It's been so long, I've gone through all the emotions and continue to do so. Today I am feeling hopeful, so I just wondered if anyone has a happy ending story after a long time TTC?

Hi not myself but my sister. She TTC for 8 years before she had her son. I think they had decided not to worry about it at that point and it just happened for her Grin

curlingandtwirling · 02/04/2014 15:32

thanks fabala thats wonderful! I do know of someone who was trying for 10 years and had given up, then discovered at 40 she was pg. She has since gone on to have 2 more!

There was someone on another thread (not one of the TTC related boards) who had been trying for 18 years and was pregnant at last!! Amazing. Good luck to you curling.

WowserBowser · 02/04/2014 15:57

Yeah that thread made me cry ^

bessie84 · 02/04/2014 16:11

aaawww big hugs, thats awful and i moan and 3 year.

what treatment you had so far?

dont give up on your dream xxx

curlingandtwirling · 02/04/2014 16:18

wow 18 years! Grin

We have had all tests available, unexplained, but as we're not eligible for NHS treatment we are currently saving running out of time as I'm 40 Sad

I can go months accepting the fact that it's not going to happen, then all of a sudden it just hits me. We are currently not even trying IYSWIM, hoping it helps!

My uncle and his wife tried for 18 years then had ivf twins

Viasabat · 02/04/2014 16:27

I tried for 7 years, had IVF last year and now have a 5 month old!

curlingandtwirling · 02/04/2014 16:38

thank you for your amazing stories. Miracles can happen. As I said, I'm feeling hopeful at the moment, so trying to stay positive with the hope that at least we are unexplained and therefore we may still have a chance Grin

I ttc for 7 yrs, including ICSI, then conceived naturally after failed ICSI.

Now on month 19 of unsuccessful ttc2

suzylee73 · 02/04/2014 21:58

I have to pay for my own IVF as I'm 41 so I'm going abroad. It's so much cheaper and they seem a bit more advanced too Grin

curlingandtwirling · 03/04/2014 08:38

fingers crossed for you all!

suzylee73 do you mind me asking where and how much cheaper it is?

It took us 6 years, and we now have a 10 week old dd after IVF. That was secondary infertility though.
If you want info on IVF abroad please PM me - I live in Belgium and would highly recommend the clinic I went to in Brussels. I had four failed rounds somewhere else then went to this clinic and it worked first round. Same happened to my friend too, who was the one who recommended it to me Smile
Good luck.

18yearsoftrying · 04/04/2014 22:18

Twas me trying for 18 years!

£52k spent on IVF for the last 12 years after having no joy for the initial 6 years.

I turn 39 this month. Got this result via a Spanish clinic upon our first visit...all the other cycles were in this country.

No NHS funding to me WHATSOEVER.... Not even the initial blood tests at the GP's for specialist referral.

Have you tried crystal therapy or acupuncture? I happened to have these on my last attack of IVF....& look what happened!

MarianForrester · 04/04/2014 22:24

Yep, we'd been trying for over six years; I got fed up, decided To give up and booked a mirena appointment... Cancelled at last minute.... Next thing upduffed :-) Was quite old too.

loflo · 04/04/2014 22:26

17 years. No joy but fun trying. And we adopted our lovely DS along the way. Sometimes it still hurts tho.

Solaia · 05/04/2014 11:24

Wow - at 31 months TTC I feel like a newby Grin

AllTheNamesIWantHaveGone · 05/04/2014 11:46

Five years TTC which included three rounds of IVF. We were third time lucky and now have a three month old DS.

Hang on in there OP and keep positive. We were also unexplained which is tough. Really tough. Wishing you all the very best of luck.

xx

curling, im 7ish years so 84mths ish

same as you, no nhs ivf as dp has kids all in their 20's and im unexplained, i do have a blocked tube but other is fine so i should but dont :(
and the amount of sex we have i should be preg iykwim Wink

doing private ivf in about 6 weeks, saved half and putting rest on credit card as im nearly 41 so time running out - may be worth you doing the same/getting a loan

we looked at £5k loan over 3years and was £158per month - tho be very hard paying for a loan for another 30ish months if fails ........

tho doc did say i have good egg count (14) for an old bird ........

good luck and although a huge cost £6kish, dp and i think its worth a try

minxi · 05/04/2014 20:17

No but I'm on 4 years ttc after a mmc Hmm ... Already have dc but would love another Confused. 42 now though so not holding out much hope! Hormone levels all good - spent a fortune on accu... Thought I was in luck this month but alas think I am starting to spot... Oh well another month on its way...
Good luck to you all x x

bouncingbelle · 06/04/2014 01:37

Only 36 months so far but (and I hate it when people tell me 'oh but so-and-so thought they were infertile but then they relaxed/went on holiday...etc) my cousin married at 18. Tried for a baby for 24 years. Thought she was menopausal aged 42...but found out she was pregnant! Now has an 8 year old daughter.

My great grandmother was married 10 years until she had her first child aged 30 (in rural catholic Ireland I don't think this could have been due to using contraception!). She ended up with 12 children (including one aged 49!! She gives me hope!)

thanks for all your replies.

I am trying to be positive but always feel it when AF arrives. 68 months.

We are already maxed out on credit so it's not really an option, otherwise I would have private treatment asap.

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 14/04/2014 15:06

:( bloody AF !!!

Kwym about maxed on credit cards etc but I/we are so determined to try ivf that we have worked non stop recently - doing 2/3 diff jobs each to try and save

As I said the rest is going on credit card which will then be at full limit

But we have to try - even if just once

We are ping on holiday before ivf to relax and my mum ever the optimist said what happens if you get preg on holiday - I said we will be rich lol

But very unlikely to happen

Think that's what so hard. Unexplained

I should fall preg as nothing obvious why I don't (apart from one blocked tube) but other is fine but don't :(
