Yay! A Femmo campaign. Where do I sign?

Definitely get her on MN. We NEEEEED her.

CybilLiberty · 28/09/2009 16:59

BUT the problem is, there is a school of (mainly female) thought that says ' I am impowered and in charge because I CHOOSE to take my knickers off in Loaded'. The Men are the weak ones for looking'

(I expect SGB will be along shortly.)

cocolepew · 28/09/2009 16:59

I complained in Tesco. Apparently they haven't got anywhere else to put them. Tesco must be having money problems and can't afford a high shelf.

CNyle · 28/09/2009 17:00

meanwhile they still sell "cd's" [sic]

I shall start arguing about this stuff again! Maybe if more of us do it, people might actually take some notice.

I tried in the petrol station saying that I didn't appreciate the "top shelf" mags now being at child-height in front of the till a few years back, but got such a brain-dead expression from the girl behind the till that I just stopped going there. But didn't bother writing to the manager. Next time, I'll try to take more effective action!

CNyle · 28/09/2009 17:01

UnquietDad · 28/09/2009 17:10

Surely the comment on the Times page is

"why IS this story illustrated by a hottie in a bikini?"

Good point really.

idealcamel · 28/09/2009 17:13

In fairness, although it is still icky that the article looks like it's illustrated by the photo, the image is of the new "Bikini Espresso" thing that Janice talks about.

CybilLiberty · 28/09/2009 17:14

Am well up for complaining about the lad mags at our local M&S garage. Trouble is the woman in charge is so lacking in any social graces I can't face tackling it with her. The thing with those garages is that they are not actually owned by M&S, they are just franchises (as I learned when I tried to use a gift voucher in there). I think a letter to M&S complaining about how this demeans M&S as a brand might hit a bit harder. I've also physically turned over a Daily Star/Sport front page in Somerfield so that it showed the sports page instead.

LadyMidnightMT · 28/09/2009 17:27

so far it uses misogyny in reference to Rod Liddle, and with that I wouldn't disagree...

LadyMidnightMT · 28/09/2009 17:31

and I would argue that perhaps Matthew D?Ancona's strategy in publishing Liddle is akin to handing Il Crippledick a rope to hang himself with...

I get uneasy when people start talking about what should and should not be published.

The point about lads mags surely is that they don't need to be so numerous and in yer face, not that they should be banned - isn't it?

pinkthechaffinch · 28/09/2009 17:34

I'm really fed up of those freeview music channels which seem to be 90% scantily clad women dancing provoactively round a male clothed singer.

At the weekend dh had to be told to turn it off as I couldn't stomach the sight of him watching whilst looking after dcs'! He complied luckily for him!

But I hate the messages the music industry is sending to my 7 year old ds.
