HH, I don't know where your friend lives or works, but he could easily just be staying at a friend's (hence no email or home phone) with a mobile with no service atm. Please don't assume the worst.

Thinking of you all in London.

jangus · 07/07/2005 22:23

Much love and hugs to you all in London. My heart really goes out to you. XxX
Huggy: I so hope you get good news soon. {{{}}}

Shiraz · 07/07/2005 22:26

Happyhuggy, have you called the hospitals to see if they have anyone of that name? A mummy friend of mine on another parenting site, called aroudn the hospitals today to find her mother, father and two yr old were there! She hadn't been able to get hold of them all day and they had gone on a shopping trip into London early, her dd was trampled on in all the panic, but is generally well! Just very bruised!

Hope you find out soon hun! Becsm fingers crossed for you! xx

giraffski - not likely. She may well go through kings X but the explosion was on the Piccadilly line between Kings X and Russell Sq - I can't see why she would have been on that line or S of King's X. From camden to W'minster she would more likely be on the northern line, and cetainly not on the bus that was hit.

agree with blu.

Jaysfirst · 07/07/2005 22:34

its probable that your friend will have had to go through Kings Cross, but dont take my word as i know that there are many various routes that could be taken. hope shes ok

Blu · 07/07/2005 22:37

All people still waiting - please remember that many, many people are still on a long walk home, that the mobile networks are still overloaded, and that very heavy use of mobiles earlier will have left many people without credit or battery power.

The places affected are very very specific, that train, on that line, in that station.

And also, of the 700 injured many may well be sat in long long queues with minor problems, or accompanying those in A&E depts with minor problems. And what can't you use in a hospital? Your mobile.

MILLIONS in London are well and safe, but just not where they should be!

Lioke my sister, many are in pubs on the way home, taking a break from the long walk.

Agree with Blu. People are concentrating on getting home, on navigating unfamiliar streets, trying to get information about how best to get home (hence mobiles being out of battery, credit, etc), trying to find somewhere to stay if the journey looks too difficult, or swapping their story of the day with other people in a pub somewhere - things like this do tend to bring out a camaraderie-type feeling and it will all seem very unreal to them. It wouldn't surprise me if people have forgotten that there will be people outside their very closest relatives who are worrying about them.

hunkermunker · 07/07/2005 22:46

I was in London when there was a scare at King's Cross - it was a suspect vehicle outside. I wanted to get the Met line from there home, but ended up walking to Euston Square. Even that short journey took ages and there were throngs of people - and that was just one station closed. I cannot imagine what the entire network, plus buses, being out of action today has done to London - like I say, I'm very proud of how London has reacted today.

there is a tendancy to panic when you dont know whats going on. I was on the tube this morning and went through Liverpool street minutes before it all kicked off, everyone however was relativly calm and seemed to deal with the situation really smoothly. There are a lot of people that havent made it out of London and they are all gathering together lending moral support to each other. The networks are busy with the phones but do keep trying, i have managed to get thrugh eventually to all i had to contact. I am sure your friend will be held up having a mini, all be it very streesful , adventure...

hunkermunker · 07/07/2005 22:49

Giraffeski, she may very well be in hospital, safe, but no access to a phone.

RTKangaMummy · 07/07/2005 22:50

I would be surprized if anyone who went to london took and A to Z with them or even had one in their bag

Shops probably sold out of them very quickley

And so if roads here and there are closed and you have to take a detour it would be very easy to get lost

Also if you only know london by tube the stations don't really mean anythiogn above ground

ie the lines on the tube map don't go exactly where the trains or roads go IYSWIM

I have just realised that today's date is 7/7

My brother's girlfriend is home, she got off at kings cross and walked to Euston, to get the tube as she had been kicked out of Kings X, when she got there she was told to get a bus, she was about to get a bus when she got back off to check the number and it drove off and it explosed in front of her she ran down the road to safety, she is very shaken and shocked......

RTKangaMummy · 07/07/2005 22:55

sorry nothing really just that seemed a signicant numbers
