐💐💐💐
So, just got back. 16 eggs! I only had 9 follicles last time they scanned me. With only 4 being good size. Not sure how 16 happened. It was all so quick and easy. I didn't feel drowsy or sleepy afterwards and was ready to leave in abou 30min. Same as you meadow, I was told over and over to drink 3l water, caffeinated drinks are ok, just cant be counted as part of these 3l.
And will know tomorrow about the results. Fingers crossed.
Just ordered pizza, so hungry!
Also, after days of feeling heavy and bruised I now feel so light and normal.
Let's see if I feel as great once anaesthetic has worn off 😜
Xxx

Ging78 · 11/09/2017 16:59

Super news here today!!!Smile

Emma best of luck with yours tomorrow. What time is it? Will be thinking of you.

Meadowlark and fox. Amazing news!!! Fingers crossed they fertilise overnight. You both must feel so relieved. Some random words of advice.. fibre is your friend after anesthetic and with starting the pessaries.

The 3 litres of clear liquids are to prevent ohss. Apparently can get quite bad at this point.

Our 6 little embryos are doing really well. The slow one caught up and the reports have been good. It's tough keeping positive while being aware so much could go wrong. The embrologist called this am 6o say it'll be Wednesday for a day 5 transfer. We don't get an update tomorrow. They leave them alone for a day. We are transferring at 12 on Wednesday.

Xx

Scotslass01 · 11/09/2017 17:42

Meadow & Fox - woohooo! That's great news. So pleased for you both.

Emma - all the best for tomorrow. Fingers crossed all goes well.

Ging - all looking good. Yay!

I want to be at the stage you ladies are at. I've still got such a journey ahead of me. I'm feeling so anxious and nervous.

Meadow - I'm taking the time off we inget the ET.

X

meadowlark3 · 11/09/2017 21:10

Brilliant news all around!

Fox, 16 is fab!!! Hope you're enjoying your pizza and got everything crossed for good fertilisation tonight.

Ging, fab news for you too!! Brill that you'll have 5 day embryos, keeping everything crossed for you too! Can't believe yours have been hatching for three days already!

Scots, thanks for your kind thoughts! You'll be at this stage so quickly, honestly, it still feels a bit surreal! Fingers crossed for your scan Wednesday!

Emma everything crossed for you tomorrow!

I'm feeling well, got a bit of a dodgy tummy but I'm sat on the sofa with a hot water bottle drinking my 3L Smile Sending lots more good thoughts to you lovelies xx

Meadow - glad your feeling well.
Wee Q......
What happens on Wednesday, after the internal scan and show me what to do with the injections will they give me an actual injection???

Fox23 · 12/09/2017 08:14

Morning girls!
Couldn't sleep last night at all, could be because I slept like 80% yesterday. I don't think I have ever slept as much!
I actually feel ok after yesterday. I was worried about waking up in pain, but other than slight discomfort I'm ok.
Emma- good luck today!!! You must be in the hospital already! Please keep us updated!
Meadow- hot water bottle! Why didn't I think about that! How do you feel today? I still can't believe we are on the same schedule 😁
Scot- no, you will not get shots at the clinic. With me I had them at home and during the scan they told me when I should do my first one. And then I had appointments every other day to scan and check if dosage needs adjusting. You'll be ok, trust us 😉
Ging- tomorrow is the day!!!!!! You must be so excited!!!

Emma1199 · 12/09/2017 13:12

Hi ladies - thanks for your kind words. Back from the hospital - due to my PCOS they collected a staggering 39 eggs (!) - in lots of discomfort, with very bad period pains atm. They've given me some codine to help, and some other drugs to help counter the effects of collecting so many follicles. Meadow you're an absolute genius re. the hot water bottle - will do that to help with the period pains - I didn't even think of that at al! Clinic will call at 8am tomorrow to confirm quality of the eggs/how many they can use, and if fertilization has occurred - they have already said they will use ICSI as hubby's sperm is too slow moving. ET provisionally scheduled for Sunday... so nervous ladies not sure just how I will survive the next 24 hours...!

Fox23 · 12/09/2017 13:15

So, I had a phone call from clinic, and 7 have fertilised and I'm booked in for Saturday for ET. Fingers crossed they keep growing and getting stronger.

Fox23 · 12/09/2017 13:34

Emma, that's great news, fingers crossed for your call tomorrow! I just slept to stop thinking.
And... I popped out and bought hot water bottle!!! 😃 Yes, Meadow, you are genius 💐
And I also bought 1l refillable drinks bottle, to keep track of how much water I drink

meadowlark3 · 12/09/2017 13:39

Hi ladies,

Emma, sorry you're so uncomfortable but glad you've gotten so many eggs! Hot water bottle was brill, I've also noted I had loads of trapped wind which has reduced overnight Blush and I'm feeling much better today. Hope you get a bit of relief soon, fingers crossed for healthy fertilisation tonight!!!

Fox, brilliant news, congrats on your seven! I hardly slept either, perhaps 3 litres of water before bed wasn't the brightest Wink Did your clinic mention anything about why they do 5 day instead of 3 day transfer? I'm booked for ET Sat too. We really are on the same schedule!

Scots, I didn't have any injections the day of my appointment, either. Have you already got your meds delivered?

Ging, how are you feeling for tomorrow? Will you have one embryo placed or more? Apologies if you've already mentioned this, the hormones have made my memory rubbish.

I've also received a call from the clinic, six mature eggs and all six fertilised normally, so we will do a 5 day transfer. I'm thrilled but ever more nervous! Embryologist said she felt confident they would make it to day 5, but they will still look at them on day 3, does that sound right? I'm sticking with my high protein, low carb diet for now, anyone else have any thoughts on exercise, food, etc?

Sending lots of PMA to all.

Fox23 · 12/09/2017 16:42

Hey Meadow,
I try to stay away from carbs (except for that delicious pizza I had last night and for breakfast) but I figured that I need to treat myself. Also been reading withgreatexpectation.com/ivf/sample-meal-plan-two-week-wait/
Don't know what to believe but it will not do any harm to be extra aware during this period.
Today I actually have been in pain. Very strong cramps and "wind" but hot water bottle is very helpful. I read somewhere that "wind" is actually liquid leaking from follicles, and that's apparently normal.
Emma, how are you feeling?

Scotslass01 · 12/09/2017 17:15

Meadow & Fox - glad you feel ok. Mind let us know how those wee embryos are progressing.

Emma - I hope today went well. Been thinking about you.

So......if I get the injections tomorrow will I start them on Thursday? Eeeeeek haha!

Big hugs to all x

Ging78 · 12/09/2017 17:38

Hi ladies

Some great updates here again. Super news.

Scotslass we didn't actually starting injections until a few days after. It seemed like an anticlimax and then it all started quickly.

Fox well done on 7 great number.

Meadowlark 6 same as me. Also a gab number you must be thrilled.

Emma fingers crossed for good fertilisation news tomorrow.

Hope you're all recovering well.

I've decided to just do 1 of they still look good. At this point I just want my baby and if all goes well will have spare eggs from now when I am 39.5 to use in the future. Am excited but scared about tomorrow. We didn't get an update today as they leave them alone on day 4. Up to now it's been nice getting daily update's on then. After tomorrow were on own. Xx

Ging78 · 12/09/2017 19:38

Meadowlark when you they fertilised normally does that mean you didn't need icsi? I had hoped we wouldn't have to but the embrologist said the morphology was only 4% so she was happier to do icsi. We were happy to do anything to maximise our chances.

Emma1199 · 12/09/2017 21:44

Hi ladies - great to see some good developments from people. I now only have mild period cramps, but I am feeling extremely bloated (e.g. I do not think I can possibly drink/eat anything more tonight) - just wondered, for those that had ECs - did you also feel very bloated afterwards? Due to my PCOS, I am at heightened risk for OHSS, so I am worried, but not sure if I am being paranoid... xx
