Hi All,
I've diagnosed with PSOS
I'm really concerned about my health and infertility now :(
Has anyone else been diagnosed with it and how has life been since?
Have you managed to fall pregnant with it too, and ended yo having a healthy pregnancy?

Thanks

Hi - this thread is a little out of date. We've got some more information on PCOS here. MNHQ

magpie thanks ive not changed my eating habits although my apetite has reduced and am more active simply as its easier to be active now! Pre met with ling cycles the longer it was the more of a nightmare I became, i was so unpredictable and couldnt get my MH issues under control, post met My MH is controlled, and although i still get PMT and am hormonally a bit highly strung, its nothing like what it was!

Took a good 4 months for things to start to settle in that regard, and then another few to find a longterm dose that worked, pre pg I was on 5x500 per day and will probably return to that post pg as will cease insulin.

That's quite a high dose! I'm only on 2x500mg. I'm losing weight quite well though but have made some lifestyle changes. I really struggle with the hormone impact on my MH so you're giving me hope!

Almabajj

Victoria Beckham and Jools Oliver had it and have had lots of healthy children.

Both clearly look as though they have gone on to very careful diets apart from whatever help they may have had.

Probably that blood sugar diet other people on MN are talking about would help or any other diet with vegetables, a little fruit and enough protein eaten at frequent intervals. (Avoiding simple carbohydrates as sugar too, and caffeine, and artificial sweeteners.)

Thanks ladies!! I have totally changed my diet and eating habits which it definitely on the right track. Also, I'm on metformin and having terrible side effects!
For the ladies who have been on it, does this get better?
Also, in what way does it make you loose weight?x

Were you warned about the side effects and told they were OK Alma?

Do you think you need to ask your GP/or telephone NHS direct?

I do not know anything about metaformin OP and cannot advise you. Maybe someone else here could.

Just sickness, stomach ache and general stomach issues. I constantly feel sick and it's bringing me down. These are common problems metformin. Just wondering if anyone else had these and when do these symptoms go away?! X

At first I was on 3000mg which was horrendous. Now on 1000mg - 500mg in morning with cereal and bedtime with milk. I found taking it with milk settled my stomach, though now it doesn't bother me at all (though have been on it 10 yrs!)

Report

I started on six a day - 2 each with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not just 2 a day. Got pregnant naturally after 8 yrs on two a day after a couple of rounds of Clomid didn't work. Good luck!

I'm just taking metformin, but the side effects are horrendous, making me feel really down at the moment SadSad

I've been on them 18 days so far, and since Friday I have been taking 3 a day, and that's since my symptoms got really bad, so hoping it'll take time for my body to get used to it.

I hope it'll all be worth in the end!!Thanks

Have any of you got just one PCO? I asked for metformin years ago but they refused as my bloods didn't show signs of PCOS but since then an ultrasound and an endoscopy have shown signs of PCOS but only on one and I'm wondering if this will make my chances any easier than having both ?
