After being in a road traffic accident whilst using mobile phone, not complying with Road Traffic Act by leaving her details at scene i.e her name , registration and detaisl of car etc.

Bascially got off - what a piddlely fine !

MNHQ get her on a Q &A session on here !

Basically got off with it I feel !

Was involved in accident , using mobile phone at time , failed to leave appropriate details at scene of an accident.

Crap , stupid little fine !

One rule for them etc ....

She already has 6 points on her licence for speeding ! shows us what regard she has for safety on the road.

they often only go with a substantiv charge in court
so if oyu are done for bad tyres, no incurance, no mot etc you dont get punished for all of them( NO IDEA WHY) just teh most serious

Would she have been banned in other circumstances? We'll have to hope our friendly mn magistrate happens along.

This all took place a few streets away from where I live - was the source of much local gossip!

Oh, she's quick off the mark isn't she?

OpheliaPain · 08/01/2010 17:40

I LOVE the " oyu know where to get hold of me!
i so hope its true.

note also as the DM says you CAN get up to 9 points
i BET why she only got a £350 fine was that she failed to reveal her income ( as some do) and so they presume a weekly income of £350 - hence her fine

the most you can be fined on road traffic is 1k anyway so with a guilty plea it was never going to be more than £750 ish

OpheliaPain · 08/01/2010 17:41

Its a hilarious story though isnt it

CaptainUnderpants · 08/01/2010 17:41

I appreciate that - but what a stupid fine.

She should have benn done for the lot

using monile phone
hit and run - bascially that is what she did by not leaving her details

Isn't there up 10 £1000 fine for using phone - she gets £350 - not even means testing I doubt !

if oyu look at the rules for a " momentary lap of conc " its actually a band a fine( half a weekly income) and 3- 4 points

and 1/3 offf for guilty plea

so totally inline with law

sorry dm!

OpheliaPain · 08/01/2010 17:43

they never have to come to court.
unless serious risk of disqual in which case they adjourn
LOADS of people dont.

bibbitybobbitysantahat · 08/01/2010 17:43

Tis absolutely true about the "I'm Harriet Harman - you know where you can get hold of me!"

OpheliaPain · 08/01/2010 17:43

oh GREAT

ImHarrietHarman · 08/01/2010 17:44

well hellllllo

CaptainUnderpants · 08/01/2010 17:45

yeah but a momentary lapse of concnetration whilst using a mobile phone . there has been a big campaign about use of monile phones whilst driving . As soon as you get in the car - whenyou have control over it whether yu have moved or not you are deemed as driving ( if my memory serves me right).

depends on cirs at the time
tbh as SMC will tell you - you can never say unless you heard the details

at the mo in our LJA you hear it and then adjourn and call if you think ... so say driving over 100 comes in then we take a view

CaptainUnderpants · 08/01/2010 17:48

Not bothered whether she went ot court or not , law allows you not to attend but law does require you to give details at scene if accident and not use mobile phone when driving !

If anybody had been hurt and she fled the scen without leaving detaisl she could have been arrested .
