IVF Cycle Buddies August/September?

meadowlark3 · 02/08/2017 19:21

Anyone starting a cycle this month? I know there's a July/August thread, but seems that they've mostly all started on their cycles. I'm due to start DR tomorrow and if all goes well will have EC at the beginning of September.

Have not shared our IVF journey with too many people in IRL so would love to have a bit of company here. This will be our first go at IVF, so quite nervous at the mo!

I'm thinking of you both too. Hope those blastocysts are doing well and it goes smootly xx

Fox23 · 16/09/2017 13:51

Hi ladies,
I'm back, and it all went well. Same as you Ging really, and I also got a photo. Doc said that I had one clear front runner, the other one was just hour behind. The other smaller ones she still was positive about. She will call tomorrow to let me know how many they'll freeze. After they popped the blastocyst back in My DH thought it was funny to say that really looks like him. 😀
So, now let the waiting game commence.
Meadow- you back yet? How did it go?
Scots- how are the injections going? Any sideffects? I never had lover back pain, but then again, we all are different.
Ging- thanks for well wishes, and how is your wait going? Nearly-ish half way.

Scotslass01 · 16/09/2017 14:12

Hey Fox!
Fabby. Glad all went well. How many did you have back in?
This will feel like the longest 2 weeks ever.

Injections are going fine. Back feels a bit better today. I'm thinking I maybe just done to much yesterday.
So what's the plans for the next couple of weeks? Lots of rest??

Sending lots of positive thoughts your way x

meadowlark3 · 16/09/2017 16:55

Hi all, thanks for your well wishes! Transfer went smoothly-I was surprised by how quick they do it! Of our six, three were high quality so we popped one in and two in the freezer. One wasn't developing well and the other two are going well but a bit slower, so embryologist said she will check tomorrow and let us know if we can freeze. Quite pleased so feeling positive (but realistic) My test day is 27 Sept, 11 more days!

Fox, your DH has a brilliant sense of humour Grin So glad you've had a smooth transfer! When's your test day? Are you resting or doing anything special today?

Scots, fab that your back is better. Any new side effects?

Ging, how are you managing your TWW?

Sending you all loads of good thoughts! xxx

Meadow - that's great. So pleased for you. Finger, toes and legs crossed.
What's your plans for the next 11 days?

Nope nothing new. Feel tip top today. Had a chill day because I think I done too much yesterday. Just going to walk the dog then put my feet up again.

X

meadowlark3 · 16/09/2017 20:04

Thanks Scots! Glad to hear you're feeling better, hope it stays that way! No plans really, aiming to keep a fairly normal routine. Also doing some of the wuu things like eating pineapple, brazil nuts, keeping feet warm-figure they can't hurt and let me feel like I'm doing something proactive Smile (when it really seems like success is mostly genes and luck!) I've forgotten, when is your next scan? Sending good energy to your follicles! xx

Hi,
So funny your nightmare Meadow, shark/ fish scales!🐟
I had one put back, and my test is guess when... 27th of course! Also, I didn't realise but if unsuccessful this time, the first frozen embryo round is also free on NHS. And then my DH pulled another funny one and when doctor asked to confirm his last name he just looked confused and asked- who is that? Seriously, I think that's why I married him, he is the funniest 😆
I'm also sitting here in socks, watching tv. Earlier on my DH took me out for date night to a lovely burger place. I figured protein is not the worst option. Now I'm here watching... football.
Meadow, do I still have to drink 3l water? I forgot to ask.

Scotslass01 · 16/09/2017 20:43

Meadow - cool, I've got the week off after ET, I don't want the stress of work. I'm also fitness instructor part time and I've taken 2 weeks off from that. I'm not taking any chances. Your right, it helps give you piece of mind if you are doing everything you can and being proactive.
It's Friday. It's can't come quick enough. I'm dying to know what's going on.

Fox - fabby. Well all the best. The 27th will be here before you know it. Haha he's sounds like a scream.

I really am thinking about the 3 of you and rooting for you all.
Hugs x

Ging78 · 16/09/2017 21:13

Hi ladies

Huhe congratulations for today meadowlark and fox. Sounds like it went really well.

Fox we will buy our own test and will get spares too.

You said you read when the idea about laughing came from. Where? My oh picked tropic thunder for tonight.

You dh sounds halarious bless him.

Meadowlark fingers crossed you get loads of frozen ones too.

Scotslass amazing work on the injections sounds like it's no problem now. Bet you can't even remember being apprehensive now.

Had a bit of boo today. I just feel soo tired. I think my body is missing the caffeine again and this week in my job as a teacher classes started for the year so I was actually teaching which wiped me out. I feel so unnaturally tired all the time. We are in bed my 9 most night's but not catching up on my sleep. Also my oh is on call with work and so we are stuck close to home so it's hard to get enough distraction. And it so long before we get to know the outcome of all this. It all got to me and I sat in the car sobbing and trying to explain it to him. Felt better and went for some retail therapy which also helped. Sometimes you just need a cry don't you? Xz

Fox23 · 16/09/2017 21:44

Hi ladies,
Ging- regarding humour/ laughs I had strange one today. When my hubby pulled the "oh it looks like me" card, whilst I was with my legs up, everybody started laughing. And doctor said that laughing and positivity is very good. The link to why laughing helps is here www.parents.com/getting-pregnant/infertility/treatments/in-vitro-fertilization-infertility-myths-facts/
Also, you said that you are feeling very tired and mentioned caffeine withdrawal... OMG that's what I have! And I though I'm getting flu symptoms- aching muscles, tiredness, headache, irritability etc...
I suppose good cry is always good, to offload emotions collecting inside.
Meadow- so happy for you!!!! Your little ones sound like real troopers! I'm also here sitting with my socks on, and after two hours of football, I'm now watching .... boxing. Oh well, my DH also needs tv time 😀
My cat just decided to entertain me- he pushed a peach off the table, straight into the bin, and then without as much as oops, he just stretched the whole length... where the peach was. Lol
Scots- you are doing great! Time will fly by! You will always be busy with injections and then suddenly the next step.

Fox23 · 17/09/2017 11:01

Just had a phone call from clinic, and I have 4 good quality frosties 🤞
So pleased, and it will definitely take pressure off.
Meadow- have you had your phone call yet?
Hugs x

meadowlark3 · 17/09/2017 11:27

Hi ladies,

Ging, sorry you were feeling so low Flowers The fatigue is so difficult and this process is utterly consuming. A good cry always helps. Are you feeling any better today? I reckon you're nearly half way through the TWW now?

Fox, we really are right in step, ten more days! How are you feeling?
I was calm yesterday but now nervous. Yes, I was told to keep drinking the 3L. I stopped drinking fluids by 9 last night so was only up to the loo once overnight Smile I've added a berocca in the morning for some flavour, as I'm avoiding tea and coffee.

Scots, week off sounds perfect, especially with such an active job you've got! Suppose then you'll have more time to relax and walkies with your dog? Fingers crossed for Friday for you!!

Clinic called this morning, the two slow embryos weren't suitable to freeze, but the other two froze beautifully so I couldn't be more pleased. We will also have those two as a part of our NHS go if needed, but fingers crossed this one sticks. Read online that embryo will hatch today and implantation will happen over next 2-3 days so this seems like a crucial point! Just wish we could know sooner whether it sticks or not!

About the laughter, there is also this that says women who were visited by a "medical clown" after transfer had much higher pregnancy rates! Sounds frightening to me but I reckon it's more support for the humour hypothesis Smile

Has anyone else noticed a difference in internet advertisements lately? I've been googling fertility and pregnancy info since we began TTC 20+ months ago but in the last week, now getting ads for baby wipes, nappies, etc.?

Thinking of you all and sending loads of good thoughts. xxx

Hi everyone.
I hope it's ok if I rejoin? Sorry I haven't kept up with the thread. I found it really difficult, but I'm struggling and need to chat to people going through this 💕

I had my transfer on Tuesday. Started out really positive. But I'm getting slight period pain now, and just feel so negative ☹️ I've not to test until Thursday, but I'm thinking that this isn't good.

Who else is on the 2ww? gamblers and ging? How are you finding it? Xx

Scotslass01 · 17/09/2017 23:47

Hello all - awww Ging that's a shame you are feeling low. Let's hope the tiredness is a good sign and it's because your oxy is adjusting to its new addition.

Fox - yasssss! That's great news 🙌🏻. Woohoo.

Meadow - fantastic. So happy for you.

BeHere - welcome back. Sorry to hear you are feeling low. This whole process is such an emotional rollercoaster. Remember pregnancy cramps can feel like period cramps.
Are you still using pessaries?
Try and stay positive.

My injections are going fine. Your right Ging my level of anxiety about them seems mad now.
I'm feeling ok side effects wise. I feel quite twingy inside so I'm hoping that's my follicles maturing.

Positive thoughts all round x

BeHereNow31 · 18/09/2017 05:37

Think I meant to say meadows gamblers is another thread. Sorry 🙈

Still on pesseries and tablets, which is adding to the emotions, I think. A good cry helped me de stress last night.

Thanks for your reply scots sounds like you are coping well with the hormones

Scotslass01 · 18/09/2017 09:26

So......
Day 5 on maximum dose and I'm feeling twingy and a bit uncomfortable inside. Also feeling a wee bit yucky and really emotional.

Did anyone else feel anything like that???

😞😞

meadowlark3 · 18/09/2017 10:29

Beherenow, welcome back, sorry you've been feeling low. As scots said, it is an absolute rollercoaster. I reckon we're so aware of our bodies with IVF that it's hard not to analyse every pinch and cramp. Got everything crossed for you that the cramps aren't significant for anything but success.

Scots, yes, I felt pretty twingy and full inside, especially towards the end of stims. Also felt quite emotional. I'd thought I'd feel cross but mostly felt quite sensitive and fragile, if that makes sense? Just four more days for you until your scan!

My clinic said their pregnancy rate for 35 year old with 5 day transfer was 48%. I know it's not a live birth rate but still made me feel so hopeful for this round, especially after all of the embryologists were telling us how "beautiful" our blast was. Feels naive to hope but also don't want to be too resigned to failure. I'm massively constipated and bloated from the progesterone and feeling all sorts of twinges and cramps on the womb and on the sides, reckon it's my slowed down insides Blush

Hope everyone else is doing well xxx

OP posts:
Scotslass01 · 18/09/2017 13:09

Rightyo at least it's normal to be feeling like that. I'm up and down like a yoyo today. Yeah it definitely feels like there is pressure.

Oh god Meadow, I suffer with ibs so not looking forward to that. Eeeeek!
Stay positive. Let's hope you are in the 48%.

Xx

Fox23 · 18/09/2017 17:24

Afternoon ladies,
Beherenow, welcome back! How are you feeling? Sorry you haven't been feeling that great, but from what I've read it's normal and could be absolutely anything. I've been reading everything poss on internet hundred times over, trying to prepare myself for next day, and then next day... and you never get any answers 🙂 Just stay positive and fingers crossed!
Scots- same here, I felt all over the place before EC. Some days were fine, others... not so much. I did pick few fights with my DH, but now looking back I think I was just looking for outlet of my emotions. You'll be fine Scots, this is a part of a journey, that in strange way I enjoyed.
Meadow- hope you are better! I had the same- cramps! And I got so worried but then I suppose our bits are adjusting after 2 procedures. Did you get picture during the ET? How are you coping with TWW? I'm crossing days out on my wall calendar...
Lots of love
Xx

BeHereNow31 · 18/09/2017 18:32

Thank you for your replies everyone. Last time I had cramps, the hospital told me it could be the progesterone causing them too 🙄 I only have 2 more days to wait now.
Meadow- how are you finding your 2ww? I have been relaxing lots, but also popping out and pottering around the house.

Scots- I felt soooo tired on stims. Went to bed about 7pm every night, and felt bloated and heavy.

Fox- thanks for your support. Where are you in your cycle?

Ging78 · 18/09/2017 18:49

Hello ladies

Hope you're all good in this Monday!!

Fox congrats on your 4 frozen. Excellent news. It sounds like you are surrounded by giggles between your dh and your cat. Just what you need. I definitely had caffeine withdrawal last week. I couldn't figure out why I wanted to sleep all day long and couldn't handle getting up from my seat. It's passed now and am feel little more energetic. My head hurts now though.

Meadowlark 2 frozen yippee and it's excellent that you get them on the NHS too. Omigod the constipation!!! I think that's what made me cry in Saturday I couldn't handle another fibre filled meal that wouldn't necessarily work. I'm inserting 400mg 3 times a day and it's taking its toll.

Welcome back beherenow. Hope your 2 ww is going OK.

Scotslass those twinges are good it's your follicles responding. Friday and your scan will be heresponsible before you know it.

Apparently we still have a week to go. That's 12 days which seems to be more than the rest of you. Meadowlark and fox you've been told 12 and beherenow you seem to have been told 9. Maybe it's cos they don't work at the weekend and we have to report it. Maybe we could test a little earlier.

Now I'm worried that my period will come as it would have without ivf tomorrow. I presume the trigger shot delays it. Does anyone know?

Today I realised I'm absolutely petrified about the test. Have seen so many negatives ones I don't know how I could look at another after all this. I know we are supposed to think positive but I'm so very scared.

Am feeling a bit happier though. We're off to ikea this evening to look at bits for a new kitchen.

Xx

Fox23 · 18/09/2017 19:21

Oh Ging- glad to hear from you! Not long left now, right? You've hit half way mark. 😆😆😆 I was reading that if ivf is no successful, period will start at random time- I.e not relating to your usual pattern. But let's all hope that period is no longer your problem! Positivity!
And- nothing beats retail therapy!!!!!!
Beherenow- I'm now somewhere approaching middle of TWW... well, on Wednesday it will be week away. Your test is only days away! Nothing stops you from early testing as lots and lots of people do (google again), and see why they do... but i don't want to add stress, so I will just wait... will you?
My DH has a nasty cold 🤒 So, he has been locked away in bedroom, with meds and remote, whilst I have moved into living room, keeping away from germs and going to work. Do you think there is any chance I'll escape it this time? Never, never , never have I escaped his cold.... such a s**t timing 😰

BeHereNow31 · 18/09/2017 20:04

Fox- this is the worst bit, isn't it?! I really want to test early. But the hospital told me not to, because home test aren't as sensitive as the blood test. My DH also won't let me! lol I am so scared to phone them and ask them if it's worked...

Ging, my period came 2 weeks after my Ec last time. 10 days after transfer (and the day after I found out it had failed! I did have a bit of spotting a few days before this, and had really bad cramps for a week).

Also, I am only waiting 9 days. It was a 6 day embryo. Not sure if that makes any difference?

meadowlark3 · 18/09/2017 22:04

Scots, I hope you're yoyoing up to a calm place. I found it reassuring to have my twinges as it meant the follicles were plumping up from the stims. Just four more days until your scan!

Fox, I didn't get a picture. I did some obsessive googling today about symptoms two days after 5 day transfer and decided I would drive myself mad if I continued. So no more google for me! Feeling positive and hopeful for the mo but sure that will change.

BeHere, the waiting is so rough! Do you only do a blood test? My clinic gave me a urine test to take at home. Got everything crossed for you for Wednesday!

Ging, love Ikea trips, did you get anything fun? I'm 400 mg twice a day, can't imagine how you must feel on three Sad I don't think your period will come early as the IVF hormones take over, so it should still come about two weeks after the egg collection.

I'm also terrified of a negative test, so I'm promising myself not to test early. Feeling positive and keeping up the PMA today. Thinking of you all and sending lots of PMA xxx

OP posts:
BeHereNow31 · 18/09/2017 22:43

The hospital will give me a blood test. No urine test. Sorry, it's Thursday.

I'm also taking cyclogest, twice a day. Is anyone else getting period like pain on this?? Mines started really early on.

I am more relaxed today. Also had an Ikea trip 😂
