Starting ICSI in the New Year. Join me?

Hi all. I am currently ten days in to taking Microgynon to suppress my ovaries before we start the ICSI process right after my clinic opens in the New Year. I am 40 and my husband is 41. I have mild PCOS but was told that my greater egg count meant that we had about a 50% chance of conceiving in an ICSI cycle. Trying not to be scared and look forward to hopefully a positive outcome from this process. Anyone else starting ICSI soon? Good luck to us all and to all already on the journey. Let's share our positivity and all we are doing to take care of ourselves.

Thinking of you Mehmeh and hope you're doing OK xx

MehMehM3h · 18/02/2016 17:14

Thanks bananafish all is well, had ET this morning and am full of a cold, it's not fun. Now in the 2ww, argh!

Hope you're well.

Has anyone heard from Craftycakey I hope she's ok

Craftycakey15 · 19/02/2016 17:00

Hi all,

I'm fine MehMeh! I stayed quiet for a few days as I was naughtily taking pregnancy tests before the set date (today). I was getting faint positives and a clear one today so I went to the fertility clinic and had a blood test. Just heard my HCG result is 174 so they are happy with that and dont need to see me to do another.
Really dont believe it and so scared of MC! I called the GP to make an appointment but they dont see patients til week 7 so I was told to call back in two weeks to make an appointment. Feeling oddly scared and in limbo.

Hope all on here are doing well and feeling fine!

Crafty!! Couldn't be more thrilled for you - that's just brilliant!! And to think it looked so different last week - how are you feeling? Congratulations! Thanks

Craftycakey15 · 19/02/2016 17:48

Bananafish! Thank you! I think I have joined your club - I cant believe it. I havent had any bleeding for the past few days thankfully. I dont have any symptoms though. I am exhausted but that is just because I have had insomnia throughout this process. I was surprised that I dont see a doctor straight away. Doesnt feel real and wont for a long time, I dont dare believe it!
How are you? Can you believe we might end up on the Pregnancy forum :)

Awww congratulations Craftycakey I'm so pleased for you! Yay! Flowers

I'm trying to figure out how to get through the next two weeks without testing early!

Craftycakey15 · 22/02/2016 16:52

MehMeh thank you. I am very scared because I dont have any symptoms apart from the odd twinge on movement. I am going for acupuncture tomorrow as I find that relaxing.

I did things like that during my 2ww (well, 9days as I did 5 day transfer): things to relax and try to keep busy. I doubt any women waits till the correct day to test. I was testing from a few days before and getting faint negatives but by then I was desperate to know. Good luck and hope you join me and Bananafish in the early pregnancy club :)

Mehmeh how are you getting on? Thinking of you!

Crafty how about you? Bet it doesn't seem real - esp after such a scare after transfer. Hope you're doing OK

Had our 7 week scan yesterday and saw and heard a little heartbeat. Wow!!!

Craftycakey15 · 24/02/2016 16:42

Hi there Bananafish

7 weeks already! Where did you have the scan? At the NHS hospital? I have only just seen a nurse today at my GP surgery who is referrring me for a scan around week12 I think. The GP doesnt want to see me.

I am having a scan at 7w6d but only because that is being done at the fertility clinic (and then we stop visiting them). I am 4w5d today and I have some symptoms. Feeling some nausea, very gassy and I get cramps when I am walking.

I wish I could have a scan a little earlier just to put my mind at rest!
How are you feeling now? Do you have more symptoms? Exciting!

bananafish81 · 24/02/2016 18:32

Yes the scan was with my IVF doctor - the NHS won't see me till 12 weeks. The HFEA only counts the outcome of a cycle as a clinical pregnancy if a heartbeat is seen so if you've got a positive test your clinic should scan you as they can't class you as a clinical pregnancy without it

I'm having the panorama test at 10 weeks (if I get that far obvs) and will prob book a private reassurance scan at around the same time. Obv something could still go wrong between 10 and 12 weeks, but if it goes wrong between 7 and 10 weeks then we'll know about it before we go along to the 12 week scan in the antenatal clinic full of pregnant women and babies.

My booking appt is 11+5 - which seems to be later than many people, but cos I'm high risk the GP said I'd need to see a Dr rather than a midwife, so maybe that's why. First trimester scan is 5 days later.

MehMehM3h · 24/02/2016 20:10

Hello ladies! It must be so exciting for you guys, I quite like hearing (reading?!) about you guys.

I'm ok, bit frustrated by the waiting...trying to keep busy which is fine when I'm at work but harder in the evenings. Think I'll be scaling the walls over the next few days!

MehMehM3h · 24/02/2016 22:17

Ladies did you suffer from cramps during the 2ww? I've been getting some bad ones today ConfusedSad

Also, the pessaries are driving me mad!

bananafish81 · 24/02/2016 22:32

Yes!! I felt really periody and crampy

I was telling myself it was just the progesterone and not mythical implantation cramping

Well whaddya know it was the latter!

I didn't get any implantation spotting but it is a definite thing with some women

Cramping could be nothing, it could be something. But isn't necessarily a bad thing Smile

MehMehM3h · 25/02/2016 07:45

Ahh thanks bananafish I'm definitely not getting any spotting, just the periody/cramping feeling.

I have to lie down for like 20mins every time I put the pessary in! Argh

Craftycakey15 · 25/02/2016 17:02

mehmeh I didn't get any cramps and was sure I wasn't pregnant. Why do you need to lie down after taking the pessaries? They have given me constipation and am now wondering if the hormone is responsible for my terrible insomnia too!

OP posts:
MehMehM3h · 25/02/2016 19:52

Hey crafty I need to lie down other wise I can feel it falling out (sorry for the tmi)! Even then I still get leakage (again sorry for the tmi), wearing panty liners everyday is not fun!

I got a little constipated at first but am ok now...The wind on the other hand...that's bad!
(Sorry for the tmi!)

Craftycakey15 · 25/02/2016 21:44

mehmeh oh I see! Glad I don't have that! Don't worry though, I'm with you with the gassiness! Gross isn't it! Smile

Any news mehmeh?

OP posts:
MehMehM3h · 29/02/2016 20:00

Hi crafty nope, OTD is on Thursday. I've been good and not tested. Just had some rubbish news as my gran passed away at the weekend and have to figure out what I'm going to do (if I am pregnant I can't go to the funeral and so I don't know what to say to family etc as I don't want to tell them anything just yet) so there is far too much going on!

How are you doing?

Craftycakey15 · 01/03/2016 10:04

MehMeh sorry to hear of your bereavement :(
Do you mean you cant go to the funeral because you fear you would be too upset and made ill by it? Perhaps you could just go to part of it?

I am ok, here. Still cant believe I am pregnant. The only symptoms I have are sore boobs and bad constipation! I might go to the doctor about it, it's so bad. I think it's the pessaries

OP posts:
bananafish81 · 01/03/2016 10:12

Mehmeh my sincerest condolences, I'm so sorry for your loss Thanks

Crafty you can definitely take lactulose if you haven't already - that's the first thing your GP will tell you to take xx

MehMehM3h · 01/03/2016 13:13

Thanks ladies. Sorry, I wasn't clear - pregnant ladies aren't allowed at funerals in Hinduism as it's like a bad omen (death is an impurity)...so that's why I wouldn't be able to go and would probably have to lie as I don't want to start announcing a pregnancy at this stage!

I am freaking out, really scared about testing this week and just scared that it will be negative :(

MehMehM3h · 01/03/2016 18:12

I think I'm out. Getting more blood when wiping and I don't think that's a good sign :(

Craftycakey15 · 02/03/2016 09:07

MehMeh sorry you have a difficult decision to make regarding the funeral. I was thinking I was out in my 2 ww as I was getting blood on wiping and found it very worrying. I still tested positive and it stopped completely. Good luck with testing tomorrow!

OP posts:
MehMehM3h · 02/03/2016 11:07

Thanks Crafty did you get proper bleeding or just spotting?

I think I'm going to need all the luck in the world! :(
