Who is in the parts of the country affected by the flooding? Cumbria? Where else?

They are reporting that a police officer is missing. Hope that they find him, my thoughts are with his family.

Glad they are safe Attenborough.

How is everyone else? Still dry?

We're still dry on the eastern side - I think we had our river peak the day before yesterday and I think it's probably gone down far enough not to be too disastrous when it rains again.

More worried about the central west area and the central valleys as there's more rain due, the ground is supersaturated and it torrents off the mountains. It's not just the rivers, you see, the fields are like sodden sponges and when full the water pours onto the minor roads, which are usually a couple of feet lower than the fields.

And Derwentwater is well over. Eeek.

Fingers crossed that the rain will be lighter than expected.

A warning for anyone driving in Perthshire - please don't.
The Earn has burst it's banks and the Tay has flooded the road north of Dunkeld. There is an alarming amount of surface water on the roads and people are still driving like boy racers.

Sorry Nymph I'm never on at the weekends. You'll know about Penrith by now, then! Ok except Eamont Bridge to the south of Penrith Kemplay roundabout - River Eamont has been over by several feet. Best up the M6 if possible.

www.cumbria.gov.uk has a lot of details of blocked roads/closed services et al.

Yippee doo! Hope Ulverston hasn't got any worse.
