here

FGS, has it really come to this? They're obviously all on a tea break - are we really so po-faced about everything at all times that these officers have to be 'reprimanded'?

Or AIBU?

Problem is Police are so used to getting bad press, the powers that be In Oxford prob thought they should be 'seen' to do the right thing, psob anticiapating that Members of the Public would not be happy about it!

Surely the shield would be scratched up rendering it useless for looking through?
Did look like great fun though!

I must admit I smiled at them having a bit of fun. But with it being so hard to find a policemen when you need one I can see why it might not look good.

"tobogganing on duty, on police equipment and at taxpayers' expense is a very bad idea"

This is of course true but it looked such fun.

sixtyfootdoll - is there lots of other fun stuff in the 'riot cupboard'?

differentID · 14/01/2010 19:24

i think they were only "reprimanded" so that senior officers could truthfully say they had been dealt with in an appropriate way for all those killjoys out there. I'm sure that everyone in the station have been wishing they could have done the same

Perhaps they should've taken off their very bright flourescent POLICE jackets so as not to be seen so well...? just a thought!

thumbwitch · 14/01/2010 23:05

Aw, poor lads! I do understand all the "not in work time and on work equipment" stuff but really, it was just a few mins of humanity coming through. At least they've only been ticked off, nothing else. As an aside, what were they doing there with riot gear in the first place? Or do they carry it in the car at all times?

Looked like great fun!
