That was an ambitious sum to request was it not?

I'm wondering what I might get for dh(although of course he's not for sale)

OP posts:
mrsshackleton · 24/05/2010 21:23

All of you saying she is nice and much maligned, have you met her?

I did some work with her a few years ago. She is not nice and not much maligned, she is phenomenally stupid and vain, misguided and bonkers in a scary, not endearing, way.

She lives in a way almost none of us could dream of and then moans about being broke.

She's awful and the NOTW have done a brilliant job, well done them

Cloudbase · 24/05/2010 21:27

I read the transcript and it was pretty clear that Andrew was definitely letting her benefit from his name and perhaps meeting up briefly with these people at various 'events' and letting her pocket all the cash.

He's so dim he probably thinks he's helping her. I always quite liked them because they genuinely loved eachother, but sadly, her galumphing artlessly around with her foot superglued to her mouth never did her any favours with the 'Firm' - am pretty sure
Andrew will get a 'talking to' from Phil but they will let her take the fall completely - hope she doesn't lose her house!

Cloudbase · 24/05/2010 21:28

Oh, and apparantly she can afford all the flights to LA becuase she is living off her DD's Trust fund - nice!

jonicomelately · 24/05/2010 21:29

I always thought she was pretty awful. She's utterly stupid and obviously very greedy. Wasn't there some tip off to the NOTW, implying she has done this before.

Boffinmum, my ds has a Union flag on his wall. I think it looks quite good. Do you think he may grow up to be a vain, shallow, self-obsessed cretin

whomovedmychocolate · 24/05/2010 21:32

I'm willing to stump up 50p for Andy - after all, we don't currently have a village idiot

Ponders · 24/05/2010 21:40

Beatrice was photographed this week wearing £650 shoes (allegedly)

(presumably it isn't Fergie who pays for those, though?)

loungelizard · 24/05/2010 21:46

Why shouldn't her childrens trust funds pay for her? What's the problem with that?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

The whole set up is ludicrous anyway.

mathanxiety · 25/05/2010 03:47

Nothing new in aristocrats living way beyond their means, or asking for money for access/ pay to play, whatever you want to call it. It's how the royal family and aristocracy always conducted their business over the centuries.

Her speech did seem a bit slurred actually, Rosieposey.

nikos · 25/05/2010 07:45

Did wonder if it was 'just' a cigarette she was smoking.

abr1de · 25/05/2010 07:51

I'd like to offer access to my husband for fifty pounds.

Cash or cheque.

Kathyjelly · 25/05/2010 07:55

I have a bit of sympathy as well. She was brought up to be a well heeled wife, not an international businesswoman. Leaving her to try to do this stuff on her own is asking for trouble.

In all the royal staff and entourage isn't there someone who can be appointed a sort of common sense minder.

I'm not condoning her action but if she really did only get a £15,000 settlement from Andy, then the royals are getting what they paid for.

abr1de · 25/05/2010 07:59

One of the newspapers pointed out that she hadn't exactly been educated to be self-sufficient and work for a living. And then she was cast adrift.

She was like Diana: not very bright and without a huge amount of integrity. Diana had the looks and personality and the big marriage settlement. Fergie was always going to find it harder.

Though she does (or did) have better legs than Diana.

They were girls who would have been perfectly happy married to merchant bankers with nice country homes and nice friends and a lot of charity coffee mornings and balls to organise. That's what they were raised for.

Mandi1984 · 25/05/2010 08:02

DH is on the block for 20 quid or a packet of chocolate biscuits. All reasonable offers considered. No time wasters please.

noddyholder · 25/05/2010 08:02

She is shameless

noddyholder · 25/05/2010 08:04

Agree she did look a bit out of it in the clip what with the lip smacking etc

wedlocked · 25/05/2010 08:27

Can't understand why you would feel sorry for her because she should be some county wife organising the pony club apparently.

Poor thing! Being cast adrift from all that wealth!

Nobody forced her to try and operate as some kind of 'businesswoman'. She was just arrogant enough to think she could do it.

Like she thought it was OK to make telly programmes lecturing the poor about how to live, or producing dire children's books.

Mandi I'll take you up on access to your DH. Is he handy about the house? I'll wire the biscuits to your offshore bank account.

CaveMum · 25/05/2010 08:30

DH met Prince Andrew, and other senior Royals, several times whilst working with the VIP flights that go through RAF Northolt. He said Andrew is a rude, arrogant, stuck up kn*b!
The others, the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Prince Edward were always polite and at the very least feigned interest in talking to the guys that handle the flights. Andrew on the other hand was usually rude and sometimes aggressive - DH saw him bawl out one junior officer for not driving his car up to the plane steps. Shock horror he parked it 10yds away and Andrew had to walk

Fergie brought this on herself, but there is a very fine line on what is in the public interest and what the public are interested in. This sails very close to that line.

Mandi1984 · 25/05/2010 08:33

Wedlocked, DH is not very handy about the house, but makes a useful paperweight.

I will send a receipt for the chocolate biscuits. DH sold as seen. No refunds.

noddyholder · 25/05/2010 08:37

She made £££££££ in the US where is it? She is not 'entitled' to anything no one is.being brought up a certain way doesn't mean thats it for life. She is a lazy moo PMSl at all her supporters WHY?????????????

wedlocked · 25/05/2010 08:48

Mandi - sorry I already have a human paperweight. Perhaps your DH could introduce to me to some useful other DHs though? If so I'll hand over a bag of wonga immediately.

abr1de · 25/05/2010 09:23

'Can't understand why you would feel sorry for her because she should be some county wife organising the pony club apparently. '

Do I sound as though I'm sorry for her? I'm exasperated that, until quite recently, girls of a certain social milieu were so badly educated.

wedlocked · 25/05/2010 09:26

For badly educated read thick I'm afraid.

moondog · 25/05/2010 09:34

I watched this clip last night.
Jesus.
Unbelievable.
What an utterly odious woman, butb having said that, she is part, however tenuously of the ultimate embodiment of the client state-the 'Royal' family.

Ronaldinhio · 25/05/2010 09:45

so easy for the modern press to demonise or deify
i wonder how many times they tried this and other stings on her before finally this one worked?

lots of us would have done the same with the chance of easy money for a simple introduction. I'm amazed that we are all pretending that we wouldn't.
Also occurred to me that it's unlikely that Andrew was unaware of all this...money or other inducements for introductions or patronage don't seem beyond human comprehension.

This is a grubby little story allowing us all to judge over hypotheticals that will never present themselves to us

ajandjjmum · 25/05/2010 09:47

It is grubby, but I can't help feel for her. More than anything I feel so sorry for her girls - they must be mortified.
