Hi All,
I've diagnosed with PSOS
I'm really concerned about my health and infertility now :(
Has anyone else been diagnosed with it and how has life been since?
Have you managed to fall pregnant with it too, and ended yo having a healthy pregnancy?

Best thing to do is to try to keep your weight down and cut down on sugary crap.

It is possible to get pregnant but may take longer. I was fine during pregnancy and for about 18 months after.

I have pcos. Dd1 was conceived in the first month of trying, dd2 took 3 months. It really does affect everyone differently.

Do you have symptoms?

Well, I already have a 6 year old which wasn't the best pregnancy. I had her early at 28 weeks due to pre eclampsia and 2 miscarriages now. I read that PSOS can cause these things.

We've been trying to have another one for about 4 years and no joy, so I'm under a fertility specialist and he told me I have PSOS. I get constant pain in my right ovary, and irregular periods also problems with my weight my whole life.
He had put me some tablets to regulate my insulin then hopefully balance my hormones as well.

I'm just concerned about my health and not being able to get pregnant again

Have you tried duo fertility? It's a monitor that takes your temp 1000's times while you sleep and tells you when you are going to ovulate about 5 days in advance. We tried to conceive Dc2 for about 2.5 years then tried it and conceived within 5 cycles. My cycles are really long, 35-45 days and multiple ovulation attempts in each. The staff were so good at analysing the data to work out what's going on, it was really reassuring and helpful.

I'm not sure if it's avaliable on the NHS yet, but you can use it at the same time as other fertility treatments. We paid about £500 for a year I think. www.duofertility.com

I know someone who used to work at Duo Fertility, and she said they were great, really supportive, and got great results especially for women with PCOS. She said this a year or two after she left, so I imagine she was being honest.

I have pcos. Conceived ds1 on second cycle of clomid and had a problem free pregnancy. Just had ivf for dc2.

It affects everyone differently. In my case, I ovulate very infrequently which made getting pg without help almost impossible, but many women with pcos do ovulate regularly.

The other issue I have had us excessive hair growth and that has been particularly bad at times. Many women also experience skin problems, though that is something I have avoided so far.

The advice I received was to keep your weight down and eat well. Before starting ivf my clinic also put me on metformin.

Good luck! It is a manageable condition.

Diagnosed PCOS at 18 and lots of struggles with weight. Took 8 years, and was close to IVF, but had a really easy pregnancy/birth/newborn. Good luck!

I was diagnosed a couple of months ago. I have a 2 year old DS who was conceived with Clomid (I was told I had high prolactin at the time).
I'm now TTC #2 which led to the PCOS diagnosis. I was put on metformin and I've also cut out sugary foods and increased exercise. I have irregular periods and don't think I ovulate at all. I've been having acupuncture as well, throwing everything at it!

Has anyone tried inofolic it's bit like taking Metformin it can help regulate periods and balance hormones out

Has that got inositol in it? I've heard that it's like a natural form of metformin but I've never tried it. There's a PCOS group on Facebook that I'm on and a lot of people on there take it.

Yes magpie I got pcos too I've been through ivf aswell but had miscarriage at 19 weeks. Inofolic has Myo inositol and folic acid in. Can you find out if any ladies are takin clomid too or Metformin with it too I'm not ok facebook

I've heard of women on the group taking inositol with met and with Clomid, not sure what the official medical advice on it is though. I know met and Clomid are prescribed together.

I'm not at the ivf point yet, I'm giving metformin a try then will move onto Clomid again.

Oh ok hope it works out for you. Have u not thought of trying inofolic? Have u ever ovulated? And has opks worked for you? I have changed my diet completely I've stopped eating bread And other carbs I miss eatin toast Confused

I ovulated (and conceived my son) on Clomid but otherwise I don't think I ovulate. I've never tried any inositol products but might give them a go if the metformin doesn't help. I've had a massive diet overhaul too. It's hard but I'm hoping it helps!
I got positive OPKs last cycle but my temps didn't show ovulation. Apparently it's quite common for women with PCOS to have false positives on OPKs as our LH levels tend to be high. Blood tests showed my LH was double my FSH when they should be roughly the same.

I have PCOS. Im also 32w pg with DC3! Its not a death sentence to your fertility. For me a catalyst was a decent doctor as I tried for 14 m to have DC1 14m of relentless sex that ended up horrid, when my cycles were 30-90 days, then 26m for DC2 again with shit cycles. After DC2 I changed docs and finally got one that listened!! As for me After DS2 I was a size22 and only ever list weight when pregnant as I was on insulin for gestational diabetes... there is a strong link showing pcos increases your insulin resisitance making weight loss very hard.

Well I started metformin.. withing 6 months id dropped 6st, regular periods etc, and for this DC took maybe 3 months..

Its all about the treatment team you have. Dont loose hope.

Thanks ive got 2 DS' 3 and 6 and DD on the way! Have been on Metforming since DS2 was 8 weeks, on 4 tablets currently perday most ive been on is 5. Its been miraculous for me!

Oh I'm takin inofolic I will start takin Metformin too but I've cut down on carbs don't want blood sugars to go too low

Unless you are crash fieting I cant see metformin making you have a hypo, ive been on it and insulin during pregnancy and only had 3 hypos. Ive been on metformin for 3ish years and noticed results from about 6 months ish, there are a few side effects for me but id rather those than the pcos as I suffered very badly hormonally with the long cycles

I don't think metformin can cause a hypo. Something to do with it reducing the glucose from the food you eat rather than from your body? That could be completely wrong! I was told that met couldn't cause one though.

Cinna that's an amazing weight loss and congratulations on the pregnancy. When you say you suffered hormonally, did you get mood swings with that? That's the worst for me (along with not ovulating). How long did it take for met to help you with that? I've been on it for 6ish weeks and having horrible hormonal moods at the moment!
