Sad story - Britain's youngest mother

I feel so sad for her, it must be awful to have no support from your family whilst going through something like that.
I would have liked to have read the end of the article and know what she thinks of her mother but it appears to have been cut off somehow.
I guess this story really shows you not to judge people just based on newspaper articles, becasue all the old articles did portray her as a bad person.

this is the first article earlier this week when she identified herself but obviously no one knew that she had been raped then, and she pretended she got drunk so it doesn't paint a nice picture of her, but has more facts about what happened with her daughter

it scares me that children are being, or not being as the case may be, brought up like this. it breaks my heart. this girl is a victim of her parents' lifestyle. i hope the littel girl gets a much better start in life and the tressa gets herself on teh straight and narrow. she has a fight ahead of her to do it because whe had no firm starting point to learn how to do it.

She's right, she shouldn't have been permitted to go back to her mother, no matter how much she wanted it.

And sadly, I'm glad the baby was adopted out.

A tragedy.

That is horrible. Agree with expat - the baby definitely should have been adopted out. at how that poor girl was (not) raised and how her parents actions and reactions have left her. and

What a sad story but Expat is right, the baby needed to be adopted. Hopefully the cycle of destructive parenting can be broken.

I hope Tressa can turn her life around and can become the kind of mum she should have had when she is ready.

I remember this story first time around, red tops went nuts for it, but I always felt there was more to the story, abuse at home was almost certain to be happening if a child is sexually active at that age. I feel so sorry for her, her mum called her a lying bastard and blamed her for tearing the family apart. It is just awful

Agree with others that the baby should have been adopted, but how sad for her if she goes looking for her mum in a few years and finds out her mum was raped at 11 by her older brother! Words can't even describe it, I hope her adoptive parents will get her counselling should she decide to find her birth mum

It did come out when the case initially broke that Tressa had been in and out of care and hte mother had many children.

It also came out that the child was left completely unsupervised to travel on her own to the Old Town to places like that square behind the Tron when she was only 10.

I live in that charming town she comes from, have been trapped here for years trying to get out. I remember when this first happened and the mother was very boastful apparently. Unfortunately, and like the people featured in that BBC programme "The Scheme", this is how some families think to live their lives.

It is why I want out and why I don't send my dts to the local schools.

I'm worried by her comments that when she consented to the adoption she did so on the understanding that it was an open adoption but then the adoptive parents refused to allow any contact with her. I wouldn't have thought this would have been allowed. Unless there's something else we're not being told...

Also, I dont think an under 18 has the capacity to consent to adoption. She obviously feels like her child was stolen from her. When the child grows up and discovers that, she is probably not going to be too pleased with her new parents and the social workers for 'tricking' her Mum. As we can see from how the Mum talks about her Mum, the child may defend the indefensible, as in her Mum's drinking and drugs.

Adoption isn't some magic wand to fix all ills.

Poor little soul. Both of them.

But the child must stay with her adoptive parents for her own sake.
