Nope, I just wouldn't. The images can't be stored? No, maybe not yet, but someone will find a way - someone will abuse their authority at some airport somewhere which will upset someone.

I'm not sure it could be made mandatory - an infringement of human rights, I'd say.

I just don't trust 'em, I tell ya.

pyjamalama · 15/10/2009 15:15

So let me get this right ... people would rather be touched quite intimately by a stranger than have someone in another room look at an image of them?

HuwEdwards · 15/10/2009 15:21

pyjama, I'm 46, I get my intimate touching wherever and whenever I can

As long as 'Dave' is forewarned to get the sick-bucket ready, I have no problem in being scanned.

And I agree, probably after the second day the 'Daves' would not be batting an eyelid at whatever they saw.

ThingumyandBob · 15/10/2009 16:06

I was going to say no way!!?but I flew into Schiphol Amsterdam a couple of years ago (thank you for the tip off furball)?.could I have gone through without realising?

(Entirely possible, especially on the return trip, I was on a very classy girly weekend to explore Amsterdam?so perhaps I just didn?t notice!?!?!)

Furball · 15/10/2009 17:02

Thingumy - I didn't know/realise at the time.

Only clicked this week with the body position of the scanned person - googled and yep Schipol had them installed 4 months before we flew.

We deffo went through some high security and remember going through said machine, but obviously they never said - some bloke will have a right free show laugh if you stand here

Rebeccaj · 15/10/2009 18:26

I've done this too, at Schipol. It got me through the security line very quickly, so I had no problem! It's hardly porn quality, is it. Your average perve could get far better pics from FHM.

Do you still have to take your shoes/boots off if you go through. I hate having to take boots off at security!

GetOrfMoiLand · 15/10/2009 18:52

I would write 'stop looking at my tits' on my chest in marker pen for my own amusement.

I would go through the scanner, no problem, I couldn't care less.

ThingumyandBob · 15/10/2009 19:42

Oh joy! Glad I?m not the only one who didn?t realise at the time?

...perhaps Schipol is the last place to worry about going through the scanner! Definitely not porn, especially not in Amsterdam, forget FHM Rebeccaj the sex district is a mere dash away!

Jackaroo · 16/10/2009 08:54

Well "Dave" and I went through this at h'row when they were doing a test run, and I was bloody livid. They didn't say what it was, what it was for, or the degree of um, clarity... I only realised when I was waiting a bit longer for DH to come out the other side and started talking to one of the customs women.

I was speechless at the time (has some uses then) but by teh time I was on the plane I was incandescent.

S'pose my real gripe is not being told/rights etc., but would not do it again.

LaurieFairyCake · 16/10/2009 08:57

I'm reminded of the series Friends when reading this (about Chandler wanking in to a cup for fertility treatment):

"I don't want it to end up on You-Tube"

Monica - "Honey I mean this in the sweetest way possible but no one is going to want to watch that".

I wouldn't care - it would be serious niche porn to imagine someone gets their jolly's from seeing a skeleton with flesh hanging off it.

BecauseImWorthIt · 16/10/2009 09:03

I'd be more worried that 'Dave' would want to sue me for assaulting his eyes ...

MaMight · 16/10/2009 09:22

I'd be fine with it. There's nothing terribly exciting about me naked.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 16/10/2009 09:33

I would do it. I'd probably enjoy the experience more than 'Dave' would viewing my naked body

dspurling · 16/10/2009 14:47

Anyone that would like to help prevent this technology being implemented in all UK airports is invited to sign this petition:

WebDude · 16/10/2009 22:12

Quite right, Callisto, that the option to go through scanner or have traditional 'pat down' is during the trials of this, and in the long run, it is likely to be the norm.

It will probably speed up the queues. As for the 'viewers' in some locked up room, bet they will be bored to tears, so there will probably be the occasional 'secret smuggler' going through to ensure they are still awake!
