To think evil child murderers should never be released!!

I have just hear that Roy Whiting the murderer of 8 year old Sarah Payne has appealed against his original 50 year sentence using tax payers money and has had it reduced by 10 years.

I am not saying that his original sentence wasn't fairly substantial but in my opinion, child killers like him who committed a cruel deliberate crime on an innocent little girl and who has never shown any remorse for it should remain locked up for life. He could still be a risk when he is freed in his early eighties.

Life for these individuals should mean life in my opinion!!

i absolutely agree SoH.. i was wonmdering wht the OP thought that this should apply to child killers. or all killers

i do think it is better to hav ea case by case basis , but i find it frustrating this would have taken up time/money/court time etc for effectively, nothing

I think it depends on their circumstances- if an individual commits a particularly henious crime which has been completely proven beyond all doubt, never shows any remorse and remains a threat to others then I believe life should mean life for these people. But I appreciate that this leaves lot of unanswered questions such as what if the individual was framed, what if they were genuinally remorseful e.t.c.e.t.c

Sorry, your username is lovely but, to socially stereotype for a moment, I have to admit that hyperbole (love but could not think of that word when I needed it earlier to type something clevererererer) is what I'd expect of someone with that name, that's all. So far, you are the proof in the pudding. Or cake.

But I apologise for not just saying to you that your OP seemed a bit crap because of all the well, hyperbole. Like I said, I forgot the word.

Anyway, I see prison as a protective entity and don't rate the punishment side of things. Rehabilitation where possible is what I would like to see more of and I always piss people off hear by not believing the old 'inherently bad' codswallop. Usually KerryMumbles I think but it's okay because we can be calm about it, even though she mumbles. You just eat cake which could lead to jealousy so will leave my opinion open for now.

PS - I'm doing Atkins.

ShowOfHands · 09/06/2010 17:46

Do you dream about cake?

Shaz10 · 09/06/2010 17:48

On my one week on Atkins I used to dream of white sliced bread.

hobbgoblin · 09/06/2010 18:01

Yes I do daydream about it. There is quite a lot of it about since I am in the habit of making it rather a lot. I bought some fruit cake at a charity cake stall event (second day of atkins, nice timing) and have had to feed that to the children. It is sorrowful. And evil. It's like somebody is having cake stalls for charity in cold blood.

Meant here not here above.

Bread is pretty bad too. Slices me in half that does.

Thanks but still don't see what a user-name has got to do with a persons post- it took me 2 secs to think up. I am a size 8 not some huge cake muncher. I am not willing to apologise for the use of adjectives. I didnt post things on here to get peoples backs up but because it is currently relevent and I love a good discussion. I like the fact that people think differently to me and appreciat e there are loads of people who arent as ignorant as I can sometimes be!! I can't beleive I can be picked up on the way I phrase words- I never said I had an English degree.
If I seem sensitive its because I post things in good faith only to be shot down in flames usually because people have issues with the topic etc. etc This shouldnt be used as a critism forum- I never set out to do this to anyone. My spellings rap too!!
