"David Cameron, the Conservative leader, travelled to Bristol to discuss nappies for disabled children with a Mumsnetter who was dissatisfied with the answers he gave online."

I've always wondered about that- geese have never struck me as especially highly strung.

Gosh! The things that divorce brings... not happy with loosing the private school, the lifestyle, my job and even the house, do I now need to loose Mumsnet and move to Netmums???

ooojimaflip · 09/04/2010 16:00

StewieGriffinsMom - I think you scared them off with the use of the word 'dichotomy'
intellectual snob

geese are really nasty!
they can be quite vicious if provoked (i've never done it: see i'm just timid)

Mongolia: don't worry, noone's going to chuck you off: you're rich in life experience

ooojimaflip · 09/04/2010 16:08

StewieGriffinsMom - can you start another thread over there saying "The Economist thinks you lot are all poorer that the Mumsnet lot, what do you think about that?"

"are we nasty?"

Some are, it depends which side of the fence your on as to if you get the pointy end of the stick or not, but then thats the internet people do not feel the need to be nice as they aren't looking you in the eye when they say something.

I've been called some choice things on here (but thats because i'm a conservative and thats the way labour voters interact) but i'm thick skinned (and headed apparently ) so I don't care.

ooojimaflip · 09/04/2010 16:12

I like "Pergola". It's just nice to say.

A Netmumser has just commented on the Economist article.

ooojimaflip · 09/04/2010 16:50

Actualyl I've realised THIS is why we are better. Mumsnetter sounds much better than Netmumser.

Not saying boo to a goose is a sure sign of intelligence - since the goose is liable to attack you if you do.

EldonAve · 10/04/2010 07:43

also in the NY times

It's free of the sneery stuff we've had recently.

They NY Times, though, wow! I'm very vicariously thrilled, thanks to Riven.

Besom · 10/04/2010 09:12

Hi SGM, btw!

nickelbabe · 10/04/2010 09:46

stealthsquiggle: "Not saying boo to a goose is a sure sign of intelligence - since the goose is liable to attack you if you do."

i meant you'd have to be nasty mean and brave to say boo to a goose.
definitely nto a test of intelligence (of common sense)!

atlantis: then i don't like your politics, but i'm sure i'd like you.

it's still early, Riven

was just trying to say that i wouldn't reject a potential friend just because she had weird political views.

andthat just took me 25 minutes to type because my mum rang and i got distracted.

wukter · 10/04/2010 10:50

Surely the key question raised by the NYT article is: Which M'ner is Sarah Brown?

wukter · 10/04/2010 10:57

I'm doing a search.
I am looking for threads like this.

AIBU - to think my DH should be more decisive?
Employment Issues - OH no! DH facing redundancy on 6 May.
Relationships - My DH can be a unresponsive and dour, how to improve communications?
S&B - Skirt suit and courts?

TrillianAstra · 10/04/2010 11:40

"A rival network called netmums, which caters for those who don't mind textspeak." would be more accurate.

MNers are on average quite well off according to the survey, did NM do a similar one that came out differently? Still ridiculous as t suggests a dividing line rather than a slightly shifted average with very wide ranges.
