Everyone has to adhere to data protection laws but from what I gather from all the bumf I have they mostly refer to computer held data.

I detest Brown, but the National Bullying helpline statement seems highly politically motivated, maybe the spokesperson is looking to secure her funding line under the next government. Anyway, why pick on Gordon?

Tanith · 21/02/2010 22:46

Their website has got David Cameron and Ann Widdecombe all over their front page. I think they're patrons of the chaerity or something.

Seems like this is more to do with nasty political smearing than anything else and the more I hear, the less I believe it.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 21/02/2010 22:55

Has anyone got a link?

hana · 21/02/2010 23:07

Glad someone has mentioned this, I only half paid attention to the news tonight but I couldn't believe that I was actually hearing that woman discussing those allegations on tv. How must the people who made the calls be feeling tonight?

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/02/2010 23:26

Oh good I knew someone would start this thread.

Well, I'm afraid I just thought, as I heard that woman cheerfully discussing the calls made in confidence to The National Bullying Helpline ...

Call me Dave has said the Data Protection Act will be repealed, as it's a pointless bit of legislation.

They just jumped the gun a bit, that's all.

BettySuarez · 21/02/2010 23:35

My cousin knows of these people as they live on his estate. They (The Pratts!) own a dog which is apparently quite agressive and has attacked other dogs on numerous occassions (including his )

Apparently the dog should be muzzled and on a lead as court order slapped on it following years of aggressive behaviour.

It's interesting! Haven't seen the news so no idea what the kerfuffle is about though

TheFallenMadonna · 21/02/2010 23:36

They've made one pretty obvious too, by referring to time off as a result. I would be livid!

Who are the Pratts and how has their dog become involved in this?

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/02/2010 23:40

Quite, Lenin.

Dh said to me tonight, I can't quite believe it, but its feeling more and more possible that Labour might actually scrape back in!

BettySuarez · 21/02/2010 23:43

Sorry, should explain - Christine Pratt is the founder of the National Bullying Helpline (I think!)

TheFallenMadonna · 21/02/2010 23:46

Do you think this plays badly for the tories then? Or is it just because we're a bunch of pinkos?

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/02/2010 23:53

Well, Madonna, fwiw, dh and I appear to agree (there's a shock!) that this constant smearing of GB is simply going to backfire on the Tories. The public are wise to it.

TheFallenMadonna · 21/02/2010 23:55

Good.

Am neither Tory nor Labour so am slightly by it all.

Thought Mandelson was damning with faint praise though

atlantis · 21/02/2010 23:56

"that this constant smearing of GB is simply going to backfire on the Tories."

Only problem with that is it's the labour party that are smearing him. Two Labour insider books have both stated that he's a bully, you can hardly blame the conservatives for that.

"In which case, great tactic! "

I wouldn't put anything past Mandleson and Campbell.

atlantis · 22/02/2010 00:00

I'm waiting for the labour billboard that says;

THE END IS NIGH

and it's all the conservatives fault

(even though they haven't been in power for over a decade)

JJ · 22/02/2010 00:11

There's a blog on the helpline that's been going for a while (I got it via a link from Twitter somewhere - can't properly credit, sorry):

thebullyinghelpline.blogspot.com/

and a post on another one that's more interesting
