Liz Jones again

OP posts:
coolma · 28/12/2009 13:50

It wasn't quite as bad as I thought it would be , but really it could have been a lot less about her and more about the reality (speaking as a con-ordinator in a homless day centre)

coolma · 28/12/2009 13:50

co-ordinator!!!!

I actually found it quite funny. It wouldn't have been out of place in private eye.

coolma · 28/12/2009 14:19

Wish she's come a 'volunteer' at our place. I'd find some smelly and nasty homeless people to really wind her up

hahaha. I may relax the 'no abuse to staff' rule in that case!

bramblebooks · 28/12/2009 14:45

that woman is truly obnoxiously shallow and self-centred.

tethersjinglebellend · 28/12/2009 17:24

She's so mental, the mail are sort of...exploiting her.

TwoIfBySeasonsGreetings · 29/12/2009 13:55

Oh my god David, go into hiding, she is after you!

I usually admire people who admit to their prejudices and then do something to challenge them. Much more truthful than most can bear to be.

However this silly mare is beyond that. She is so far up her own backside the only sunlight she sees is through her teeth. It isn't so much prejudices she has as a pure yet shallow ignorance.

dollius · 29/12/2009 14:24

I love that the homeless have to be "grateful" and "sweet" and from a third world country in order to be worth helping. Not cos they are down on their luck, suffering, ill etc...

Although this wasn't as awful as I was expecting. If she's widened the horizons of just one Daily Mail reader, that's got to be a good thing.

brettgirl2 · 29/12/2009 17:53

So have any of you ever actually done any voluntary work with homeless people?

Yes.

And I didn't do it because I thought it would make a great column in the Mail either.

Missus84 · 29/12/2009 18:20

God, she's hideous! I live just round the corner from there, glad she liked the neighbourhood

coolma · 29/12/2009 18:25

Work full time with the homeless ta. But would love to write for the Mail about it - properly

VirginPeachyMotherOfSpod · 29/12/2009 18:31

'They are sweet. They are grateful'

'have no patience with people who can't help themselves'

Big plusses to the Devon Riverford people,YeoValley and Sainbo's:

Bigprayers forpeoplelike 'His mother gave him drugs when he was five years old' and ''She was sexually abused by her father, ran away from home and has just been beaten up by her boyfriend. She is very scared, very vulnerable

And sad condolenseces to Liz Jones on the loss of her humanity. From one Somerset woman to another.

VirginPeachyMotherOfSpod · 29/12/2009 18:34

And i've workedforcharities all my life, paid and unpaid, including having homneless famillies in my workload.

Why would that matter though?Maybe wondering if peopledo any charitable work, but you don't have to help the homeless specifically to be contributing do you? Is someone who spends 3 hours a week with LD kids or on a cancer phonline less able to comment I wonder?

brettgirl2 · 29/12/2009 19:41

Good, of course you're right virgin, one is not better than the other. Just wondered reading the thread that's all - one of those that makes you wonder who the people are judging.

Tizzyjacko · 29/12/2009 19:47

We are judging Liz "Marie Antoinette" Jones and her batty and frequently offensive but unintentionally hilarious views on life.

I have no patience with people who can't help themselves, who remain ignorant despite a free education, libraries, the internet...

Like the dm jorno who hasn't got a clue

MollieO · 30/12/2009 00:49

LBAMKS some very well educated people end up homeless. Very few do so through choice or because they can't be bothered to help themselves.

coolma · 30/12/2009 07:02

I think LBAMKS was quoting the goddess Jones..

SheikYerbouti · 30/12/2009 07:13

Liz Jones' column should be outlawed by the EU. It's always shite.

Oh look at me, I have no friends because I have alienated them because I am hag wart and noone wants me for Christmas, I never get to go on holiday, all the local kids throw eggs at my car, blah blah blah
