I am sure there are plenty of posters on here that are, sadly, far from that, for all sorts of reasons.

OMG, they actually said that about Netmums? That's so out of order. (Not keen on Netmums myself, but still.)

But it wasn't just about nappies. Thought it was more about disabled children and whether the Tory party had any plans to change the current system of benefits and whether the leader was in touch with voters keeping in mind that while he had a disabled child, may not have had the financial worries as some do.

Am sure Riven will put me straight if this is wrong...

I'd love to know what they base 'well-heeled' and 'less prosperous' on

The article is a little poor and over-generalised. To polarise MN as catering for "relatively well-heeled women" and NetMums as catering for "less prosperous women" is surely going to far? I though most people were here because (unlike NM) MNers don't do hugs or call everyone sweetie

And there are a huge number of Mums on here with babies and toddlers (I am one of them) or actually women just ttcing without kids yet. I joined nearly 2 years before I had DS!

THEREFORE

Everyone on Mumsnet must be CLEVERER on average.

THEREFORE

On average those on Mumsnet must have more money.

But doesn't MN do that survey and produce a demographic profile of users? Am sure NM does similiar. And adverisers don't chick money at media on a whim, they know which demographic they are appealing to.
It's a far too simplistic to say "well heeled"or "less prosperous", but in general not incorrect.
It's in the reader to make value judgements on that.

what does well-heeled mean? does it mean of a good income?

and i always thought that Netmums was more middle-class.
but then i never went on the boards, so i'm probably wrong.

i haven't got any money at all.

and i've never been a labour voter, either.
i voted libdem from when i could first vote.

So to clarify the point; well heeled = nasty
