oh gawd, I don't mean I hope she's ok because she's gorgeous. Should really have used a full stop and a new paragraph

GreensElves · 20/12/2009 00:40

she IS gorgeous

poor little love

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 20/12/2009 00:43

oh that of course I have - my OP was badly phrased and only myself to blame for the backlash it caused.

But hell - if I bore grudges against people because of something that happens on one thread then MN life would be boring.

I love the fact that I can be throwing insults back on forth on one thread with someone, and another backing them up defiantly

GreensElves · 20/12/2009 00:48

oh good

I disagree with you on most things but I do like your tenacity and the way you hold your own however vile people are

and you are kind-natured and not at all ignorant

never seen you be cheap or cruel to anyone

you ARE an irritating cow though

and your boys are beeeeeeautiful

What a bloody awful thing to happen. Sad thing is, she may well be better off out of it - if they were going to transport mother and child to one of those god-awful immigration detention centres.

Remember the thread about the poor baby denied formula milk over a whole weekend at Yarl's Wood? (A true case, got my MP to look into it - and the Home Office and Serco didn't give a fig, wouldn't be surprised if they were still abusing babies.)

GreensElves · 20/12/2009 00:52

yes gobby cow

but lovely

GreensElves · 20/12/2009 00:58

I remember that edam, it made my blood run cold

we should all be ashamed of what is being done every day in our names

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 20/12/2009 01:08

I remember that too - that god awful place is just down the road from here.

SixtyFootDoll · 20/12/2009 08:34

I am thinking that if mohter is about to be deported, she would prob rather her child is here.
So if the child is 'abducted' she can't be deported?
I am not judging, but that's how it is.
I have had dealings with illegal immigrants, and it is not unusual for children to be here without their parents ( as per Victoria Climbie?)

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 20/12/2009 08:41

story has been updated now with more details,

if she was going to be deported she wouldn't have been released on bail.

SixtyFootDoll · 20/12/2009 08:47

she can be, if people are arrested for immigartion offences they are not always deported.

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 20/12/2009 08:51

erm - I was responding to what you said in your previous post

"I am thinking that if mohter is about to be deported, she would prob rather her child is here.
So if the child is 'abducted' she can't be deported?"

so I pointed out that the odds were she wasn't going to be deported, especially given she was released on bail.

Of course there are lots of immigration offences which don't result in deportation, I just think it's wild leap to assume that it was somehow planned

SixtyFootDoll · 20/12/2009 08:55

Maybe she thought she may be deported? and panicked?
Who knows?
I just hope that the baby is safe and well.

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 20/12/2009 08:56

have you read the updated story - or are you just making wild assumptions???

SixtyFootDoll · 20/12/2009 09:03

I have read it and I am trying to offer a different perspective to 'How terrible the Police were to hand the baby over to a random stranger'
Like many posters on many threads before me I am amking assumptions.
Wouldnt it be better for the child if she is with someone she knows, than being taken by some random person who walked in off the street?

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 20/12/2009 09:13

no you're assuming that the mother knows the woman who took her.

If I were to be arrested and arrangements made for DH to pick DS3 up that any one of his friends (or friends of his friends) could walk into the police station pretending to be him and take him. I know a couple of his friends, but not the "wider circle".

If several phone calls have been made then it's quite concievable that "news" has travelled and someone that doesn't know the mother has turned up to get the child.

And is better that she's with someone she knows (presuming that she does know her) - I would say no. Victoria Climbe knew the people she was with, as did that poor girl who went "missing" and was found under a bed in a (relatives?) house not far from home.

ImSoNotTelling · 20/12/2009 09:18

It all seems very odd. There is an investigation about how the police verified who she was, so I wonder if they just took her at her word

londonone · 20/12/2009 09:19

I'm with 60 foot doll. I suspect that mother thought she might be deported and wanted her daughter to "disappear" for a while and therefore not be in the system.

StealthPolarBear · 20/12/2009 09:20

don't know what to think, but hope she is found soon

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 20/12/2009 09:21

and if this is to be believed then I'm not sure how she could have arranged to have the child "abducted" given that it would appear she wasn't even the person the police initially went to see, and according to all the articles it was the officers that made the subsequent phone calls.

ImSoNotTelling · 20/12/2009 09:21

I don't see why the woman needed to be the wrong woman to "disappear".

if the right woman had collected the baby they could still disappear.

The fact they are taking it so seriously presumably means the mother is genuinely freaked out, which would be quite difficult to act (though not impossible).

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 20/12/2009 09:26

that's a fair point ISNT. And surely the "right person" - could disappear with the child much more easily, and quietly (ie without pictures of the child being all over the news so people are actually looking for her) that a stranger.

If I "wanted" one of my children to "disappear" so they didn't appear on the system I sure as hell wouldn't be making a big song and dance about the fact that they'd "gone". It would be done very quietly.

Hulababy · 20/12/2009 09:35

I just can't see how it can be a complete stranger. Surely it must be someone linked to the other in some ways?

Otherwise, hw would they have known the girl was there?

ImSoNotTelling · 20/12/2009 12:36

It says the police were "ringing around" so that implies they told quite a few people who may have told other people etc etc
