Oklahoma banning Shariah law

Anyone who thinks we have stupid politics in this country should take a look at the US.

Oklahoma has a tiny handful (about 0.1% of the population) of Muslims with no influence, and yet they're spending $$$ on a bill to ban shariah law.

'Duncan said Sharia law is entrenched in the United Kingdom.

?It is a cancer upon the survivability of the UK,? Duncan said. ?SQ 755 will constitute a pre-emptive strike against Sharia law coming to Oklahoma.?'

A quick look at the comments there shows there's a lot of nutters who sympathise.

'I think this is a great idea,preemptive strike against a n ever growing problem. NIP IT IN THE BUD!I hopeWI. follows your lead.'

Wisconsin doesn't have many Muslims either.

(Shariah law is 'God's law', at least in the eyes of Muslims. The US Constitution actually provides for separation of law and religion.)

Well, linking Obama to Islam is just ridiculous; in the context of Oklahoma, it's a way to drum up support for this measure that will appeal to a section of voters. The assertions about the UK are silly too, but again, there are plenty of silly assertions about the US to be found elsewhere too.

(I personally don't see anything wrong with a pre-emptive strike against Sharia law. It tends to have a negative effect on the lives of women where it is in force.)

Been there also, as I've got cousins in Texas; it's the Texans you got to be careful of...they're 'awash' with guns .

I believe Oklahoma operates the death penalty anyway. I would have thought they would rather like Shariah law in that case. None of that liberal crap, just stick 'em in the chair and fry their asses, huh? or shoot 'em up with a nice dose of poison.I am confident they would see eye to eye on a whole raft of punitive measures!

I expect there is really no difference at all between Muslim fundamentalists and Christian fundamentalists .
